actually i got mine today(tuesday) - the logistics company mucked up my order. Anyway, I'm trying to forget the pain, anger and suffering from waiting 42 days for my laptop. I've spent all night trying to remove all the bloatware as per the sticky thread. Apparently there's a lot of bloatware!

Ordered mine on the 19th with an estimated delivery of 16th October. Hopefully it'll be here earlier, mine went into production as soon as it was ordered pretty much.

Anyone else from the UK experiencing similar times?

I have exactly the same as you. ordered studio 17 on 14/09/08 (so only day before) got edd of 29/09/08, then got revised to 05/11/08.

I just emailed to complain, asked for a free upgrade. So i will see what they come back with.

On a side note i thought dell didnt charge to cancel?

Thats outrageous   ...Dell cant charge you for cancelling an order which they have delayed by over a month..call them up and threaten to sue them..I am sure they will either let you cancel your order or atleast give you a free upgrade or extended warranty...

Thats real late.... :( ..I ordered mine on the 1st of September and got it on the 16th... :D

    Is this a record?
    Studio 1535
Ordered 27/8/08 with delivery 3/5 Business days.
Order confirmation gave EDD of 16/9/08
On Sept 13th delivery revised to 29/9/08
On Sept 26th delivery revised to NOVEMBER 11th altough on the same date the salesperson rang to guarantee that I would have it today!
Guess what - no truck outside yet, site shows Nov 5th.
Salesman not returning calls this week and another person says they will 'prioritise' it.

Anyone recommend a good alternative that is available.
By the way I am less than 30 miles from Dells plant in Limerick.
Dell and customer service do not belong in the same sentence!

Hey is anyone experiencing the same problem as me
    i ordered a studio 15 in plum : 3rd sept 2008
    1st EDD: 23rd sept 2008
    2nd EDD: 8th Oct 2008
    and today

    3rd EDD: 31st oct 2008!!!!

What the heck is going on with my order!!!!!
i checked on the order status and it says it's in production!!! It's been in production for over a month now!

This is ridiculous, surely it's not normal for my order to be delayed so many times!

I'm not sure whether i should wait it out or just cancel because i do really really want that laptop but these delays are frustrating me so much

    ordered : 9/12
    ESD : 10/3

    REVISED : 10/31

emailed them what the cause was, simply said it was shortage of parts

Next Day, phoned in and canceled.

Absolutely pathetic of dell to be continually selling these Studio Laptops when they KNOW BEFOREHAND that they do not have the parts. Isn't this a crime? Its been a trend seeing these posts on here.

And heck, Dell is continually advertising "deals" on these Studio Laptops when they know they can't ship them out.

Been a loyal fan and customer of Dell, now it doesn't seem I will be purchasing them from a long time.

Bought the same exact HP computer without the Radeon 3450 video card for the same price. I'm losing money but heck, I needed a laptop and Dell certainly ain't stealing my money.

Please post results of free upgrade if and when you eventualy hear from Dell!
I didn't think they charge either, but they have locked a deposit on the credit card. I got told they will take that if cancelled!
    Oh well...only 23 days to wait :) !

    Is this ridiculous or what?!
I order mine on the 26th of August, (delivery date 18th sept)
so.... 18th of sept arrived - revised date 10th oct.
... 10th oct arrived - revised again to 5th november!!!!

let's think about that ordered 26/08/08 - estimated 5/11/08!! ouch. no chance.

I cancelled, however i ordered it with a debit card and i am STILL waiting to get my money back.
I'm sorry to say this but dell are ****ING useless.

I ordered a Seaweed cover, backlit keyboard, 3gb, 250gb - not over the top.

Consider toyota make a car one every 9 hours, dell take the ****.

I ordered mine on 15th september, had delivery date of 10th oct, which was then changed to november 4th...that sounds scarily similar. And mine's seaweed too.

dell are rubbish. I've taken time to cool off before i write this.

I'm taking legal action if i don't get my money back soon. They are breaking several British consumer laws:

This one is from the 1992 supply of goods and service act:

When buying distance sellers (internet/telephone etc) consumers are legally entitled to receive the good within 30 DAYS. I waited two months?!

There are tonnes of consumer laws but we do actually have a bit of power not to get screwed around....

I WANT MY MONEY BACK. I CANCELLED OVER A WEEK AGO!!

