Wow. I didn't realize the M1330 was so big.
*hehe*
-
I have on orer an XPS-m1330 T7500, 160 gig HD, 2 gig ram,Bluetooth, Nvidia card,Verizon wireless card, LED screen. I have been in production since June 26 (first order date in the US). Estimated ship date on July 31. I have been in build stage since I started calling in mid week last week. I ordered by phone in US as was told a two week wait. I hope Dell can at least hit the estimated ship date. I am retiring my VAIO TX650 to my son. I expect much better speed with the Verizon card. I have had alot of trouble with the Sony/Erickson card. After months of trouble it is working but very sloooow (Cingular Edge). I looking forward to a faster processor, quicker graphics and a bit larger screen yet have excellent mobility. I would rather have Dell take their time and get the machine right then get a defective model. Went through a year of hell with Gateway 8 years ago with a lemon, failed repairs and defective replacements.

Hopefully Dell's able to hit these end of July estimated ship dates. I don't want to see them push back those dates like they did in other parts of the world. -
Just make sure you don't DL more than 5 gigs or Verizion will kill your account
-
... well 5 gigs per month ... just to clear stuff up. They aren't THAT insane (but they are pretty close to it).
-
-
Consider yourself lucky. Just try not to download that much that often. I'm sure if you go over once by 1 G or so ... they'll forgive you. If you do it consistently, consider yourself banned!
-
Wow i never knew they actually had "laws," i guess you could cal it that, on how much you can download at a time. this seems just sooo rediculuos to me, anyone else?
What has the internet become????!!?! -
I have a few pictures i snapped of a demo model of the m1330 but i cant post it from work. I can e-mail it to someone so they can post it. Pictures aren't great quality but its something. Any want to volunteer to post the pictures?
-
Arghhh... Dell's website doesn't change the order status. I wish at least they mention which part of the "In Production" phase they are in. Currently I'm still in "build" mode.
Oh wow, I didn't realize that my NBR title changed from Notebook Geek to Notebook Consultant. Groovy. -
-
I am not sure if this was already mentioned and if it was I am sorry but the direct2dell blog website had an updtate on 7/20 for the m1330 more bs in my opinion but its new stuff and not the update they corrected before this is all new http://direct2dell.com/one2one/default.aspx

I have the Kyocera card and I like the speed. Just got the V740 and can't wait to try it out.
By the way you get a better deal from Verizon than Dell. -
-
I think you mean the only information we liked hearing.
-
that m1330 ad probably really shows how they are making them in real life since its taking so long they are still trying to figure out how to fit the engine into the machine.

Is anyone worried that when your m1330 arrives that it will have the same grainy screen problems that other new Dells are having?

-
did anyone try calling the order status number today?

There doesn't seem to be much new to say about ship dates, so I tried configuring the m1330 on the UK and US websites to compare prices with what I'm paying. My spec is:
Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor T7300 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB, 4MB Cache)
Genuine Windows® Vista Ultimate Edition
Standard Display with 2.0 Megapixel Webcam
2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
Size: 160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW Drive)
128MB NVIDIA® GeForce 8400M GS
No Fingerprint Reader
I'm paying 198,000 yen. The UK price is £1,133.99, and US price is $2070. Converting the yen price into GBP at the current rate makes it £794, looks incredibly cheap - but that's mainly to do with the strong pound.
Just in case anybody is on the brink of asking why I chose the steam-driven chalkboard instead of the WLED... don't. -
-
-
ok - the long version is that I have to budget under 200,000 yen, and Vista Ultimate is a must so I can convert the interface from Japanese to English using the MUI.
The short version is - I didn't know what a WLED was when I ordered it. -
-
they dont offer any english OS on the japanese site, only english keyboard
and about the LED in japan, the lead time for that here was 5-8 weeks... -
-
-
seriously, its going to be a pain. i think ill be dual-booting the japanese OS and ubuntu. if it gets too unbearable ill have to buy a copy of windows *wince*
-
-
-
im on a pretty tight budget, and i figured i might as well give ubuntu a try, and if it doesnt work out, i can always fix things up later. im really regretting not getting the LED though...
