Can some of the people who were able to negotiate a good deal please post some tips? I'm looking to order a 1330 and would love to know what to say.

Heh heh hhe.... its really hard to get a good deal on this cause its TOO FREAKIN POPULAR (not including a backlog). You could've gotten a good deal if you ordered it when it just came out (with coupons and such), but right now, they won't even offer anything to keep you from cancelling your m1330 (besides next day shipping and expedited services).

    :(

Well, we'll see. Apparently the first palette to Canada with a few thousand systems should be here by the end of July. And the rep I spoke to earlier today said my system should ship sometime next week, presumably from that initial big shipment from Texas to Pickering. So I'm hoping to see it around August 3rd.

I also feel somewhat annoyed and worried by the Est. Delivery Date. Mine is on August 22nd.
And I'll be leaving the country on the 23rd. So if the notebook doesn't ship on the shipping date, I will cancel it since I won't have any other choice and then purchase a notebook from CompUSA.

    Probably the HP Compaq 6910p.

    Hopefully, no further delay happens.
I'd be much happier with the m1330 :D.

I'm due to ship in just about a week, and I configured my XPS m1330 with the 4 and 9 cell option on June 26th. I've waited patiently and have not called dell once. If they mess with my order and cancel it or pull any type of shenanigans I'm going to be straight up livid. Its bad enough waiting more than a month for this thing. If this battery compatibility issue turns into another crisis, its going to make dell look even worse. Sigh. This is the first laptop I've bought, and its just a seemingly endless nightmare. Why did this have to be the last post I read before bed.

Ive been in build for almost 2 weeks now. Im extremely disappointed that they only now have started letting users know that the 4 cell is not compatible with the NVidia 8400M. And its extremely irritating that there wasn't an option for a 6 + 9 cell. Dell needs to get their act together. Granted I dont know much about product launches, but I can't picture a worse launch than this-- with all the rumors and speculation flying around the internet about the m1330, and so many users canceling orders. Like I said, a complete nightmare. I just want mine to arrive, 4 cell or not. I'll deal with that when it gets here.

Any updates on the voltage of the 4-cell? I sure hope my order doesn't get f#@$ed. I ordered a 4 and 9 with my 8400M GS.

I agree... they probably ARE compatible, but DELL won't add them together with a graphics card cause of the battery life and such.

The 4 cell problem does not sound right... however I think the reviewers got to use only the 9 cell.

    Help me recall our excuses:

    1) LED display shortage
    2) Web cam shortage
    3) CPU shortages
    4) Bluetooth issues
    5) Aluminum palm rest shortage
    6) Chassis shortage
    7) Video card shortage
    8) 4 cell battery / Video card issues

    Did I miss anything?

Hope this is not true I ordered all of the above... may never see my m1330.

My favourite excuses for the delays were when they said there are shortages of the LED and shortages of the 2 megapixel camera. I don't know how it works in the US but in Canada, you can ONLY choose from one of those two. So, basically, they should have just said they weren't shipping ANYTHING. lol

    About the 4-cell battery issue....
On european dell sites (at least on german and austrian site) there was the information about 4-cell battery and 8400GS card incompatibility right from the start.
But i think it's all about low battery life with this combination, as Dell doesn't want to have people complaining about low battery life with M1330.

Hey Pieman314, I was looking at the specs you ordered, I've took exactly the same. I was a bit afraid of being the only one who didn't take the LED display and 2GHz CPU.

YEY! The 1.8 was cheap enough and didnt want to fork out any more for the extra 0.2ghz!

The led screen looked good, but its just a gadget for now. Im gonna be buying a one on ebay when the come out as spares or whatever, then fit it myself. I didnt get it purely to cost!

Plus, id make good use of the 2.0 camera, rather than the 0.3 one on the led screen (Whats all that about? - Should be the other way around!)

Nice to hear from someone with the same spec. When and where did yor order yours? and how much was it?

I'm unfortunately currently in Germany :( It was my main reason for having a Dell because I could ask for a US keyboard. I've ordered it the 9th of July and it is still in preproduction. However the guy promised me I'll receive it the 10th of August. Lets see.. The cost in germany was 1368euros. How about the UK price?

Ah, ive youve asked for a US keyboard, lets hope they dont ship it from the US then! Would take weeks to arrive!
Mine was £950 with a special £50 off promotion. thats about the same as you in euros isnt it?

Your delivery date is only a month, so thats not too bad i suppose, mines about a week more ,but nevermind, lets see what happens!

I mean, when i have enough money. Im sure theyll be a spare hanging around on eBay in a few months. Anyhow im not desperate for it, just cant afford it now at £180 extra ($360) on top of the £950 i already paid out. PLUS if i did choose it, i might have had yet another delay!
