¡Hola! My original problem was the ghosting, so... as they can't fix ghosting, they return my money, because is a "waste of time" repair my black screen (literally). And now I am without laptop and next week I have a trip... So now, if I return it, i will not have another laptop in ... maybe 2 weeks? meh...
Maybe I will tell them that ghosting doesn't matter, as long as they fix my screen. But if I can buy the version with 16GB RAM and SSD for the same price with discounts, maybe I will ask for my money back.
-
Dang...I just got this laptop today and the wireless SUCKS! I get 27 up and 11 down...whereas on my 4 year old inspiron 1545 I get 54 up and 20 down! I updated the wifi card drivers and everything? Is there anything else I can do or should I call dell??
-
Customer care is definitely a shame
may be ghosting is associated with v-sync settings ? -
Nothing, even my phone is faster than this ****ty card
-
I just installed my brand new Samsung EVO 840, let's hope for the best. Also, I did a clean Windows 8.1 install and was finally able to install the Intel Wifi driver version 16.6, so I'll let you know if I notice some improvement.
-
What power mode are you using?
If you are using the Dell one it will never boost and so on... you need to pick performance if you want..... performance
-
I was on a chat with a genius at Dell yesterday who kept insisting that 5mps was a perfectly normal wifi speed for a home.
-
Okay so I called dell about the TY wirless card and complained and they are coming to my place to replace it with the dell wireless 1901 card...apparently, the current wireless card in my laptop has problems with frequencies and junk so it is not compatible with my router...the dell wireless 1901 will alleviate this problem
-
Does anyone else have problem with headphones sounding fuzzy and a static noise coming from them when music is playing? Also, the speakers produce very low quality sound...is that normal?
-
God bless souls of those clueless and ignorant technicians!
About the hissing sound, I heard it the first day I got the lap but it was just too small of a prob for me so meh! -

Hello
Important
if You change hardisk to SSD:
1. migrate hardisk to ssd with win 8
2. start Win 8 and perform windows experience index. Now win 8 will recognizes your ssd correct.
3. install Win 8.1. If you install win 8.1 first your ssd is shown as a hardsk. Win 8.1 has no windows experience index.
Excuse my poor english.

guys i really want to buy the 15'' version with FHD but i saw that it has problems with wifi and 'ghosting' display. What did you mean with "ghosting"? How is the effect?
-
Here is my laptop and an external monitor plugged in HDMI port. I am mirroring the image. I opened 2 windows and waited 10 minutes. After that, I closed the windows, and you can see that laptop screen had the edges of windows, and the external monitor not.
It is only noticeable with some colors. In fact, my main monitor ( Dell U2311H) has ghosting too, and i didn't notice it until 2 weeks ago (and I have it since 2011).
But yes, this can be annoying.
I have not had problems with wifi.

This problem has been reported again and again in this thread. You may want to try a complete uninstall of the Intel drivers and then let windows install old, automatic drivers. There are several articles (posted previously) explaining the problem people are facing with this Intel card.
Another solution : change the card (by yourself, or by calling dell). -
Uninstalling everything worked for me. Just clean up anything in windows and device manager and do a reboot
-
Odd, when I used the Samsung Migration Tool Windows detected the device as a SSD without running the Windows Experience Index (verifiable by going to Optimize Disk for the drive).
I also wanted to provide an update that I contacted Dell regarding not being able to use the recovery disk on the smaller SSD. After some pointless troubleshooting (resetting my BIOS settings) they agreed to send me a Windows install disk for free. -
I just received mine today. When I get home I'll test the WiFi and if its performance is not good I'm gonna send it straight back for a refund. The only thing I'm willing to do is maybe try some other drivers for the WiFi and see if this fixes the problem.
-
My wifi has been mediocre but not terrible... It's no worse than my HP dm1-4170us, but that wasn't great to begin with.
-
Okay I called dell about my WiFi, headphone hissing noise, and the fact that the display become unresponsive after a period of time turns black and doesn't turn back on even though computer is still running. They are going to replace my wireless card with the dell 1901 and replace my motherboard. I will keep you guys updated.

