    Thanks mbushnaq!!!

One more question, did you just install the new card and drivers or you had to modify bios whitelist?

There really shouldn't be much difference between the N and AC card they are basically the same - you don't need new drivers or do anything.

In general I think most of the wi-fi issues people are having is related to the antenna.

They replaced my screen for just that reason (antenna is in display unit and it's sealed), and it made no difference whatsoever.

    Hi,

does anyone know the best place to order a DW1901 from in the UK? I have had a look on ebay but it seems to be only available from America? I don't want to go through Dell if i can help it (ordered a refurb 7537 and just praying its been returned for poor wifi!). I would prefer to simply buy a DW1901 (or another alternative) and swap them myself if at all possible

    Thanks! :)

No need to modify the bios, just uninstall the current drivers (Bluetooth and wifi), install the new card, then install drivers version 16.8

I'll get my system Tom.. I 'll let u know the status of WiFi issue .. I think it is wise to go with this model even if the WiFi issue persists, because it is the best configuration with best price..
just buy an internet card by yourself n replace.. which would cost u 25$

If you mean to ask if the screen can be swapped after purchase for a full HD one, I'll say yes. Tots. But why on earth do you want to do that. Just order the full HD and wait for a month. It is definitely worth it.

OK. I've now read through the last 40 pages or so and also the posts on the dell website on this. I have the Intel Wireless-N 7260 per my device manager, although my purchase email says I should have the "dual band" version. I get about 20mbps at about 30 feet from the router but right at the router I get 55 mbps. Also, sometimes it basically stops working altogether (although a reboot fixes this). I have Verizon Fios 50/25. I am running the 16.5.3.6 driver dated 9/19/2013. My Bluetooth connection shows as not connected in task manager (not sure why). Intel's auto detect tells me I am running Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 (but that just isn't right).

From those that have gone through this, what would you suggest?

    1) living with 20 mbps and restarting several times a day to keep that speed. Also praying that it doesn't start having more issues.

    2) Contact dell support to request a replacement card. Seems like many are getting the true dual band card or another dell wifi card.

    Thanks.

To all that have upgraded the hard disk to an SSD, how did you do it? I've just bought a 250GB Samsung 840 EVO and want the easiest and correct migration route.

I've read through most of this thread but still a bit confused so any help would be appreciated. I'm running Windows 8.1.

Well Ive gone and done it and ordered one at last.

Just having a first play with it, and so far Im pretty happy. Its the new revised spec, and it actually came with the NVidia driver, so they got one extra thing right.

One question, before I contact Dell. The box and the online tracking say box 1 of 2. Ive only had the one box, and I cant think what would be in the other box, I didnt order any accessories.

The only thing I can think of is some documentation? For one, the spec says Office 2013 is included, but its asking for an activation code I dont have.

So whats this mystery box 2?

There shouldn't be a second box, so just ignore it.

Office is installed but as a trial (I think) unless you added it during purchase in that case you should have gotten a key for that - if you did buy office that could be the second box.

Has anyone else had problems disabling the irritating adaptive brightness 'feature'?

Ive found the toggle under the advanced section of the power modes, but while it sometimes seems to work initially, it always comes back on. Its the one really annoying thing I need to change about this laptop!

I'm going to buy i5 model hopefully
I'm a casual gamer (like to play MMOs and some latest games, in this case I wouldn't mind keeping some settings low-mid)
In my country I've no option to buy FHD screen with i5 cpu
    i5 is HD by default
    And i7 is FHD
now should I buy I5 with lower resolution? Or i7 with higher resolution, for better performance?
    (both models have same GPU)

you can set the game to run at a lower resolution. Then the performance will be same as the i5 with hd screen. maybe even slightly better due to the better cpu.

    Thank you for the idea
    A last question I have
If I run a games in 15.6' screen in HD res would it show any aspect ratio differences, then FHD
What I mean is... Will the game run in pan and tanned
I wouldn't mind in reduction of details but I don't like
It stretched and and characters looking like v dwarfs
(sorry I've never played in laptop before, this is gonna b my 1st one XD)

Sorry to bring up a couple month old thread.

Yomodev, in the pics you linked from Imgur it looks like there are two USB daughter boards shown, one with the mSATA connector (looks like the part number is cn-04y8t1-74876-3AL-007x-A01) and one without. Were you somehow able to get the one with the connector? Does it actually work if you put an mSATA and the full size 2.5" SATA drive in?

Not really. the full hd screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 which gives an aspect ratio of 16:9.
If you set the game to run at a lower resolution, lets say at 1600 × 900 or 1366 × 768 or 1280 × 720 the aspect ratio is still 16:9.
So there wont be any black bars. :) Someone correct me if i'm wrong ..

