That article (now a bit dated) states:
Dell has six factories around the world - in Limerick, Ireland; Xiamen, China; Eldorado do Sul, Brazil; Nashville, Tennessee; Austin, Texas; and Penang, Malaysia.

I think part of the reason for the location is to be inside the tax zones. e.g. to import a computer to China probably costs about 30% tax. To build it inside avoids that. So they put a factory inside each major trading block or market in a location where wages are fairly low.
I suspect that is a good part of why the Dell M1330 is cheaper here than the Sony SZ

The 1330 isn't cheaper than the SZ...when you put them with the same specs, the Sony, I believe, is cheaper.

Just checked my status again. Was EDD 25-Jul (yesterday).
    Changed at last - to:
"Estimate Delivery Date: To be advised. Please check this site at later time. For further enquiries please e-mail: [email protected]. "

I really hope this just means the system is down and it arrives tomorrow - my fear is that all WLED displays were allocated to the US and they cannot build it anymore.

I believe Crisis is a DX10 game so I would not expect any of the new DX10 features to run well. All the current gen graphics seem to have problems with DX10 stuff, as in they can not run everything at decent frame rates. Probably will not be able to the big stuff like 4xAnti Aliasing, and Filtering etc etc. But seeing as the screen res is only 1280x800 it might not be too bad.

But as you were told, only a few people have the computer, and noone has Crisis sooo noone knows for sure. You will have to wait for reviews.

They are not cheap earbuds. They are Creative earbuds that are meant to sound good. Also they are not Free we are paying for all this stuff, so we want to make sure we get what we pay for. If they did not include your Wireless card that costs $30 you would be pissed too? :p

Wait it isn't? (zips up again)

I did a detailed comparison of a high specced M1330 vs SZ4 series here in China. The Sony cost more even though I couldn't configure it to as high a spec.

I am in China... I am not aware of an automated system to call.
I'll give it a day and then try emailing them. The rep tends to SMS my wife from time to time but she should get to Lhasa by tomorrow night and after that I am not sure she will be in cellphone range.

Sorry to whoever asked me the question regarding if I got more discount other than $100 off, people were posting way too fast and I wanted to respond to all. Here's my answer to you hope you can see it.

I didn't get anything more than $100 discount and didn't really bother asking for more. The reason is because I've read a lot of posts here that people had to bargain and whine a lot before they got $100 off. One rep told one of the guys here that they normally give 50-75 dollars off. I don't know how accurate that is but seeing that i got $100 right off the bat on my first try, I just kept it at that and didn't ask for more. I tried to ask to see if they would boost my delivery to next day delivery but the rep didn't do it.

Be careful though, because a lot of the people get their orders cancelled and having problems seem to also have decent discounts on their systems. I think Dell might be more willing to dick around with your order if they are not making any money from you.

For me its the other way round, its my notebook she might use for university as well. But i have diverted delivery to my work adress, just to get a glimpse of it before it'll disappear on HER side of the desk for at least 6 months.

Well at least she might return my PDA then *sigh*

The earbuds that come witht he computer are amazing. I don't have the computer yet but, i purchased the earbuds at bestbuy on salebefore i even knew this laptop came with them. they are very clear, and way better tha i pid earbuuds because they are noise cancelling and very comfortable (soft silicone). Check them out they are "creative ep630".

I prefer noise reducing because canceling give me a headache. These just act like ear plugs. You have to be careful not to turn them up too high though, because they can more easily damage your ears.

This is EXACTLY why I started the thread at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=142471. This thread has gotten WAY out of control with useless posts and too much off topic chatter. There's no way I can keep up w/the 200+ posts/day to this thread. I am way too busy for that. It also makes it hard to actually find the few nuggets of useful info buried in here.