I have tested the WiFi with the 16.6 drivers: no change at all, the WiFi still sucks hard and turning bluetooth off doesn't help. I will call Dell and have my card replaced. I will also detail the right USB issue and see what they say about that.
-
I did. I used FarStone Drive Clone 10 Free version. I removed the HDD from the Dell, put it in a USB 3 enclosure, and had a 512GB SSD in another USB 3 enclosure. Then used Drive Clone to clone from the 1TB to the 512GB. Worked flawlessly - copied all partitions, recovery partition works, Windows activated (I did pull the drive from the Dell before ever powering on the system).
Going to try the upgrade to 8.1 tomorrow. I did have the problem where it didn't show up in the store, but uninstalling and reinstalling 1389 fixed that. Been running for about 3 weeks now. -
Hello, brothers.
Replace CPU is possible in model Dell 7737?
4500U => 4600U?
4500U => 4702?
I wont to bying this model as soon as possible, but confused, when read your's posts
(((((((
Sorry for my English, i'm from Ukraine
-
I confused about ssd 840 pro, wifi, no mSata or second Sata, hate Touchscreen, buzzle noise in headphones etc.
But, like design - i like minimalism.
I call this 7000 series modell notebook "Killer Macbook"!!!
-
Sorry to burst your bubble but the quality is nowhere near that of a MacBook, if you expect that you will be very disappointed.
And I doubt you can change the CPU. -
Yes, the processor is soldered to the board...
-
Of course, the quality is not comparable to the MacBook - I just said that is similar to the MacBook. I plan to work on a dell 7737 laptop with a portable external usb sound card, for example: RME Babyface or ALVA Nanoface or ECHO 2 or MOTU Track 16, Focusrite, Lexicon etc.
-
I have M-Audio Keystation mini and i will use any synth, most likely: Spectrasonics series Synth...
-
This laptop model in the maximum configuration to cope with such tasks?
(4500U, 16Gb RAM, FHD etc.) No games - only working!
--
On the Mac will not pass matter of principle... -
To my surprise, WiFi seems to be doing OK for now. Range/speed seem to be on par with other laptops I have. A few (random?) disconnections but I don't know if this is going to be a real issue. Anyway, more testing needed as I only had a couple of hours to play with it.
Also, thanks to everyone that contributed the solution for the missing 8.1 update. I had to follow those steps to make it appear in the store. -
It is not possible. All ULT processors are soldered to motherboard.
-
Does every 7537 laptop has this ghosting issue??? I've seen reviews and comments saying its has a great display....
-
I don't know, sorry. I asked this a few weeks ago and people said to me that they didn't have ghosting. But I am not the only one with this problem. Even Dell told me this.
-
I would really recommend something with a more powerful CPU. This uses a ULV processor that's designed for basic tasks... if you're trying to do something more intensive than that I would look for something with a full voltage processor. Take a look at the HP Envy 15. You don't need a GPU for what you're talking about, and the Envy can be equipped with a quad-core processor that should better meet your needs for audio processing.
-
I'll check mine out today... the background I use wouldn't make image retention obvious. Would you say a light or dark background would be easier to see it on?
-
A grey background should works. In my case I used one grey (#515151) and one blue (#2d4148).
-
Thx.
I hesitated between such models of notebooks due to the large screen and powerful performance:
Asus G750JX
Gigabyte P27K
Dell Inspiron 7737
Asus N750JV
HP Envy 17-j006er
Acer Aspire V3-772G
MSI GE70 2OTS
Chose Dell 7737 because of better design and layout of the ports for the left hand, that my task is very convenient. -
What is not clear to stay. I'll think more ...
-
tomorrow i will order the 7537 version with i7,8gb ram, 1TB hdd, but im a little confused because of your wifi and display problems. I love the design, touchscreen and the other features. So, what do you recommend me between this model and this one: Notebook / Laptop Asus 15.6'' R501VB-S3116D, Intel® Core. i know that asus its a little bit better but i don't like it, it doesn't has new features like TS, illuminated keyboard etc...
-
Yeah... the Dell is really the odd one out there. You have six quad-core powerhouses and then one mainstream ULV powered notebook.
If you want something more similar from Dell take a look at the XPS 15. -
Well, I would mention that image persistence is not uncommon with IPS displays.
Edit: And that might be why Dell told you what they did. There were even complaints about some Apple desktops/laptops experiencing image retention. If it persists after a full refresh of the screen (go to the Start screen or something) then it's a problem. -
I found my answers about sound produce with Dell on this site:
https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=195584&start=165
Huswell CPU not bad, 16 GB RAM it is enough... m-m-mmmmmm -
Well, take the risk and try. Other models consider not want - I do not like anything else. Dell - is another matter...

