    I have recieved mine, so far soo good, re-installing vista to remove all the bloatware.
    People that are waiting for a ring should try to call to arrange delivery. worked for me.

    Hey OGC, ordered on 28/08/09, shipped 02/09/09, recieved 08/09/09

    My EDD was originally 14/09/09, funny thing is that the tracking still isn't working :D

    hope you enjoy your lappy, i'm really loving the 1080p!!! btw what are your specs?

    Yay,Just noticed a packing slip appear on the order status page was abit confused as to what it was,Then i opened it and it just listed everything in the box,A quick refresh and it's now being "Your order is being prepared for shipment as of 05/09/2009"


    Odd thing is.My packing slip is addressed as the limerick dell factory?

    I'm rather impatient, and this being my first laptop, I'll be anxious all the time if the tracking doesn't work. :eek:

    for the price, its an excellent laptop.

    mines is a bit different

    Intel P8600
    500GB HD
    Blu-ray drive

    everything else is the same even the blackchain link, it is a dust magnet though :p
    About the tracking just ignore it, after the laptop has shipped give it 3-4 business and give walsh western a call 0844 444 5986 option 3, then 1, then 2 , to arrange a delivery. One thing i have noticed with dell orders its that you need a lot of patience. Any questions about your laptop just ask....

    Probs cause your in Ireland, its coming from Limerick with a local courier - Interlink

    You may get it tomorrow or Thursday ;)

    Walsh Western's tracking data is calculated with your Customer Number and Order number so it appears as soon as it ships.

    You tracking may not appear until the courier takes hold of your lappy and programs it into their system.

    Thanks for the info!

    I was gonna go for the red, but I saw some pics and it appeared a bit on the pinkish side to me. Besides, black being a classic colour, it might hold it's value for longer. I saw some close-up shots of the black one and its got a nice etched pattern which I also liked. :)

    I don't see myself using blu-ray a lot tho, but when I do get around using it, the blu-ray drive specs I'd get now will probably be obsolete. :eek: And since this laptop's for uni, I don't want to end up spending all my monies on pretty HD films. :p

    I'd love to get it, but I'm a bit short on cash and my uni loan hasn't come through yet, which is why I've gone for the bare essentials. I've read about some people on here installing it themselves so I most probably will end up fitting it myself later, too.


    Edit: My confirmation e-mail just came through, I got an EDD of 22nd! >.<

    My friend has a coloured red version imo its matte and its a boring finish, i definetly prefer the chainlink. black is the classic, i can only compare the cover to the ps3, its shiny and a dust magnet, but quality.

    lol you're going to uni aswell? haha which one, im off to hertfordshire on the 26th, when you starting?

    Hey Richard, you might want to shrink the size of that signature, it's supposed to be 4 lines if normal font size or 8 if small font size as per the forum rules. Better you hear it from me than a moderator. Can't believe all of that happened so quickly for you, In total it took the best part of 4 weeks for my last notebook, but it was originally estimated to take 5 weeks in total. You go for a fast track option or something?

    Thanks for the heads up,Have changed it now!

    I'm quite pleased with the speed of the order,But it seems the shipping will slow it down abit,I assumed as Dell Limerick were on my packing list it was assembled there,But i think i was wrong.After checking my status this morning it's still saying "Status of delivery: Your order is currently with the carrier and a detailed status on your delivery should be available shortly."

    So i rung dell and due to a bad phone line and the women on the other end talking seriously quick i couldn't hear on two occasions where it was coming from!But where ever it was it was on route :),After reading a few Irish forums it seems 2-5 days is usually when the machine should arrive,So there is a super slim chance it might be here friday,If not next Monday,Tuesday or wensday i'd assume

    Just got in and uupacked and using it now.

    Love it :) Exactly what I wanted!

    One thing, do I need to install QuickSet to be able to get Caps Lock alerts etc?

    Congrats! It's been a long road but now it is over.

    I installed Windows 7 RC and then had to go back and install QuickSet to get the volume, mute, and backlight alerts. I never checked if the Caps Lock was on there as well.

    Hmm I will look into that.

    One thing that I had to do was to change the options with the F Keys. The media first function is real irritating.

    It also gets pretty warm by the touch pad, but I can live with that...