Exactly the same thing as you...15th ordered, now november 4th is being displayed. I've had enough and am calling Dell to cancel now. It was a seaweed studio 15 too. Customer service is useless and will feed you any old lie to stop you cancelling the order.

lol...would be absolutely brilliant if they were about to box my laptop and I cancelled the order :D

But I did cancel the order and told them to stuff my nonexistent laptop up their arses. Plus I am expecting them to foot the interest on my credit card too...cheeky *******s.

Finally got my money back.

I was just about to write an angry letter telling them how very angry I was.

Dell are ****. That is all that needs to be said. They kicked me right in the balls and I never had any of my problems resolved.

They can pay for my phone bill as well. I send them the angry letter after all then.

Let's see - I order my first Studio 15 on 9/30/08. I was told to expect it on 10/15/08. Got a tracking number for DHL. Then DHL lost the computer. I never got it. Finally got Dell to order a replacement computer. It was supposed to ship on 10/28 and be delivered on 10/29 but it is still showing "in production".

And of course every time I call I am told I have to wait 48 hours for them to update the system that they never update.

Fairly standard studio 15 in red. I don't know if I will ever get it.

    Ordered: October 4th, 2008
    Est Ship: October 24th
    1st Rev. Ship: October 31st
    2nd Rev. Ship: November 7th

Since I ordered it, my status remained "In production" despite the revised shipping dates. Checked status on November 2nd and it says, "No Order was found that met the search criteria."

Sent email to Dell's Customer Service and currently await response.

Does anyone know why all the delays with the Studio?

From what I can tell, Dell just sucks real hard. I ordered a studio 17 on october 21st with an esd of November 5th. Like clockwork, my order got delayed till the 19th a half hour ago. I'm totally confident that they will delay it once more. I'm real upset that Dell can't even keep up with their business after over a YEAR of delays. Man, if I owned a business, I'd.... STOCK UP PARTS?! They havn't seemed to get this yet.

My shipment was delayed for more than a week (from the 11/21 to 12/1), but now it seems that it's actually shipped earlier than the second EDS (on 11/24). :) And I emailed the sales rep about why my shipment was delayed on the 21st. I got a prompt response and said that my laptop was actually in the final production stage and should be out in the next 24 to 72 hours (between 11/22 to 11/24), which seems to be the case. So I guess my experience with DELL isn't that bad... not yet.

I understand that some of you get really upset because of the delay or repeated delay and what not, but please don't take it out on where the sales rep is from and talk like a racist p****. The delay of your product has nothing to do with who answers your phone and deals with the progress of your product. You are right, the most they can do is to read the script and tell you the most surface issue that's causing the problem under the supervision of the company (i.e., whoever is in charge of that part of the operation of the company). In other words, whatever the sales rep or the customer service are doing or saying, they are told to do/say so by the company. If it were Americans doing the same job, they'd do it exactly the same way, as long as the company policy remains the same and the person who runs the customer service or sales department is the same... and this person is more than likely American. I doubt DELL would have Indians run the whole customer service section of the company.

Sorry for going off track. :)

Yeah that is weird. You should call or email DELL to find out what's going on. Usually they'll designate someone to monitor your case specifically. This is the person you can talk to... or yell at when something goes wrong. :)

Just an update from my post above.

Phoned dell today and i got a quote number which i had to confirm so that my order would be processed. I then confirmed the order and the guy said i would recieve an email 2morro.

I then phoned my bank to find out they had allready taken the money from my cancelled order. So dell have £630 of my money and i have absolutely nothing. No email no delivery date

Oh! I'd be really annoyed too if that happened to me! I'd probably call and yell though. :p That may help get things done right. But then after the order's in and laptop in production, all you can ever do is still just to wait.

I wonder why they have to wait till tomorrow to get your the confirmation though. If it's something the sales rep can fix, you should push. Just my 2 cents.

I got it fixed on Thursday and it has been processing since.

Still in stage 1 which states:
We have successfully received your order.

After your payment has been processed, we will email you an Order Confirmation and your order will move to Pre-Production status.

How long does it stay in this stage? all it is is taking money from my bank and it seems to be taking an age to do this.

I bought a PS3 game off another website on friday and they have already taken the money from my bank and processed my order.

    Paranoid loyal.
