Shipping delay from 8/1 to 8/28!!!!!!

I'm experiencing the same issue! Ordered 7/12, delayed to 8/2, NOW delayed til 8/28!!! This is not making me happy...in fact, I'm rather peeved. When one has finally decided on a notebook, and literally pulled the trigger to order it, ONE WANTS ONE'S COMPUTER, BLAST IT!!! Why the delays!?!? Is it the nVidia chips?

Most of the time it is because of the lids and the screens.

 

Agreed. I talked to a really nice CSR too that promised to follow up with me and never did.

 

I got this delay but moved into boxing today. I really think the 8/28 date is just a placeholder. I think everyone who was delayed got that date. It probably means nothing except that your order didn't ship 8/1. You might get it in 3 days or in 2 weeks. It's just not the best information...

Yesterday I almost canceled my order over the 8/28 date...now I'm happy I waited. I'd suggest most people be patient and hopefully you will get the laptop within the next week.

The best part was - I called today to change my shipping address and the CSR who made the change mentioned to me again that my order was delayed. He goes, "You know your order is on backorder. Do you want to cancel?" I said, "Why would I want to cancel, my order is in boxing?" He just stuttered and was like, "Ohh yeah I know but I thought you might want to cancel anyway."

I love how Dell reps TRY to get you to cancel your orders. That's sound business. I'm glad I sold my Dell stock!

 

every person i've talked to on chat and on the phone is supposed to be "following up with me" - but i've yet to have someone actually do it. strangely on the chat today the guy said 8/28 but wouldn't say why - he directed me to the customer care line.

then i called epp support and talked to an american. she was mystified and said she could see no delay. phone status says my order is still in build but the date on the online status hasn't changed from 8/2.

who knows when i'm getting my lappy.

 

Heh, I sure hope you're right. But I remember hoping it would ship before 7/25 (my original date).

 

My ship date is today, but I just called and it's still in build stage so it's definitely not gonna ship today.

 

Share the same recent experience:
- initial estimated delivery of 7/25 changed to 8/1, and then 8/28
- real polite customer service who say everything is OK, and ask
wasn't I a big help?
- all promise to follow up with calls and email...but don't. Why do they
bother sending you a log of your chat session? So you know you
weren't imagining it when they re-assured you.
- one customer service person assured me my order was in the final
"Kitting" stage, only to be rescheduled the next day
- billing and shipping addresses go to "N/A" on the web site.

BTW, root cause of delay for my 1721 Flamingo Pink was finally
admitted: colored case was back-ordered.
OK - give me another color!!! Sorry, that now comes out to the same
estimated date.

 

Ordered my Jet Black 1520 at 10 am EST. Still haven't gotten past acknowledged. Sigh.

That's what I've decided to do. I have my heart set on that configuration, man.

 

It's just a blanket date, If you build any new 1520 (except black) the date is 8/28. Hopefully those of us who ordered what seems like forever ago will get them before then.

 

It turns out my Dell CSR did end up following up on my order. She called asking for Mr. (My mom's name). That was a big WTF moment. But, she told my dad (I handed the phone to him because I was laughing) that my order will be at my house on 8/14, and there is no delay. So, the (now) infamous 8/28 delay doesn't affect me! Let's hope I can get it very soon!

 

I ordered today with an estimated ship date of 8/21/2007.

I ordered Jet Black and the WSXGA+ so hopefully I don't have to worry about delays. *Crosses fingers for a 48 hour build*

 

Well, I called up and complained again. They took another $200 off my price, because Ive waited since July 7th. (one of the longer waits, I guess)

So now my total is $1177 for my configuration below. That makes $816 in discounts so far. But still no laptop.

i ordered one on june 28th
and got it delivered.. but it was too big
so i returned it. got a full refund. and then the hell began.
I ordered it on july 13th..ship date 8/1... called july 26th to complain about waiting n they said that they would expedite my shipping and priority first laptop and that my laptop was currently in production.
I CALLED today at 11 am and the guy was like thats weird, your laptop hasnt started to be put in production yet. I told him that i called a week earlier n the lady said it was and it would be fine but yeah she lied. This guy was like im gonna expedite your shipping and priority first and i was like the first lady already said she would n she didnt, and what exactly does this solve. I ordered it on july 13th.. your just lessening the problem, i want the problem fixed, so he asked for my number and told me he would give his case manager my number to call me and we could work it out. damn im pissed

 

Wow you must of got a super nice rep. Now Im really going to push for my sister to call back and try to get compensation. Im sure ordering july 9th counts for a long wait with three delays. And are you the one of the people that was able to stack the discounts together since you have over 800 dollars off with the 200 dollar discount?