    Hi quan74,

the pictures you see are all of the same card! If you look closer you can see there is not mSATA connector (the black area is some plastic on the base).
The part number 4y8t1 (cn-04y8t1-74876-3AL-007x-A01) correspond to the cable only (no card).
Last week I found the part number for the I/O card is MK9TP but still there is no mSATA connector :-(
    (search inspiron mk9tp on ebay)

I think the pictures of the card with msata we can see in the support manual page 37 ( ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-prod...top/inspiron-15-7537_Owner's Manual_en-us.pdf) is only a prototype version, maybe DELL will sell a revisioned inspiron with msata in the future, but I don't know, neither DELL sales department!

So yesterday I gived up: I bought the samsung evo 250GB (B00E391OX6 @129€) because price lowered down and an external usb3 box (B00FPH6QAQ). Awaiting for shipment...

    Bye,
    Yomo

Thanks so much Yomo. Now that I look at the picture again I feel stupid, its the black plastic film underneath the card that I saw.

    I just ordered a 7537 yesterday, expected delivery isn't until March 6.

I already have a spare OEM version of the 840 Pro 2.5" 256GB, and also a Samsung PM830 256GB mSATA. Was hoping to make use of the mSATA and keep the 1GB hybrid that comes with the laptop in the 2.5" slot. Guess I'll go your route and do the full size SSD and an external USB 3.0 drive for larger files.

Also, has anyone else ordered the "External Slot load DVD Drive"? If so, did it arrive with your laptop? Mine says expected delivery date 4/10/14, more than a month after the laptop's expected delivery date!

Do people still have problems with the laptop not fully waking up after sleep? I have upgraded to the latest drivers from Intel's website (the upgraded ones from Dell didn't work very well) and the problem is gone 98% of the time. However, every now and then when I've let the laptop sleep for a bit longer, say over night, then it won't wake up but the keyboard lights up just like before. :(

Only a hard reset works in this scenario. I haven't talked to Dell's support, but it seems to be mainly a driver issue.

What's the experience of other users?

    Kind regards

EDIT: Oh, and I just installed the latest BIOS which didn't seem to fix anything for me.

    Hello everyone,
I'm a new member of the forum from Italy, so sorry for my bad english.
In my country there are three configuration of Inspiron 15 7000, all with a hybrid hard drive 1TB and 8GB for cache, but reading this thread I got it there is not an mSATA SSD, so there in an error in the italian website? Can I simply replace the HD with an SSD?

Hi people. My Inspiron just arrived today. I believe I should check the following:

    1. That the WIFI is working properly. Need to confirm if dual band card or not. Should it be dual band? Can I ask for replacement if not?
    2. Check that there's not hiss on the headphone socket.
    3. Check when battery saving off that the system has decent benchmark results (some have complained very low performance caused by defects).
    4. Check the screen is ok (by sight). Some complained they had issues.
    5. Install nVidia drivers if not present. Confirm 750 in place as some confirmed not fitted as advertised.

Are there any other common problems I should check for?

    Thanks.

Don't install the 840 PRO, for whatever reason it does not work in this machine, after some restarts the computer no longer sees the installation partition - there have numerous people reporting this issue (myself included) ANY other SSD should be fine just not 840 PRO (EVO work just fine),

Not quite sure what you are asking here!

A hybrid drive does not mean that there is a mSata it just means a combo SSD/HD disk - and yes you can replace it with a SSD (just not a Samsung 840 PRO).

Was there a solution to this? My space bar doesn't work very well. If I press it very hard for 5 seconds, it works fine for 5 minutes or so then stops working again. Is this a hardware fault (clearly it is). Did you return your units?

So overall impression after my first few hours with this laptop is that it's pretty good. The screen is nice, the build quality seems good and I is very responsive.

I do have the following problems.

    1. The spacebar is not responsive at all. After pressing the middle very hard, it works for 5mins or so. After that, the edges don't work and it needs to be pressed in the middle only.
    2. There was an issue with backlight flicker. The brightness would flicker up and down on battery mode. In intel graphics properties under battery mode, I disabled 'panel self refresh'. This seems to have solved it.

Not sure what to do about the space bar. Think I'll need to contact Dell and try to get them to repair it.Will report back on general customer service on after sales in the UK. Would be interested to hear if others have had this space bar issue resolved adequately and what the experience was like.

    P.S.
I'm glad I didn't get the high res XPS15. This full HD is more than good enough and I wouldn't want to use the windows zooming feature on a higher res as it messes so many things up.

but i have a great problem with the screen. i will put some fotos of the screen here. the model of the screen in properties/details/hardware-id is: Monitor\SDC4C48. HWinfo64 gives me this information:
