Does anyone know whether the colors on the monitor of the Inspiron 7537 are accurate?? I want to use it with photoshop and for web design but have seen reviews that say the white colours have a yellow tint, and that the contrast between other colours are not great?

Is there any truth to this? If so has anyone tried to calibrate the colours and has this worked or should I be looking at a different laptop if I want accurate colours.

well the screen is very nice to look at with great color saturation and image quality but I don't think it is an ideal screen for those stuff that requires high color coverage and accuracy. More info from this link: Review Dell Inspiron 15-7537 Notebook - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

Hi Paul, that's the very review I read before I posted here. In the review he shows some tests but in parenthesis he states "(uncalibrated)". So my question is whether any of the reviews are calibrated, and whether it is possible to calibrate this display so it becomes more accurate?

I like the idea of warm colors for watching videos, but I can't have wildly inaccurate colors when it comes to photos.

Incidentally, is there a lot of saturation by default - maybe compared to the more expensive Vaios?

the 30 or 40 pin number count is dependent on the LCD screen part number used for the build.

unless your going to change the screen it is not really important to know.

    Hi guys!

I'm thinking of buying a new laptop for daily use and some moderate gaming and the Inspiron 15-7537 caught my eye. This is the non-touch i5 version. But there are some things that I am worried about...it would be nice if someone can give me some clarification.

    1. Many complaints of poor build quality of Dell in the past. What should be expected of the 7000 series?

    2. Battery life -- as the battery is built-in and not very easy to remove, isn't it going to be exposed to high temperatures while using the laptop for intense tasks like gaming which generate heat. I know the normal battery life is very good but if I do some light to moderate gaming (4 to 5 hours a week, demanding games using the discrete GPU) would I soon end up with a halfway fried battery with a much reduced capacity?

Please share your thoughts on these questions. Thanks!

Thanks! I've already read those reviews. It does sound like a good machine. My main worry is actually the battery.

Guys how high do the temperatures go when gaming (using the discrete GPU) with this notebook? Is it hard to keep the heat levels low because of the thin construction?

    Yeah..of course while gaming...
Some people said it's okay for laptop....btw good air flow is essential...like placing the laptop on hard surface with elevating the vent side around 2cm more...or placing it on a laptop cooler.

    Guys, Hi!

I am about to buy N7737. I will use it for work in my office.

This is my 5th notebook already. Each of them I use for at least 3 years, 99% of the time in my office.

N7737 has a built-in battery. I would like to remove this batter and use it only with power cord to save battery life.
Is this a good idea, or I can leave the battery inside and let it charge all the time ?

Hi, I've been reading through this thread and saw all the wifi problems mentioned. If you buy the 7537 from dell you get intel n 7260. If you buy it from newegg/amazon etc you get intel 3160 with a, b, g, n and ac. Has dell fixed the wifi issues with driver updates? Thanks!

Hi I've got one more question about the 7537. How is it to use on your lap? I'm really tired of my alienware m14x r2 feeling like its cooking my legs! Thanks!

The ultrabook processor doesn't even require the fan to be running under low loads, that's how cool it is. For me the fan remains off during casual browsing on chrome.

Definitely no roast thighs with this one, unless you plan to play demanding games on your thighs.

Hi everybody. I bought the Inspiron 17 7000 (7737). I was wondering, since it has an optical drive, is it possible to exchange that with a special "caddy" for the SSD/HDD? If so, does anyone know what kind of dimension it should be? 9.5mm or 12.7mm? Thanks in advance.

I am trying to find a working fan utility tool for this laptop. It used to run extremely quiet. But for some time it seems like the Fan is spinning at 2500 RPM constantly on idle. I tried SpeedFan but I can't quite get that working. It shows Pwn1 as fan but does not seem to do much as far as I can tell. I also tried i8kfan and tried workarounds to try get the unsigned driver working but now it says it's not running. Are there other ways around this? Thanks. And what is your experience with the fans in idle? Are / were they also at 0 RPM for you?

I don't know about fan utils but I recently had the fan act up similarly. I checked temps, reapplied thermal paste, checked temps again. They were lower this time and fan started turning off at idle as usual.

What kind of temperatures were you seeing?
At Idle I have it sitting at around 40 degrees celsius, and the fan still keep spinning at 2500 RPM and does not shut off.

At some load it climbs to 50-55 pretty quickly.

What kind of idles are you people seeing here in general.
I haven't replaced thermal paste before but might look into that.

    Hi guys,
Sorry to bring up an old thread. Got a 7737 question. The bottom right corner adhesive under the front layer of screen glass appears to be unstuck (this is the digitiser, right?), so when I open the lid at the top left edge, the bottom right corner part of glass screen pops out. Touch works still okay. If I were to redo the adhesive, would it be okay again? or is this something once undone, it can't be easily put back?

    Thanks
