13th July was what dell tells me, although I ordered it on the 9th. I am guessing 13th is the date they deducted the money from my account..
-
sesshomaru Suspended Disbelief!
-
They can't even get your order date right, let alone your delivery. Nice!
-
On topic, whats that!
ordered 21 days ago, due in 15 days, still in pre-production -
I just got an e-mail: "Please be advised that we are facing some technical problem with our online tracking tool as it is not updating."
-
S**T, they promised I'll get it the 10th of August and I have a plane the 15th... Perhaps ours will come faster because we didn't ask for the LED screen?
-
It's sort of weird that they're not sending it out first come first serve. Mine reports as still being in build, compared to Sesshomaru..
... then again, I'm not.. in.. India.
Still, I ordered on the 29th so... Yeah, odd. -
Bloody well hope so, apparently that had a screen glass shortage in the uk atm until 27th where they expect a delivery of new parts
Anyone know how much thicker and heavier the non-led screen will be? -
Still in build here, ordered on the 9th.
-
Haha, what the point of checking daily? You may as well wait a few days, maybe even a week (oh gosh, the thought) and perhaps be pleasantly surprised.
-
sesshomaru Suspended Disbelief!
Yep.. Or if you wait a week, it may even land up at your doorstep.. Now wouldn't that be pleasant?
OT: Here, people ordering now are getting ship dates of 30th July. It looks like my rep was correct- All regions have a fixed no of units allocated.. -
I just went through the order process and found the date to be 8/15, then I added the proper 9 cell battery for the nVidia card and received a date of 9/4. So the US is still having problems.
-
This number still states afterhours now. Even though it is 7:15am. WTF!!?
-
Dell UK list the weight of the CCFL type with 4 cell battery as 1.79 kg. With a 6 cell I reckon it's around 1.9kg. From some of the photos of the CCFL screen version I think it's about twice as thick as the WLED.
-
Is anyone getting there's today?
-
cheers, do you have a link for those pics?
-
I can't remember where I saw them - it may have been the original product launch video from Dell - I found it by searching M1330 in YouTube. Could be one of the threads on M1330 pics here in NBR. Sorry. I do remember thinking - it's not that bad....
-
I am. That is I am if they have shipped the correct laptop, with the correct screen AND if Fedex delivers as specified, by 3 PM.
I keep thinking it would be just my luck if I got someone else's pink, Inspiron 1720 by mistake.

It's possible that the 4 cell batteries reach a drain rate that is critical across only 4 batteries; this is where lithiums like to blow up. I had an aero project where I had to extend the life of a battery powered engine so I went from ni-cads to lithium and it took me forever to find decent batteries. I had to find high discharge lithiums, then I had to rig them in a way that would reduce the load even more...this is achieved through using more batteries. I can only say that it is possible that the 4 cell could become critical.
I personally believe that the real case is that the 4 cell just drains dead too fast. You could just downclock your video card with rivatuner...and you can go quite far now with these higher powered cards.
Anyhow, I would just recommend 6 cell over 4 just because they both look the same...you get extra life (dell made the 4 cell to meet the weight restrictions for ultra-portable) and it's just like carrying an extra 3 or 4 aa batteries. -
I know that now. There was no 6+9 option though. Only 4 + 9. Trying to call the order modification department now. -
Still after-hours...
-
Don't change it unless you just ordered within the last few days or if they won't affect the delivery date. You can always just order one 6 cell battery and ebay the 4 cell.
Good luck. -
I suppose you could justify a 4-cell if you only wanted a battery to power the machine in standby mode and always planned to use it on mains power... but perhaps they discovered if you packed the machine with upgrades (Graphics card, 7200rpm HDD, Bluetooth, Wireless, but perhaps not the WLED screen) then the 4-cell couldn't cut it. It is the sort of thing that might have slipped through initial testing until someone plugged removable hard drives into both USB ports.
-
No. I just want them to ship me a 6cell on a separate order from the laptop and I'll return the 4cell to them.
-
good idea, or itll be another 3 weeks for the 1330 to arrive!
-
I figured the 4cell would last about 1.5 hrs on my config which is more than enough for a short meeting or wi-fi stop. The 9cell I envisioned for plane trips and longer outings.
-
That should work.
I don't know how they could mess this up so bad...these lithium batteries give the discharge rate...it seems that the laptop makers have just been ignoring them. -
if people dont recieve their M1330's this week, im going to change to a Benq joybook S41 which has a more powerful GPU
-
It's a shame dell couldn't put an 8600 in this...that would crush all competition.
-
I really want the hdmi output. but might just flip over to a macbook (if i can convice apple that linux won't void the hardware warranty) and get a elite xbox 360 that has hdmi out on it. I really don't see a need for a portable hdmi output at this time since very few monitors I see in my day to day travels have hdmi and I was going to have to attach an external hd-dvd to the unit anyways. Will give to the end of this week to get out of building stage. I don't see how it could truly be in "build" stage for over a week unless there was some kind of stoppage.
-
PowerEdge, I am with you my friend!
-
back to the build stage for me this morning
Chat was fun last night
-
Did dell downgrade you?
-
on the phone now. They can't ship a 6cell on a separate order and to "fix" my current order they would have to cancel it. She's saying that since it was a valid config at time of order that my system will still be built per the config guidelines. I am afraid though that won't be the case.
-
they canceled my order yesterday and I had to get it reinstated. It could be a good thing
-
Why? Battery config?
-
OK. So I received my m1330 yesterday. We had family in town so I didn’t get to play with it until this morning. When I got it cranked up I was like WOW! Talk about awesome! Then I noticed something in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. It is a pin size bright spot! I guess that it’s a burned out pixel but not sure. Just my luck to be the first to get my system and get a bummed screen. Time to get on the phone with Dell.
-
Why did they cancel it?
-
That sucks.
-
Can you post a picture of your unit?
-
Tell me about it! Everyone make sure and check your screen good!
-
Really bad luck. A part from that what are your first impressions?
-
They couldn't give me a reason and I really didn't have the time to talk to indian reps for hours to find out -
I'm gonna be honest in the fact that im a redneck and don't know how. I'm also not like these other fools who are crying wolf!! It came with a nice black sleeve to put it in that I wasn't aware it came with.
-
Sorry about your luck tileman but hey, you got it so we know they exist...lol
-
Hmm I didn't know about any sleeve, thats a nice little addition
-
Yeah that is a nice little addition. Tileman, do you have a digital camera?
-
nice, confirmation that it does come with the sleeve
-
FYI...automated system is down again! lol
-
Remote control included? Earbuds? thanks!
Post when XPS M1330 ordered and when/if shipped
