the average brightness nits on the full HD panel is about 280nits. And looks to me that you are suffering from pretty bad backlit light bleeding issue on the screen there buddy. You should ask for a replacement.

Hi ! My notebook's screen panel is 720p. Can I replace the panel with 1080p instead of 720p?
-
I am loving my new laptop since the new wireless card went in but i have noticed today the touch pad seems to have moved somehow, and doesn't sit flush any longer
I have searched for a guide on how to remove the touch pad piece so i can re-seat it flat but the manual doesn't tell me how. Can anyone advice on where the clips are that hold the touch pad in and whats the best way to remove it so i can put it down flat again?
Thanks! -
If it makes you feel better, I have had problems with Acer, Asus, Amazon, Apple and LG products. All have been fixed or replaced fine. As a consumer you don't have to accept poor quality. They will fix it. Defective electrical products is very common. Demand a perfect one. That's what you paid for!

thanks you very much for your answers.
i have talked with dell-support and a technican will come with a new screen to replace it. i hope, that this solve the problem.
it is possible that you have a look, which screens (model number) are built-in in your laptops?
i have another question. where can i see what is installed in the 8GB-cache of the 1TB-hybrid-drive? i only see drive c without any partition and i also don`t see any partition with recovery.
thanks very much. greetings. thomas -

Thanks everyone for the advice. I will call support and request an engineer to come and fix the keyboard.
Now, adaptive brightness. When I'm on battery and I alt tab from a dark application (PHP Storm) to a light application (this page in Chrome), the brightness starts being increased in steps. switching back to the dark window, it reduces in steps. This is not a light sensor issue because it happens only when I switch between apps. It's like it is detecting the brightness of the current window and altering screen brightness. BUT it does it in steps, not smoothly.
I tried many things to fix this. Power options / display / enable adaptive brightness on battery : off didn't work.
This fixed it:
Intel HD Graphics Control Panel / power / on battery / display power saving technology: off
Really interested in people's opinions on how much battery is really saved by having it on. -
For the 1080p model there seems to be 2 screen variations: LG Philips 156WF4 and AU Optronics B156HW01 V1
I have the AU Optronics one and have heard that the LG one can suffer from ghosting so I guess its just your luck.
In regards to the hybrid drive, the 8GB cache automatically stores the most used files on your system to increase performance. As far as I know you cannot choose which files are stored within the cache.tom1159 likes this. -
Hi all,
I am planning to replace my wireless card by 7260 AC in my Dell Inspiron 7537.
Could somebody please give some guidance on how to replace the card ? Is there any youtube video for the same ? I searched, but couldn't find any resource.
Thank you

hi,
Can anyone tell me if the laptop we talking about here is same as this : Dell Inspiron 7000 Series 15.6" Laptop - Black (Intel Core i7-4500U / 1TB HDD / Windows 8) : Laptops - Best Buy Canada
I am thinking of getting one but i read some comments about Noise and Heat up that dont assure me, can you guys tell me that it do have heat up issues ? and is a little noisy ? I am using Acer R7 572 right now and i love that it stay cool even in heavy task and no noise. Dont know if it worth to trade for this dell.
Thanks a lot -
^ yes that is this one you can see that it is Model #: 15Hi7161Ti 7537T5560s
It's not noisy compared to most other laptops, but if you play games or use other intensive applications the fan will run but that's the case with most laptops with dedicated graphics cards.
My suggestion would be that you keep your Acer UNLESS you need the extra graphics power the DELL has. -
thanks for the reply, i don't really need much graphic power as i don't play games, but i do do some video editing occasionally and i see the cpu is max out when i do so. As I saw Dell had double Ram and better CPU and dedicated GPU I thought it would be better deal, but I do get some goodies with Acer R7 like those tablet mode as i can rotate screen in all direction (don't know if i will use it much thought lol) and the IPS screen of Acer gorgeous,, and cool and no noise at all even on heavy tasks.
But as i paid same price as that Dell I thought Dell with better specs will be better deal. only thing bug me a little about Acer is not having the Ethernet port, which is kind odd choice by Acer to not put on a 15 " laptop but at the end i don't know if will ever need to use it with wifi all over.
So you advise that I should keep my Acer R7 572 ? -
As I said I think it all comes down to how much you need the graphics power, I love my 7537 but honestly I don't really use it for gaming so if I had to buy one from new I would probably opt for one with just integrated graphics since it's plenty fast for most things.
The fan on the 7537 do come on from time to time even when just doing simple tasks and it's a bit annoying.
But only you can decide which one is the right for you.
1. take off 4 screws at the bottom, that means only the 4 on the "lid" not the 2 next to the hinge.
2. the wifi card is located two thirds up on the right side - it's hard to miss
3. unscrew the screw holding the wifi card, the card should pop up when you unscrew it
4. take off the two antenna cables (the are fastened by some "buttons"), take note of the orientation (I actually don't think it matters though)
5. pull out the wifi card
6. put in the new one and do everything above in reverse order
-
I tried opening, but lid is stuck on the left had side. I have removed all the screws, but I still don't know what it holding it. I don't wanna break my lid on the first month of purchasing my laptop.
Please help me with this. It is stuck as shown in the below images,
Thanks -
You need to use a little force to get it off, as I recall there are some "locks" on some of the screws, best way to do it is to insert a finger and run it along the side that should loosen it.

