I wouldn't put too much trust into that statement; I am sure we are getting the last old crappy Samsung screens. I doubt they would order new 1680x1050 screens from LG just for us. I bet I will get the crappiest display because they delayed my order to scour their warehouses for the last few defective Samsung screens.

ok...
That's more likely...
But less good
-
BZZZTTT!!!
So much for that theory. I was able to get my service tag and looked up the specs. I'm definitely getting a Samsung display.
After reading Forte's post on the main forum, I'm prepared to be disappointed in this machine. -
Aww poor Fountainhead.
-
Did you ask via Dell Chat?
And, what models are Samsung? LG? -
My online invoice has the service tag. I looked it up and it lists all the components of the system. The display is shown as X167G LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WSXGA+, TLF, SAMSUNG..., V2.
This sucks. -
Ahh, ok. Hrrrm. That does suck.
Maybe it'll be a good one. -
Kinda unfair, assuming 90% of samsungs laptops were fine. Its not going to be a monochrome screen. If its bad its replaceable.
-
Oh well...
You'll have to tell us if it's bad or not when you get it... -
Yeah. But I'm not looking foward to weeks of fighting with non-english speaking reps trying to get something resolved. Maybe I'll get lucky and the display won't suck (fat chance). They'll get one chance to make it right before I move on. Some of these guys may have the patience to fight for weeks through multiple swaps. I don't.

I like being able to call and yell at people. I like them not being Americans. A little creepy maybe.
-
I really hate talking to outsorced (read: India-based) support. It's impossible. It's not like talking to someone who you feel like you can explain a situation and have them respond based on what you're saying. It's like talking to a bot. They don't understand what you're trying to tell them half the time, let alone possess the ability to communicate back.
I'm sorry, but it just blows. -
Yeah, but you do get to yell.. :-D
So I ordered my XPS M1530 on Monday...
