Cappy, there's a phone number you can call to change your order.
-
-
I don't think anyone's status would change on Sunday's...
-
Thanks Fren.
Unfortunately, they decided to cancel the order before even contacting me to give me that option. -
Why did they cancel?
-
Actually, it is true.
-
Talk to your rep. You shouldn't be at the back of the queue. My rep said I should still get mine in the first week of August. I don't really believe him but we'll see. My estimated date on the website is September but I went from pre-production to production in half a day, so I think they're hurrying my order.
I have to call back tomorrow to see if they've made progress on the Bluetooth issue. They might be able to put it back into my laptop. If they can't, I am going to demand that they send me the Bluetooth module separately and free of charge so that I can put it in myself. -
That's what I get for adding bluetooth
How long is the delay ? -
That's exactly what I thought Matt, unfortunately, that was not what they did. It was my rep that called me to tell me about the issue and he said that there was nothing that they could do other than re-enter the order and start from scratch. I didn't want to get upset at him because I realize that he was just the messenger so I asked to speak to the manager. After waiting on hold for almost five minutes my rep came back and relayed a message from his manager saying that there was nothing that they can do. He wouldn't even speak to me! That just incensed me and I wanted nothing to do with Dell after that indication of how much they actually care about their customers. You would think a company losing market share at the rate that they are would actually care to hang on to loyal customers...obviously not.
-
I dunno.. call back and ask to speak to someone else. That just seems wrong. My rep assured me mine would stay on track and be on time. I will be none to happy if that doesn't turn out to be true. All I do know is that my order is back in the system and in production, so you should tell them you expect the same for your order.
-
It's supposed to be fixed by the end of this weekend but who knows.
-
What could the problem be? It's a just a USB dongle stuck in the internal USB port. I would think it's the same one used on all the other dell systems.
-
I don't think it's a physical problem. Perhaps software?
-
Yeah, I'd really like to know myself. Dell isn't too bright, I guess. It isn't a problem with the actual hardware. It's a problem with Dell's internal ordering system. So when they go to build a system in Canada that requires the Bluetooth module, some kind of error appears in the ordering system, so they send it back. The ordering system is supposed to be fixed by the end of this weekend. Maybe they hardcoded case statements for SKUs and forgot a semi-colon for Bluetooth. hahaha

I think my m1330 may at least be within a few hundred miles. It left Memphis this afternoon and is probably in FL. now.
Hoping for no surprises, like LCD instead of LED, when I open the box. -
sorry for coming into the chat, but i've been keeping up with you guys too even though i ordered a vostro.
I see that for most of you the build stage doesn't last more than a few days. Is this true for most other laptops from dell? I've been in it for 3 days now and that would be great to be in boxing tomorrow lol. -
Many of us have been in BUILD for 1 week or more. :-(
-
TRY A FEW!
-
Well... many of us m1330's who are in BUILD.
-
Isn't it also possible that many of these cancellations are just a smoke screen for production still not being truly up to speed? The original b
ll
ks about either the WLED
or the 2mp camera being unavailable - conveniently putting nearly all ordered configurations behind schedule was so dodgy.
-
I've been in build since last friday. :|
Ordered 6/26 too! -
I've taken the plunge and will wait until I can see one in person. I placed an order at a Dell kiosk today. They apparently had a $200 off coupon valid on systems over $2k including XPSes and that was supposedly good until today. It came out to be a little cheaper than the discount Dell gives employees of my company.
I might cancel and place an order for the much cheaper, older M1210 when I finally see a M1330.

WOW....... thats a long estimate shipping date!
Welcome to the family... LOL. -
I found a post at the RandomProcess website that discusses some developments about the massive delay in shipping the m1330. Its basically a recap of what we already know, or almost know. Here's the link: http://www.randomprocess.ca/2007/07/16/not-quite-what-i-meant-dell-xps-m1330-delay-part-2/

Yay. Go me.

LOL... you get a lot of popularity on that blog don't you? I did the same thing dbam987 did awhile ago (post about your blog). LOL....
... but good job on blogging! It might spread the word about the problem. -
Ah, thats right. I remember someone posted an earlier link to your blog a few hundred posts back. Good article.
-
... it was ME!
-
Yeah, actually it was one of those numerous posts I wrote about the M1330 issues that prompted a manager at Dell corporate to contact me. I gave him a few suggestions, mostly regarding getting a person in a position of knowledge of the issues to come here and post about it. In the process, perhaps address some of the concerns about the rest of the Inspiron line as well. He said he would forward it to his VP, but haven't heard back from him since. Maybe it's time I prodded him on the matter again. There's a lot of negative talk about Dell in general these days, adding in the new Inspiron's display, audio jack, and 8600M GT.
-
Fletcher Reed!
-
... mention also the order status/production communication cause IT SUCKS!
-
I will again. My original concerns regarding communications on the matter was forwarded on to Lionel Menchaca of Direct2Dell fame. I'd hope I was part of the reason that he's been updating a little more, although I was somewhat incensed at the 'misinterpretation' that ended up being a complete about face - from 'they'll be shipping and your estimated ship date is probably going to move up' to 'they're not shipping and don't expect it earlier than your estimated ship date'.
Wow, 999 posts blah. What... 3/4s are in this thread?
-
Yeah... 1001 now! I've also been posting comments on the Direct2Dell blog... and hoping that my concerns come off (which he did ... when I saw my name mentioned on the next blog update), but voicing your opinion is one thing... getting stuff done is another.
-
Do they have a lot of complaints about the delivery times of the M1330?
-
They probably have more complaints registered than there are orders for the laptop itself.
-
Just wondering if anyone got a better price then I did for this particular setup...

How can you tell without opening the case? Never seen an LED lit display.
-
thinner screen= led
-
Mine totalled just above $2200, and I did not get the 3 year CC and 200 GB Hard Drive!
-
lol, true, but does she have the CCFL screen to compare to?
-
The lid will be bendy somewhat. I've never seen a laptop lid that bends like the m1330 did in that one video on youtube.
-
Judging by pictures I've seen, the standard LCD has a curvature towards the top end of the cover. The LED thin version has squared edges all the way around (no curvature at the top).
-
Which video is this?
-
right, when everyone gets their 1330s, get to bending
-
Or T7500. Guess I got a good deal. Hmmmm

Go to 2 minutes and 50 seconds or thereabouts.
-
Yea... found it on my own. Really flexible! Thanks though!
-
Duh... bedtime now.
-
Good night! Tomorrow will be a new day... hopefully with new info!
-
Don't you always say that
-
LOL... Actually... no ....
