Should be coming out 2 minutes before midnight... just BARELY meeting the deadline as usual.

-
No they didn't. Mine is not up there.
-
today the rep told me that the led screens were on backorder
-
... the number of comments exploded from 9 to 45ish. I guess there are more...
-
I just looked at the 45 comments they had. I guess they didn't post mine because I had already defected.
-
They probably did not want to have any mention of how many people cancelled their orders to go to one of Dell's premier rivals: Apple.
-
What time did you post your comment?
-

Does anyone know the name of the company that makes these LED displays? AUO panels are going into alot of other Dell notebooks, but they they don't make a 13.3" LED display. They do however, make a 13.3" CCFL display for notebooks.
**Edit. LED screens look like they're from CMO. Hope this a quality company. Never heard of them
-
Pooooey... they musta filtered that comment out
.
-
Don't you mean thier Proc's from thier Disp's?
-
There were other posts of people defecting to Apple, so I don't see why they'd trash your comment.
-
CMO. Chi Mie Optronics or something like that.

wow guys i just got called by an "upper level" dell rep..he gave me a cool tip but said if i share it they will cancel my order..i said so what! so here i am....if you record your status when you call in and then play it backwards...the portion where she is telling you your status..backwards it says "long wait"
its crazy!!! go try it, i just did! -
HA HA HA HA...
-
Classic !!!!!!
-
LOL I called it and asked for my status and she said I got back ordered. I know that most likely all the parts are backordered but I was hoping that she might tell me something more interesting (false hope I guess?). I expected dell to have hot lines that are very professional perhaps sitting at their headquarters with 100 telephones each attached to a phoneline. Infact I was wrong. I heard the lady over the phone yawning. I don't know if she doesn't know that I've heard it or if she just didn't care but she did. She says
*yawn* Murdoc I think your laptop has been back ordered *hears some cup being placed on a glass table* I think you'll have to wait a few weeks and call back to check on the updates. *yawns a bit more* thank you for choosing dell and I hope I've given you great service. Feel free to call us again if you have any questions.
Although I do have to admit that she is pretty nice (in terms of attitude) but she sounded like she just woke up still in her bedroom drinking that cup of coffee. -
I find it interesting that the Dell Australia site can advertise it as "Now Available!" when by all accounts it isn't really. Waiting patiently, just want some accurate info. Don't we all...
-
this is pityful
i keep seeing the dang 1330 commercial...and it always end with "yours is here"
im seriously thinking about canceling, ive emailed my rep i ordered from about the bag and some info, maybe discount or free something -
hey stormwarden,
When did you ordered yours? I'm in Australia too and it was order 16th July and Work in Progress 16th July. Estimate Delivery 7th Aug
-
Ordered on 6th of July, Original Delivery was 26th July, changed to 30th July and now 1st August.
-
You're obsessing...

Hi everyone. been a lurker here for a LONG time and i just had to come out on this issue. i ordered bright and early on 06/28 and have been in the build stage since 07/15. been on dell chat and on the phone and got the same BS as everyone else (out of palm rests, out of the chassis, out of LED Display etc) Also amazing is the fact that at least FIVE separate times they have promised to expedite my order and when i ask if that was already done they offer the # to order modification. Also at issue is I ordered the 4 cell battery and geforce go that is now listed as incompatible. Dell states that since it has not shipped they can change me to a six cell BUT they would have to cancel and reenter my order and I would not see it until mid Sept??? It makes me sick to see all the orders getting out there before mine. I know there are orders before mine and if they were being filled before me that is just the way it should be. but to see me and earlier customers left out in the cold while all the other orders are being filled is just wrong. Not hatting on anybody but this is like getting in line for a PS3 a week before launch day and being told the morning of the launch they are going to randomly select the people who get one
my ESD is 7/29 and STILL in the boxing stage. here is what i ordered :

we're occupied by pushing f5 on the d2d page for a m1330 update they promised us.
-
Less than 30 minutes where I'm at before the deadline. I don't think its going to show up.
EDIT: Its got me worried that Dell is dragging their feet in sharing some critical info on whats going on. Maybe they are waiting until after their quarterly earnings report to spill the beans on what really is going to happen. -
they're in texas, they've got more time
-
Like about one hour and 30 minutes.
-
correct !!! Time for some more stuff to be posted that is not true
-
Kimo I have the same spec as you. Still in "build" 10 days build. What's up with that?
-
where r u ordering from?
-
they posted last night at 11:50-ish...so maybe if we wait?
still sucks...
it better be worth it when i get it, sony sz and asus f8 amd v2 are looking nice -
If they posted @ 11:50, that means the could post it @ 12:50 ET.
-
15 minutes from Dell's HQ.
-
I was talking with a dell rep in chat and they said once you get into the build stage it should take about 10-14 days until your order is shipped. This is without delays though.
-
10-14 Days?!?!?! I wouldn't trust that! Some people fly through that.
-
did u ask including the delays?
-
This is what she said:
07/26/2007 01:11:58AM Agent (Lizy Raphael): "Jared, In Dell we build a customized order which usually takes between 10 to 15 days before an order is shipped out."
07/26/2007 01:12:05AM Agent (Lizy Raphael): "The built system will undergo rigorous testing before it is packed to ensure the quality and then the order ships out."
07/26/2007 01:12:31AM Agent (Lizy Raphael): "The entire process will take 1-3 weeks depending on the availability of the components of the system to build the system." -
First mistake: trusting what the CSR says.
Need I go on?
-
so you call the automated number to see your current status? For many people it says "build stage" no?
-
No this was in a dell chat. When I call to my order status I'm in the Build Stage.
-
T - 40 Minutes