Yeah. I updated my sig to reflect the coupons and discounts I used. At this rate, Dell is going to end up giving me a $500 laptop sometime around Valentines Day 2008

 

Cancel and re-order as black.

 

They discounted black another $30 today. (they lowered the base price for a 1520 from $849 to $819, but now charge $50 for the colors... same thing... Colors are the same price, but Black is $30 cheaper than it was yesterday - $50 less than the colors)

 

with the new pricing (and the same setup as my 1520) the notebook is now about 150 more.

Does Dell EVER answer email. I have emailed them 3 times concerning my order and I get this reply:

Hey Dell, it's been longer then 6 freaking hours and I have still not received an email from ya!! Jeez

 

just go into an online chat. emails take forever.

 

Just call or chat. All my discounts have come from chat, from indian reps.

 

I just got through talking to an online Dell rep. She told me that there is a delay in shipping out LCD screens. I ordered the High resolution glossy widescreen(1440x900). She also told me that my 1520 would ship out on or before 8/10 which is my original ship date. Dare I get excited that it will ship out before 8/10???

 

I was told that so many times that i don't believe it even one bit. I was assured that it would ship 7/25 and it didn't, then i was assured by 2 CSR that it would ship on 8/1, and it didn't

 

but I find it weird that most of us (recently) had reps tell us that there was no delay because of lcds. I guess they were all lying.

 

I think its ****ing retarded for dell to offer 1440 x 900 display LCDS to 1520 customers when you should be getting the 16XX x XXXX display instead. because of opening too many options Dell is backordered ridiculously

 

Some of your situations seem pretty bad. I ordered mine from Dell Canada last night so I guess I shouldn't be too worried that it's still in "Order Processing". It's estimated to ship on the 20th of August.

Now, generally, the fall semester starts around September 1st. Personally, I start on the 30th of August. I hope all of you get your notebooks before school starts. It seems like Dell is trying to make that happen. I see your shipping dates have been delayed incredibly far, but not as far as into September. Has anyone's shipment been delayed until sometime in September? I don't care when I get my notebook, so long as I get it before I start school.

 

1440 x 900 is the ideal resolution for 15.4 inch laptops. Anything higher will make you squint.

 

I like to squint. And it's not like I'll run it in that resolution, its just the idea that I COULD run it that makes me happy.

 

With August just starting, a Sept delay is not popping up...yet

 

We gotta keep hoping that it never will!

 

if you config now, some configs will get you a sept 3rd (as of yesterday i think?) or sept 4th ESD.

 

I guess im the same as everyone else here. i ordered the 1520 on the 19th of Jul was told ship date would be 2 july. I talked a an dell rep for the Army Airforce exchange and he told me that dell screwed up and didn't order enought of the different colored LCD backs and that is what is holding everyones shipments up. I called dell and they told the TRUTH and said that was the hold up and my system (green) is to be shipped on the 4th of Sep I was told that if I canx my order and ordered a black or brown one. I would get it much faster because they had those in stock. the dell rep for aafes he almost went home in tears yesterday for all the pissed of callers that wanted there 1520's. I did feel bad for him but, at least he told me the truth about what happend. he also said that the dell tracking website crashed yesterday because of all the traffic AKA us looking for our lIN production for weeks computers.

 

My friend Dell 1520 got delayed till 8/28 today. He got realy piss since he ordered it almost a month ago. He canceled it and order a Asus G1S, the spec are very similar(Except the size/weight is less) and he said it would be coming Monday.

I also got screwed by lenovo. My T61 got delayed from today (8/3) to 9/5. I'm just going to have to cancel it because I need a laptop for college.

I'm so happy finally word on my RED m1330 hopefully i'll get it on monday or sometime next week. *Fingers Crossed*