mSATA - Having both a HDD and SSD
The only thing keeping me from purchasing 7537 is if the above is possible.
Info found till now:
1. Called Dell (am in India): After numerous calls, chats etc to sales, was finally on the phone with a very helpful tech support guy.
(a) Was told that based on the manuals he could access, Inspiron 7537 CAN take both a HDD and an mSATA drive at the same time, however he could not vouch for it being possible after the machine left Dell.
(b) Was told it is preferable to get a machine from Dell which supported both. Surprisingly, after waiting for long and a few emails later, have not been given a model which has both (no such model shows up on the Dell India site either).
2. Compatibility list on this page states that 7537 DOES have an mSATA slot
mSATA SSD Compatibility List
3. The following "forum" replies suggest/confirm that it should work. Not sure how reliable they may be:
Dell New Inspiron 15 7537 Price drop!! - 4th gen i7, full HD touchscreen, dedicated graphics, backlit keyboard, aluminum chassis etc £698.99 - Hot UK Deals - Page 2
(Later this user seemed to be unsure)
Dell New Inspiron 15 7537 Price drop!! - 4th gen i7, full HD touchscreen, dedicated graphics, backlit keyboard, aluminum chassis etc £698.99 - Hot UK Deals - Page 3
4. Could not download manuals from Dell for some unknown reason. Finally downloaded from here:
Dell Inspiron 15 7537 user manual download
The specifications pdf on page 4 states:
Storage
Interface: SATA 6 Gbps
Hard drives: One 2.5‑inch drive
(supports Intel Smart Response Technology)
Solid state drives (optional): one solid state drive (SSD) with Intel Smart Cache support
Not sure how to interpret the above - will both HDD and SSD work together or not?
5. Not sure where I read it, but there was a post about it being possible to see if mSATA is present from the BIOS. I really am not knowledgeable enough. If anyone with access to a machine can check it, it might help.
If anyone has any further information or experience, please add to it. Thanks.
-
There is NO mSata on 7537 only on the 14 inch, the US/CAN sites mistakenly said you could get it with mSata but that was an error and it has been corrected now.
our best bet if you need 2 drives is getting the new WD Black that is 2 drives in one (not a hybrid drive like others), but it's hardly worth the price I think it's the same price as a 500GB SSD. -
I just got off a chat session with a Dell executive (dell.com, i.e. the US website) who said that one could add an mSATA SSD to the machine, while still retaining the 1Tb HDD.
Just makes things very confusing. -
Well you can't on 7537, you CAN on the 14" version, someone here bought the "mSata version" and it had the Samsung 841 OEM sata SSD he contacted them and they explained that it was an error on the site.
It's 10-20 pages back.
EDIT: Here it is http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...dell-inspiron-7000-series-81.html#post9485803ositiv likes this. -
Had my 7537 for a few days now, everything is great apart from the wifi, keeps dropping out even when it's 6ft from the router :-| Had the 'not waking from display sleep' issue too, but that was solved with the latest Intel gfx drivers from the Intel site. Will probably call Dell and see if I can get a different wifi card put in.