My action letter to the consumerist website re: Dell XPS m1330
http://consumerist.com/
Sorry for the length, some may have wanted to read this.
Any chance we can have you guys work on behalf of hundreds or thousands. A simple visit to http://www.notebookreview.com/ and a search on Dell's official blog http://direct2dell.com/one2one/default.aspx for M1330 should give you enough ammo for a story and truly understand the significance of what is going on to many consumers at the hands of a major company (what else is new, right?).
Your help in exposing and bringing some attention to this situation will greatly be appreciated, and no doubt bring you a greater audience. Notebook Review has 200,000 views and 5000 posts on the subject of the XPS M1330 alone, in less then a month!
At issue is that thousands of consumers have ordered Dell's new line of notebooks being claimed as the worlds thinnest notebook. The specs on these laptops are very high end and geared towards the savvy and professional computer user. As is the case, these computers are fetching roughly $2000 on a typical build. You would expect better customer service from a company trying to regain its lost market share. What we are getting in fact, and has been clearly documented in the aforementioned sites is delays, lies, misinformation, and backtracking of configurations that were supposedly approved, and now being flagged as not working. Dell is having serious problems delivering this product, and all evidence appears that it was rushed to the market with less then adequate testing. Imagine purchasing a computer, being told it would take 4-6 weeks to be delivered, then getting pushed back. Being told numerous reasons for the delays, only to have similar consumers collaborate and expose these lies they were told, all the while the PC you bought 6 weeks ago for $2000 is now out of date and over priced (a function of the computer industry).
Please look into this, just read the forums regarding the XPS M1330 on Notebook Review, under Dell. See the comments from Dell's spokesperson and blogger comments at http://direct2dell.com/one2one/default.aspx (search M1330).
Dell is now playing a commercial on a very heavy rotation, you might have seen already, advertising this particular computer. Seems very disingenuous, especially when the tag line at the end says 'yours is here' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhtgw-tOj-o
PS- I will copy a letter I wrote to Dell customer service manager yesterday that gives just one angle of the many issues revolving this matter. I will also copy and paste this letter to you on Notebook Review.

Subject: xps 1330 P.
For your information,
In regards to our conversation today, about modifying my order to have a 6 cell and a 9 cell battery.
I am still on the phone with customer service. Its been 2 hours since I been transferred from you and have been on the phone continuously since. You transferred me back to your Sales Rep, Rodney, who could not configure the computer with the 6 cell and 9 cell option. Only a 9 + 9 cell or 6 + 6 cell our offered.
I initially called to change my order slightly (increase my ram from 1gb to 2 gb, and my hard drive from 120gb to 160 gb). I am now told that I can't get the same battery options as my current order (4 cell and 9 cell) because of "configuration" issues. You assured me that the 4 cell battery will work with the 128mb video card currently chosen in my system that is in the build phase; despite the fact that a similarly equipped computer on your website flags the 4 cell as incompatible with the 128mb card. You assured me that the 4 cell will in fact work despite what your website says, mentioning that the 4 cell is no longer an option because you believed there was a shortage. Your sales associate tells me otherwise, saying the 4 cell with the 128 mb video card does not have enough "juice" to run the system. Obviously, this leaves me uneasy when 2 dell reps tell me conflicting stories, a 2 hour plus call on the phone with dell, and a ship date on a pc that was to be shipped by a date givin as August 15th at bill out, only to be changed to September 7.
This is allot of grief for someone purchasing a $2000 computer, supposedly Dell's new flagship in their line of notebooks.
I can deal with the long lead time, I would just simply like to change my specs on the computer from 1gb to 2gb of ram, and up the hard drive from 120gb to 160 gb. That is it! I understand I can cancel my current order and order with the changes in mind, however, this prevents me from getting the original battery choices I had selected (4 and 9 cell). I would like to have the 4 cell because its flush with the computer, while the 9 offers longer battery life but protrudes from the backside of the laptop. I still would like these two batteries, despite conflicting stories on whether the 4 cell will actually work. You offered me a free 6 cell upgrade from the 4, however this prevents me from getting the 9 cell...being that I cannot order the 6 and 9 together. What am I to do? Now I have just been transferred to a 5th department, order modification for the second time. They all say I must cancel the order, which is not an option being that I can only choose from a 6 (flush battery, lower battery life) or a 9 (longer life span, not flush). Please help me out. Again, all I'm trying to do is change the order, and if Dell gets this right, I'll be ordering another one for a friend who I've convinced to get one, however I doubt I can recommend this to him now after all I've been through.
ps- The manual for your Dell XPS M1330 under specifications only says it supports a 6 and 9 cell battery, 4 is not mentioned. Am to believe that Rodney, your sales rep was correct and your assurances that Dell no longer offers the 4 cell because of "availability problems" are incorrect?

Still on the phone, about go 4 hours straight. What a way to spend your birthday. Purchase a $2000 computer and spend 4 hours on customer support. -
Most likely... and my optimism is wearing down really fast.
Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped
