Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped

Ordered today on the 2nd of July and my notebook is due to arrive before the 13th of July i have been given priority shipping. I'll get a call 48 hours before my item ships so i can be in to receive it.

do online order take longer to ship out? I ordered on June 29th and Mine is set to ship out July 29th, but I ordered over the phone. I also got the LED screen so I think it might be something else that is delaying shipment. I didnt get the bluetooth or wireless n card.

 

RAChuck is in England too, so they will have their own warehouses and assembly plants over there.

 

My guess would be that the new part is the Black LCD Lid. In my order my screen is listed twice. Try looking at the top of your order and you should see the LED Display part at the top.

And I did get the 6-Cell battery! So maybe that will hold me up even more ;(

 

I'm glad a few others are seeing the same or similer difference in part numbers. Now I'm not so worried that my order got messed up.

I tried configuring a new M1330 again today on Dell Home and noticed the only upgrade that pushed the estimated ship date back was the LED display. It pushed the est. shipping date back one week.

 

Hey, were you given priority b/c they are actually making a profit off of you vs us Drake people?

 

I just did the same thing and you are right. Also I noticed that now it says 8/10/07 for the base system. Yesterday it said 8/13/07. Maybe they are catching up. ;P

 

No i am going on holiday on the 13th and i was told that they would get it out to me by priority and it would be here before i go.
I actually got them to come down a bit in price and the price that i got for a UK 1330 was pretty reasonable.

 

I HAVE AN IDEA! Everyone here needs 1 pen... 2 sheets of paper. a 41 cent stamp, and an envelope. We have to HAND WRITE letters to Dell telling them we need these laptops before mid July or we will all be taken Hostage by a mysterious kidnapper named Jaques Felipe. Now put some blood stains on these letters and send em to Dell!!! If we're lucky they MAY expidite our systems to be delivered 1 hour earlier!

 

Or better yet instead of a pen use a pair of scissors and a newspaper to paste up the letters in creepy news paper type. "If you do not ship Mr. Blanks Notebook (order number #12345) by July 6th I will kill a kitten! and another for every additional day after that!"

I called Dell today and spoke with them...they didn't mention anything about shipping prior to the date initially given.

 

anyone know if they are guaranteed to ship on or before the estimated ship date?

i ordered with the lovely drake discount and the estimated ship date is july 29th

was just making sure they don't say - well, were behind so its really gonna be august 29th

 

I didn't read anything about a guarantee... at all. I'm pretty sure there is a disclaimer saying they have the right to change anything about the order without prior notification... I swear I read that somewhere on there, not in those exact words.... but yeah, don't hold your breath for that kinda guarantee... and I would totally kill for your ship-date. I gotta wait until August 17th....

 

How in the world did my delivery date get to be 8/28-8/30? Is this a mistake? If not, I'll deal. Mainly wanted to get it before school starts (I move in on 8/25 out of state) How easy is it to call in and change a shipping address?

 

They say it takes 30 days to manufacture the thing... which I do not believe at all... and I'm pretty sure they're having trouble with the bluetooth cause from what I've seen, people getting that are worse off than anyone else. And it's quite easy to change the shipping. Call em up and have your order/customer number ready and tell em you need to change the shipping address. 1-800 433 9014 I believe it is!

 

well i called on the phone and the configuration site had 2 options for built-in bluetooth which was a mistake and they put me on hold for a while and then they said they fixed it - the config sias built in bluetooth for the m1210 (different product code than normal for the m1330), i called the next day about it and they just said that it doesnt matter becauses its the same thing.

hopefully that won't be a problem and delay shipment because i like july 29th alot better than 8/22 or later

 

I do not see it being the Bluetooth. All that is a little add-in card that they stick in the bottom of the laptop. So unless they are running short on those too...

BTW I ordered a 19in monitor at the same time, and they back ordered that until August 1st. And I ordered a Timbuk2 bag and that is back ordered until August 29th!!!! For a huge computer company they seem to be having a hell of a time keeping things in stock.

 

Yeah... they're certainly not having a nice summer... maybe that haven't made the switch from Malaysian factory workers to robotic assembly lines yet?

Err I swear I opted for the LED screen... But why the different part numbers from email and online status?

Sigh and my shipping date is set for 8/22/07 I hit Dell on the chat and phone andboth of the reps swear that the shipment date is way exaggerated and plan to assemble the m1330 within 2 weeks after an order is confirmed... hmmz

 

The slim and light LCD is the same as the LED screen... Dell is just weirdly complex like that.... And slow...

It takes approximately 15 days to build a regular Dell XPS M1330.
Then there's a 13 day maximum delay time allotted for any possible delays.

So then that means Dell does possibly ship earlier by 13 days for the XPS m1330. But then again...that is when conditions are best and no delays are given.

Nevertheless, it's worth the wait and this should ease the minds of some.

 

I called Dell and the rep said my m1330 was in Pre-Production stage

 

If people log into their Dell account, and then add their customer number and XPS m1330 order number... I am pretty sure that everyone who has ordered a m1330 will have a "Pre-production" status on the My Account homepage.

 

Better modify your signature again to ___"eventually" or "hopefully"! I'm not trying to bust on you - it's just I don't trust Dell !!!

 

Would it be problematic to add the order into the Dell Account if you haven't already?

 

I don't think so because I have about 8 customer numbers attached to my Dell account and it keeps track of every single order that I put through.

 

Mine isn't pre-production... mine is in production already... byt I still need to wait until August 17th!!!!!!! >_<

 

Login to you Dell Account...Then on the bottom left corner, select Customer Number...Inside that page, add your customer number, order number and billing zip code. Then go back to the main page and I am guessing that on the top right of the page, it will say "Pre-Production." I have a July 30 ship date and it is in Pre-Production. When I go into the page, it will say In-production because it doesn't have a pre-production designation.

I'm pretty sure we have the LED slim display. I've seen m1330 orders in other threads that have the standard display and it says "LCD and Camera Standard Display" with different part numbers.

 

How am I lucky... you're still gettin yours first...

I tried adding my customer number and it says:

Only Home & Home Office, Small Business, Dell Refurbished and Dell Outlet customer numbers can be added using this feature. This customer number has not been added to your account.

 

Mine's getting shipped out on the 8/22

It should work if you fall under those categories.
Else, you must have purchased the notebook from a place out of those 4 specified categories.

 

Then I am guessing that you ordered via Dell EPP/University. Those customer numbers can only be added to a premier login.
