i spec'ed my laptop again and aside from the free stuff and the 250gb, its still $200 more than what we paid - and $300 using the cheaper config. so long as the unit ships with acceptable build quality and in the right config, i dont really care.

having said that, in the past we have been compensated considerably by other companies for delays. we even had a complete laptop replaced with a better model and came with a free scanner because the faulty laptop motherboard they were trying get parts from took more than 3 weeks to arrive.

given this experience with dell, i'd say i'm not happy - its over 4 weeks to get to a shipping stage. not only have they lost me as a customer, but also to countless people who will come to seek my advice for a notebook purchase.

Not only that, but the machine can now be ordered with a T7700 processor. Grrrr :(

I got the free bluetooth travel mouse with mine, and am a lot happier with that that the godawful looking bag. Also happier with the 7200 RPM I ordered than the slower 250, despite it being worth $257 more.

The $200 difference rather pisses me off, as does the $350 worth of support.
I suppose I can always cancel and re-order but will miss out on the splendid white case then - and have to wait another 2 months. Decisions decisions.

I just got my laptop today, after exactly 2 months of waiting.

Not sure if it was worth it yet, it is a nice laptop. I noticed 2 minor issues with the quality, the aluminium bezel had glue marks from where some other sticker had been on it and had been removed and there was a small scratch below the screen on the left of the Dell logo.

Ordered on the 3rd of October and went into "Shipping from Factory" on the 15th. I send the cheque a week after order so that might have delayed things.

Congrats Andrew on getting the M1330. Pity you got a few minor quality issues.

I ordered mine (Black CCFL) on Sep 3rd. All minimum spec except I upgraded to the T7500. My EDD is given as October 5. Let's see how it goes!

Just received my new Logitech VX Nano wireless laptop mouse to go with the M1330.
Very nice mouse with all the features of the bigger high end mice!
    Receiver is super small.

Looks good side by side with the M1330.

Just looked it up, that's one small receiver! I might have to look at one for myself.

Mayhem - Would you suggest going with the wireless mouse you have or a bluetooth one. I was looking at a bluetooth mouse because the m1330 only has two usb ports. A bluetooth mouse would use the intergrated bluetooth.

OK, so I called and asked for
    *250$ refund
    *2years XPS premium
    *the bag
*a free 6cell battery to compensate for the better hard-drive

I said I would cancel and re-order if I couldn't get these compensations and...it worked! I was called back yesterday and I had the confirmation by email today.

BTW, I am still waiting for the laptop (it shipped 3 days ago but it has not arrived in NZ yet!)

Yeah I looked for a bluetooth mouse but I couldn't find one that was near as nice and have the same amount of features as a desktop mouse.

Both laptop and receiver fit into case that comes with M1330.

On the road, I feel two usb ports are enough (one for mouse and extra one for whatever). At the office I'll just connect a usb hub.

Mine arrived in CHCH using BAX Global, and then used a local shipping company to make its way from me. Since I'm in a rural area all courier companies except for New Zealand Couriers and CourierPost use them.

I'm sure someone from a city can let you know what couriers they use!

It's virginal white, and faster than a catholic school girl.
    LED 2.2Ghz 160Gb7k2 4Gb FPR

Got a BSD after 2 hours which totally trashed my C:\ so re-installing all now. No apparent build quality defects. It's so nice to see a metal lappy after all those vomit inducing plastic things in the deparment stores.

would have been on thursday but the courier was sick!

So far everything is awesome! no defects spotted yet, so fingers crossed,

still getting my head around vista, a bit fiddley, but ok so far.
a bit annoying with the fingerprints on the beautiful front cover tho,

anyone know what the best way to remove these are??
