I second that notion. As I've said before, "always look at the glass half-full."

At this point... the glass might look half-full... but when you try to drink out of it... its dry. :(

I paid 2,600 for the same config except with the LED, 200Gb, Slim Power adapter, 4+9 cell, Vista Ultimate and 3 years of everything. Including 12% EPP, $100 off and no FC for a year.

    The prices seem similar.

hmmm... since quite a few of us are at the build stage now (and it seems like they happened at around the same time for a few of us) perhaps that means that things are "normalizing." Maybe they're sorting things out and its Dell isn't as lost and our orders aren't as hopeless as they seem. Perhaps this means we'll be getting our m1330's a good time before out estimated dates (which is usually the case when NB's aren't on backorder). ...poop... i can't wait till september... and this thread and this forum don't really help with the obsession either... sheesh:tongue:

    i need sleep.

    Interesting read... esp this part...

... "Also it seems the reason the units are being delayed are for a multitude of reasons. In my case its apparently because they are backordered on LED backlit screens. This having been said another part that is backordered is the 2.0 MP webcam for the non LED backlit screens. I was also told by the employee that the engineers actually stopped production on the line because of some reengineering that was needed on the m1330. I'm assuming they found that something wasn't practical to build after manufacturing started." ...

If all goes as estimated, I'll get mine just a few hours before leave the country. I've been told that if they think its new, they could charge you import fees. Is this true? Any tips to sneaking my shiny, new M1330 across the border? Also, which battery do you think I should bring? (I have 4 and 9)

Called Dell again today since mine was saying delivery on the 25th in Australia (ordered July 4th), which is only a day and a half away, but it was still in production stage. Was told that parts for my laptop will not be available until August 6th, with overnight delivery on August 7th expected. Sure enough they've revised my ETA in order status for the third time... was July 18th, then July 23rd, then July 25th, now its August 7th.

Which means I'll now be doing two weeks of a programming course at university without a computer... assuming they can even deliver on the 7th of August. They flat out refused to provide any compensation, saying that it is against Dell policy to do so. And now that university starts tomorrow morning, I can't even sneak down to the Sony store and get a Vaio, because although they are much more reasonable than Dell, Sony's lead time is still two weeks on an SZ.

    Ordered 3 July in Japan
    1st EDD 10 - 13 July
Today the rep said I may get it between 3rd and and 15th August. He advised me to cancel and reorder as this would ensure a quicker delivery - I couldn't see why, so stuck with my original order. Now considering Thinkpad or pencil and paper.

Put your laptop in a laptop carry case, and keep your reciept on you, it should show that you have paid tax in the country of origin and that it's for personal use, but don't volunteer to show it unless they ask. Post yourself all the manuals and other paperwork that came with the computer (and box, if you think you might want to sell it later). Only a geek customs official is going to know the m1330 has just come out.

I guess the battery thing is up to how long you expect to use the computer unplugged.

Dell Malaysia sales rep rang earlier today (GMT+8) and she said that the EDD of my unit is some time September now. Apparently the vendor for the WLED screen is only delivering the first batch of screens early September. She said wait till next week to cancel my order in case the situation changes.

I guess those of you with CCFL screens should not face this delay.

    Are you from the UK?
Its the opposite for me, theyre waiting untill 27th July for the CCFL screens to arrive. Might change it to the LED one now to see if it would be any faster!

Hi all, I'm new to posting in the forums but I've been lurking for a bit watching people's order statuses!

Anyway, I ordered my M1330 on the 5th July (from the UK) and my EDD was the 31st July... And despite it still being in pre-production(online) or possibly in production(when I talk to a rep) the EDD is still 31st July as of 10:20am today...

With so many people's EDDs being constantly pushed back, both here in the UK and elsewhere, I was wondering if anyone can shed any light on whether my EDD is realistic or not!?

    Thanks in advance!

I can't believe that tbh. Dell promised me no end on the phone that the missing part, which they refused to name exactly would be arriving on the week of the 23rd.. Although EDD is now August 7th, I can't imagine it taking until September, that would just be insane.

They wait until 36 hours before your EDD, and then they push it back, to raise your spirits and then crush them. To dell you are a donkey with a carrot in front of his nose.

I ordered the same date and you and got the same EDD. It's useless talking to Dell reps about it because they just see the same status that you do. I've heard they see 'pre-production' as a production stage and this may be why a rep told you it was in production. If it's going to be delayed, I don't think we'll find out untill closer to the date.

Dell also told me that the uk factory build time for the1330 is between 2 and 5 days on the 5th day, they call you to arrange a courier!

They keep you in pre production if not all the parts are there yet,or theres a queue. But once your in build, they say that after 5 days youll be getting a call!

My rep suggested that if I cancel my order configured with CCFL screen and order the WLED (which is what I wanted to do a while back - but he said I couldn't) I'd still be able to get my computer before my D-Day of 19th August. I'm assuming that Dell Japan is supplied by the Malaysia plant, so it all sounds dodgy.

Heh some very conflicting ideas there! Well the 5 days thing sounds about right...

What with the EDD being on the 31st, and the fact that I've been promised a call on Thursday (5 days before my EDD), I guess it could go either way. Let's hope it goes the right way for everyone that hasn't had their EDD changed yet!

I hope it goes well for you all too. I was quoted 20th July for delivery and that got moved to 8th August (2 days after i leave for spain)
The whole point of the laptop was so i could take it away cos its small and light, and still use it for work etc. Ah well, you cant have everything.

Btw , i tried for the free printer, but they wouldnt have it. I cant have it cos it woulod mean cancelling and re-ordering apparrently, although im not even in bloody build lol!

Sounds fairly promising but do you know what the delayed your order? I got the same spec as you except from the 7200rpm drive, finger print reader and bluetooth. Unless any of those delayed you, I guess mine may get delayed too...

Has anyone wondered why there are people who read message boards and like.. froth at the mouth when topics go off topic?

It's like their worlds become shattered, and they run into the back of their room crying...

Like I understand a desire for there being order, sure, but to get so ... horribly angry over a natural conversation evolving about their obsession with finding out when their XPS will ship (which in turn leads to a series of tangents like this, you know, like in normal conversation..).

I just have this image of them talking to someone.

'Hey man what's up? I just got a new skateboard.'
'That's cool! Man this has great wheels. Lawl green wheels-- that reminds me of that time we got picked up by the popo.'
'HEY! hey! stay on topic. New, skateboard.'
    '..um.. but I was just--'
    'ON. TOPIC.'

    bwee hee :|

Anyways, I believepeople have asserted that your status doesn't update till 9 AM and 9 PM or some such.

Has anyone confirmed when one's status actually changes? It does seem to be at regular intervals.. I don't really see a point in calling till the middleor end of the day. Last I checked I was in Build Stage (checked on friday..)

Yer, i mean for the sake of a free printer, apparently your gonna have to cancell your order and re-order, but i bet thats just to put you off. How about complaining about the premiumrate numbers we have to call and how their website doesnt tell us the fee? That might scare them if you ask for a refund, then they might stick the free printer on. Depends if you get an understaning rep or not i suppose?
