but wut i dont understand is y u would get this computer w/o the LED screen. u mite as well just get the 1420 cuz it would be way cheaper and its like a pound more with the same features excluding the fpr.

Just shows you how sad it is that it's already been a month...

Maybe because it's a pound lighter than the 1420 even without the LED display and more aesthetically pleasing... You make it sounds like it's the end of the world if you don't get the LED display.

A Dell rep in Akihabara yesterday said they are expecting wait times of six weeks if you order now.

I find myself doubting whether this is really a good notebook to be waiting so long for. Dell can't get it to the market, it seems almost trivial to be following it closely. I hope it's a great product, but I have my doubts at this point. I'm lucky that I don't need a notebook right away, otherwise I'd have gone for a MBP or a Sony SZ a LONG time ago.

Sometimes I'm in Florida, other times I'm in NY.
I'll change it to Florida & NY. :)

The people who have gotten them seems to enjoy them / love it.... but I think the feelings are mutual within many people in the group. Some of us HAVE defected to get the MPB. :-(

Well, it's at least a pound lighter (is the LED significantly lighter,) thin, and looks beautiful. Plus, I wasn't willing to spend an extra $150 for it (budget.)

Why is that? I find them both great places to live in for several reasons, with the exception that Manhattan is a million times more exciting.

It's shipping to relatives in NY.

After seeing it at a Dell outlet, and being able to compare it with most other available laptops, it still impresses me. As long as there aren't any fatal design flaws, that appear over time ...

If I could live anywhere in the world, I would choose Manhattan. I'm from the NY/NJ area and worked in NYC for, well, for many years. Florida is hot and has big bugs. The only positive is no state income tax. Then again, I'm in north FL so it's not nearly as nice as south FL.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in Duval county who would even know what an M1330 is. :D

Well, here in FL (where I am currently doing work,) there is nothing at all to do (bars, plaza's and too many palm trees.) But in NY, the city is alive during the day and at night. You'll never get bored and can always experience something new.

I was raised in Brooklyn, and Staten Island, spending a lot of time in Manhattan as well, so I must say that I love city life.

Hey Cliegal, I'm in South FL, Dade County to be exact. Where is Duval? EDIT: just checked.. man that's way up there.

Does anyone know what i can do for warranty coverage on my m1330 (since complete care isn't valid here in FL)?

My uni. bundle came with the 3 yr complete care (i was told i can cancel it within 21 days of receiving it, and i'm going to wait till then before i do it so that they don't accidentally cancel something else, knowatamean?

I think its just the standard warranty for you. There was a discussion on it awhile ago. Let me look if I can find it.

Also note that Olive had a T5250... I kknow they said ALL proc's were BO'd but I think the demand for the 5250's was less.

Thanks, i had seen that thread..
I guess my question should have been, is there some kind a third party coverage i can get? (I hope geek squad is not my only option).

hmm.. and i also have the 3 yr standard warranty (I'm sure that's valid here). Does anyone know off the top of their heads what that covers? (I'm going to see if i can find out).

I got the 3 year in home service and next day exchange. That's about as complete as we can get.

Hardware and labour defects to everything except the battery, since that's classified as a consumable.

Basically Complete Care adds on accidental damages as well as other hardware degradation that leads to performance loss of some sort (such as a backlight losing brightness, etc).

It covers everything mechanical, more or less. What we can't have covered is accidental damage. You won't need geek squad with the 3 year service warranty.