Thanks. It worked.

I'm thinking about buying this laptop from bestbuy, the only thing keeping me from buying it is the wifi issue that some people are experiencing. I'm wondering that if you change the wifi card to the 7260 AC does the wifi problem disappear?
If this does fix it, Is this the right 7260 AC card I would need?

Would just like to say how impressed I am with Dell customer service. Called about my space bar problem and they were happy to send an engineer round next day to my home or work. No stress and no difficult questions. They just seem to want to help. If you buy this unit and it has problems, don't worry.

Hi guys!
I have some little questions on you...
Well, will be the OCZ Vertex 4 256GB good for this laptop? I already have bought one a year ago and now it's in my desktop PC. If yes, I'll buy the 1TB HDD/8GB version with i7 and Windows 8.1 Pro and I'll use 1TB drive in USB3.0 external box...Or is there any other difference between this version and the one with ssd and 16GB RAM? Like GDDR3 at Nvidia discrete card or something?
PS: Is this Intel 7260AC card right for Inspiron?
Sorry for my English guys -
This is the wifi card I bought
Intel 7260HMW IEEE 802.11AC, dual-band, 2x2 Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth 4.0 Mini PCI Ex
picked it up on ebay for $ 33.00 -
Hi All,
I will probably buy this laptop in the next few weeks. I am looking at the 7537 model with i7, 8GB, FHD, 1TB/8GB.
My questions are:
1- can I install Windows 7 on it without too much hassle?
2- regarding the hard drive, can the 8GB cache be disabled? Will this affect hard drive durability (I mean, can the disk break sooner because of having this cache?) ? I don't care about performance as much as reliability/durability/security.
3- I am reading something about the intel graphics card and the nVidia 750... does it have both graphics cards? Is the intel embeded into the i7 processor? I don't really need graphics on the laptop so, if it has the 2 cards, can i disable the 750 to save power, generate less heat and prevent the fan from turning on so often?
4- I want to have the OS on a 50GB C: partition, and the rest of space on a D: partition. Can I order the laptop with these partitions already created? If not, can I easily create them when I get the laptop, without having to reinstall Windows o waste too much time?
Thanks! -
I went to future shop today and I bought this laptop, and my first impressions are that this laptop looks amazing. The only problem I had was that my wifi didn't want to work, but I connected with a Ethernet cable and I updated the wifi driver and the problem went away.
-
how much did pay for it at Future Shop ?
it was one sale at Best Buy for $ 949.00 -
I paid the same price $949.99, I did originally go to Best Buy but they were all sold out. So I drove to Future Shop and I got the last one they had.

