Maybe we should start a pool as to which post will announce someone has their system in hand....

I think post 2389 will be the winning post :p

It's been quite a ride - and made the waiting, dare I say it, almost constructive.

Seeing as Japan is a stone's throw from Malaysia and the postal system here is really excellent, I hope to be posting some pics of a real live M1330 next week... or possibly of the sales rep with a bloody nose after he's delivered the wrong spec model at the wrong price.

I'm sure a few of you will get your systems next week... and I'm looking forward to reading many of your initial reviews.... AND i'm also looking forward to me drooling all over my laptop shorting it out and then "office-spacing" it out the window. :p

If it actually turns up I'll post as much amateurish, non-technical info as possible. Sorry I don't know how to get PCmarks etc, but I can definitely comment on how it compares to my beautiful, always reliable (but heavy) Rock Pegsus 650.

Watch the secretions blahdude; that's two orifices you got going

I'm sure we'd love to hear your comments about getting the XPS m1330.
If possible, could you take plenty of glamor shots of the notebook.
We'd sure love to drool over it :D.

I agree - once I get it it's only going to do pretty much the same things my current computer does. Maybe the Vista interface might be fun though...

Mine will be so much better... it won't randomly shut off like my current one, it won't take 15 minutes to boot up, it won't die from slightly intense graphics cause it has a intel graph card, etc etc etc...

I will never buy a Gateway again!

I hope once people get their notebook, that there is no issue with it. Maybe interesting to then see if next day service does not turn into next week or next month service with regards to warranty :nah:

Yup, had all of those issues with all the computers I've ever had except my present one; I switch it on - it works, end of story. Plus it has switchable graphics cards. The company also give a good percentage to charity as well. Sorry if this sounds like a promotion, but it's so great when something actually does what it's supposed to.

ok, 9am here. Take breakfast, check my status, catch up with the 10 pages of posts on this forum, check the other forums.

    I love my life :)

But I'm going out all day long, I honestly don't know how long it will take me to read all the new posts tonight. I feel depressed. I should stay home all day long I guess :) No matter how shiny it's outside.

Yeah, or not dislocating my shoulder while standing in line at the security gate at the airport.
Actually being able to COMEPLTELY open it up in an airplane of a low cost carrier (hey i can't afford to do all those domestic flights in business class).
Not being on the lookout for a wallsocket every hour or so.
Actually being able to carry something else in my handluggage besides a notebook like maybe a backup shirt or so.

The D620 is a company one and i only need to take it for a trip once a quarter or so. Its actually pretty nice, but its usually a "domestic notebook", kept inside the secure company premises. My old 17" was a pain in the a** to carry around and is going to be replaced by the 1330.

This is what it boils down to for me too. I used to take 5-6kg of camera equipment and a laptop as carry on, but with the tightened security it's all got to be slimmed down to 6kg. Sorry this is OT!

Saw the TV commercial for the M1330.

Ironic they use a huge V8 to sell a tiny laptop... Muscle, Power, Tools... Arrrggghhhh!

Same here, and to put the glas in the checked-in luggage is an absolute no-go. so i had to send my equipment on a diet, and i wasn't able to convince my Canon L Telezoom to loose weight :D

The spot was on TV... did a search but could not find on the web. Very cool like the M1330. Sounded like Devo music to compliment the huge V8 and three beautiful women.

Colors are all over the aluminum, chrome, black white and red of the laptop.

Have you tried putting the camera body in a fanny pack and wearing it behind you. That can take care of a few 100 grams at least.

No i'm still here, just had some breakfast.
Still pre-production over here, but i don't expect that to change for at least 2 more weeks i guess.

Yes a real review would be nice, with performance figures for some games as well. Maybe even test it with some online games, WOW, LA2, EQ2, DAoC or Eve-Online would be interesting.

Yeah would be a great idea, my 2 entries on that list:
    - battery life while HDD/USB key base movie playback
    - MMORPG performance (WoW would do fine to estimate how it is performing)

By the way i'm quite annoyed by your signature pieman.
We ordered the same day, my estimated delivery was 19/07 and now it has been postponed to 16/08. why do you ahve an earlier EDD then i have at the moment? *ponder* And its not just a day, wouldn't care about that at all, no its more then a week!

    Cloudhopper,
Are you from the UK, if your not then that might explain it?
Plus, i actually ordered on the 30th June, but they cancelled it cos of their silly incompatability problems with the processor and finger scanner!!!
So this was a new order from the 3rd July.

Maybe thats why?- Im not sure, i havnt complained or anything I just took it as thats all they can do, since if theres no parts theres no point in complaining really (Well thats my theory)

In case I receive it first, I'd be doing two reviews- The first would be a general review covering battery life, performance etc. The second, a full fledged gaming review would take me some time, since it requires lots of work, and I have my hands full for a couple of weeks or so. Requests for anything apart from gaming are welcome.

Not UK but ROI, so its market wise the same thats why i started wondering.
Ordered 3rd July, first EDD was 19/07 so its pretty similiar with yours.
But now i got postponed more then a week longer than you, really makes me wonder.
Will have to check with my sales rep on monday i think.

Yea go ahead, let me know what they say! Ours must be coming from the same factory?

It might be that i am gonna be delayed another week? or that theyve simply overestimated your EDD?

Im also gonna give em a call cos i go away on the 5th August and i need it then, (I thought 5 weeks would be enough for a laptop to be build and sent, but obviously not) And im sure they can pust it to arroive 2 days early after all this wait. My Main worry though, is that the glass hasnt arrived to make the screens, nevermind making the laptops, so if it takes a week to make the glass, another week to build the screens, then another week to fit them to the laptops, who knows... another delay might happen!

I hope they won't delay you another and that my EDD is a very conservative estimate, at least i hope so.

Gateway's quality has gone down considerably ever since they acquired E-Machines. I owned the Gateway m320x and it gave out after only 2.5 years. Before that I had another Gateway laptop which lasted some 4-5 years. Between those two times Gateway got E-Machines and has lost its touch. Hence why I'm here now, looking at different makers.

The m320x was somewhat close to what we now call ultra portables. It was pretty light, at about 5.5 lbs with the extended battery (9-cell). The battery life on it was amazing, cranking out roughly 5 hours. I loved the 14.1 inch screen size, which was crisp and clear. Unfortunately Gateway did not continue this model's line . Gateway does have a 12.1 inch ultra portable, but its not powerful enough to handle my work-related needs.

The Dell m1330 will be the replacement for it, and I expect an enormous amount from it. And, it looks uber-amazing.