Hi everybody,
Just got my new dell inspiron today!
Pretty beautifull !
I live in France, so i can't choose the SSD option, just 1To HDD, which is very slow omg ... I will buy a samsung 840 evo!
So, in the notebookcheck's test i read fan are inaudible... But.. on mine, the fan constantly wake up, during 5sec, but it's unsupportable ! I check in the Bios option but there no option about fan speed.
I'am the only owner in this situation?
Thanks -
However, the brightness of this panel is less than 300 nits. I measured 210 nits with a Spyder 4 Pro.
The FullHD display ID of my Inspiron 7537 (purchased from Dell Spain) is SDC4C48, and these are the results I got from a Spyder4Pro:
Brightness: 210 nits
Black: 0,34
Contrast: 620:1
sRGB: 99%
AdobeRGB: 78%tom1159 likes this. -
thank you for your information. the technican was at my home today and changed the screen. now i am very happy with the screen. the problem is solved and this screen has a very good brightness. the screen model he has mounted is an AU Optronics like your screen.
Greetings from spain. thomas -
the technican has built in another screen today and the brightness is much better. i noticed that at once.
the display-id is AUO11ED. HWinfo64 shows me AU Optronics with monitor name: B156HAN [DELL P/N: D7N36].
but now seems that i have another problemi think that the wifi is worse now. not has the stability like before in the signal-strength. perhaps the antenna in this screen makes problems now.
greetings. thomas -
Well the technician was great fully sorted the space bar. But now the speakers don't work. They just pop. No actual sound other than the pop. Did a 5 hour factory reset. No luck. Looks like more technicians needed. Oh dear.

welcome me to the Dell Inspiron 7000 series club. I have the 1080p screen. Wow its sharp and crisp. I had to take out the 1TB hard drive and swap in my 256gb SSD from my other laptop. Now this laptop is really great!!

Just got my one delivered the other day. The only issue is that the touchscreen is not working and I cannot find the driver for it anywhere.
I even called Dell and they could not find it so they are sending out a tech sometime next week :|
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew where to get the driver so I can make sure it is not a faulty screen. -
most likely faulty, windows will detect and install the driver automaticlly

I ordered an Inspiron 15-7000 (7537) with 1080p, 1TB+8GB cache HDD, i7, and, Nvidia 750M and 16GB during the presidents day sale. I also ordered the "External Slot load DVD Drive" from the accessories page before completing the order. My initial delivery date was March 6th. Figuring it must ship soon if the delivery date was the 6th, I went online to check the order status, and to my surprise found that the Laptop order was cancelled, but the DVD drive order was still posted (more on that later). Confused, I jumped on chat with a Dell support agent, and was told my initial order had to be cancelled due to an error on Dell's part. He gave me a new order number, and said the delivery was now scheduled for 17 March. When I asked about the additional delay, he said I would have to call, gave me a 1-800 number, and ended the chat. I then called Dell, and after getting through the automated voice system, then another 20 minutes on hold, I was disconnected. I next called the regular customer support 800 number on the Dell Website. This time I got through to an agent, who confirmed the original order was cancelled due to an error on Dell's part, and that a new order had been placed...but the new order was on hold! I asked if he could tell me why the order was on hold, and he said no, he would have to transfer me to the order modifications department. He then put me on hold, and 45 minutes later I was disconnected again. So, for the third time, I called the regular Dell support line, got through to a rep, and this time she kindly waited on the line with me until someone from Order Modifications answered (about 5 minutes this time). The Order Modifications rep took my information, and put me on hold for about 15 minutes. When she returned, she stated the issue was that the incorrect power supply had been included in my order, and that a new 90W power supply had to be added to the order. This somehow caused everything to get cancelled and re-ordered. I asked about the new delivery date and she said that is automatically generated by the system when an order is placed, but that my order was actually in the priority queue and would be finished before any other orders, and would then be next day air mailed to me and I would likely get it even before my original delivery date.
I'm not sure I believe the issue was just the external power supply, but if it is, why should that derail the entire order? Anyone else order around the same time and seeing delays (I ordered 17 Feb). Also, why did I have to spend half of my day off investigating all this, why couldn't Dell just send me an email, or at least have it in the order notes so the first line support agent could tell me?
Oh, and the slimline external DVD drive that I ordered as part of the original order...its estimated delivery date is APRIL 10th! Two months for a DVD drive? I can't even cancel it and just get one next day from amazon or another vendor either, because it immediately went to "in production".
I used to be a die hard Dell purchaser (personal and work), but the last few years have strayed away mainly due to them not being competitive on price, for hardware but especially for support & warranty services. Now it seems the excellent support I used to get has gone by the wayside as well (yet still costs more than the competition). Is this typical of the way Dell does business these days?
I'll update on the 6th whether or not I have received delivery of the laptop. -
Mine came with the LG panel. Is there much difference between the LG and the other one?
-
Hey everyone,
I've got the Dell Inspiron 7537, and I love it. Great laptop, I'm super happy with it. I've had a question or two that I was really hoping you knowledgeable folks could help me sort out.
It looks like the specs for the European models are slightly different than those for the US models, mine has the i7 processor but it doesn't have the dedicated NVidia card, which kind of stinks. Fist question is (and I hope this isn't too obvious or hasn't been covered before, I did spend some time using the search function) is it possible to add the nvidia card or is it soldered onto the motherboard? My gut feeling is that it's impossible, which is allright as I mostly only play Starcraft, but I would be nice if I could.
Secondly, the 5400rpm 1TB hard drive that this came with sucks. It's not the hybrid drive. I know the hard drive is replacable, are there any hybrids that you guys would recommend? I don't know a lot about laptop upgrades, but my boot time is pretty sad and it would be pretty nice to have a decent cache to fix that.
Thanks the help -
Ordered mine on Feb 26, estimated delivery date was Mar 5th, but it was changed to Mar 10th this morning.

Have anyone tried the Solid State Hybrid Drive with these laptop? Is there a significant improvement over the original 5400 RPM from DELL?

Anything would be faster than the stock 5400 rpm drive in these laptops.

Hey guys
I've had my Dell 7537 for a few months now and I've come across a few problems that may have already been answered but the search function doesn't work for me.
The worst problem is that when the laptop goes into sleep mode (after locking it or after a certain period of time of idleness) the screen fails to turn back on.
The same state of uselessness occurs when I shut the computer down; the keyboard lights stay on, the screen goes black, but the laptop doesn't shut down whatsoever.
Has anyone had any experience with these problems?
Secondly, I'd like to upgrade my HDD to an SDD. I know this was previously discussed on this thread but I'm unaware of the conclusion. Can anyone answer this?
Thanks for your help fellow Dell 7000 users :hi2: -
I wonder if there isn't some other issue (supplier/parts/etc.) going on and they just don't want to admit it. I hope it doesn't take them too much longer this laptop was a gift. -
A need a bit of help if you would.
Inspiron 7537

16GB
1TB Hardrive (not SSD)
Ive owned my Laptop for over a week now and its not been the best experience Ive had with purchasing a new laptop, here are my issues.
a) When installing/updating drivers/apps the laptop will sometimes fail on restart to find the o/s and throw up an error message stating No O/S disc found, looking in BIOS my boot options are 1) Boot device manager 2) network/Ethernet 3)Network/Ethernet. Should O/S not be the first option? (its not even there)
b) It can take an age to install/unzip a program, Im typically seeing a hang time of around 30 seconds before it starts to install it then takes a lot longer than my old I5 desktop to actually install the program.
c) I cant run games in full window mode, Need for speed will run on Ultra if I select windowed mode but it wont run on the lowest setting in full window, I downloaded a £5 game (I cant remember the name but it isnt demanding for any pc) off steam to see how it would run that and the same thing happens.
On boot I ran a diagnostics check and the hard drive had an red X next to it representing a problem with it, when I was speaking to Dell they asked me to run it again but this time it was checked with a Green tick, leading me to think the hard drive has an issue but I doesnt suffer from it all the time.
Dell originally told me to reinstall windows but this did not work as I got the same error as a) ie no o/s boot disk present
Dell then arranged to send out a USB of windows 8.1 to install from but they sent a disc and as i dont have a disc drive in this laptop that wasnt much use, Dell are sending a usb out for tomorrow but to be honest Im starting to think I want a new laptop!
Do you think a fresh install will fix my problems? Should I demand a new Laptop? -
