Really? Me too! I bought Crysis just for the laptop. Crysis doesn't run very well on my computer that I am typing on because it has an old (meaning 2003) ATi Radeon X300SE. I can't wait!

I bought Assasins Creed as my game of choice when I get my M1530. I don't get why Crysis is such a great game aside from the physics.

 

I don't know either. I just got hooked into the game playing it at 5 fps on my computer...lol. It was fun killing all those North Koreans. It was actually kinda' fun.

 

I considered Assassin's Creed but idk...
I got Neverwinter Nights 2 (not the most impressive game I know)...

I was also going to buy CoD4 but I forgot my ID at home and the stupid bestbuy guy said he couldn't sell it to me... :/

I was thinking about CoD4, but I found Assasins Creed being sold on Amazon for 19.99 so it was a no brainer for me. Though I wonder how good it will actually look. I don't want to play it with low graphics quality.

Can anyone give me more information on there experiences with the Boxing Stage? My ESD isnt until 6/5 But I went into boxing yesterday!

 

i only got the inspiron 1525 in alpine white with integrated webcam here you people have more **** on your things and probably even getting yours before mine WHY IS MINE TAKING LONG!! it better be here by this week no joke!

 

I just ordered my XPS M1530 with the T9300, 320GB HD, 256mb 8600GT, with the 1440x900(no 1680x1050 in the UK).
PLaced the order yesterday afternoon and just received a phone call
saying it will be here on Thursday. Hopefully the laptop will be as good as everybody says it is.

 

I ordered mine on 5/19, ESD 6/4 (overnight 6/5 shipping) requested because its
the day before I'm going on a trip.

How come Luc ordered his one day after me, and his item is in the boxing stage and mine is still in the build stage?

Wonder if I should call CSR?

 

I talked to Two managers, one very helpful one named Chad.

A Sales Person named Alvin tried selling me on cancleing my order and ordering a 9 cell battery saying my ESD would be sooner. I stuck out for 5 hours to get ahold of his manager and report his lieing (my esd would of been pushed back to the 11th of june)

He took "personal ownership" to make sure my laptop as ordered would come out soon.

Also, an "expedited order" simply means 1 day shipping, it has nothing to do with production.

 

So I guess they bumped you up early b/c you complained. Any suggestions for me.

I really need this by the EDA at the latest. I will have no choice but to cancel if its not in the boxing stage by early next week and go buy another laptop because I need it for an important business trip.

 

Best I can say is start getting on the phone.

I can't really bring myself to complain though...
I mean...my esd is reasonable and it's still a week away...

Although I will be calling about my case for the laptop...it's esd is the 18th...no idea why....

Well, I just "rebuilt" my system on dell's website and they updated it so that it lists the 1680x1050 being up to a 7 day delay and the 6 cell battery being up to a 3 day delay...

I just hope mine gets done soon....

 

Right now I could either receive my laptop Friday, or Monday. Has anyone every got hung up in boxing for a long period of time? Is boxing the end of the light of the tunnel? Or am I not out of the muck of it yet.

 

Well...I just emailed the guy who I bought my compy from (I ordered over the phone). He was really helpful when I was ordering and I don't really want to bother dell just yet so I basically asked if either of those features I mentioned would delay my order...

 

Boxing takes 2 - 4 days.

They won't tell you anything more that you can get from the order status page. They'll tell you that your ESD is 6/5, and that your order will ship on or before that date. And that's it.

I've never heard of anyone being told that their order would be delayed...until it's actually delayed. Until then, your ESD is gospel.

I was just one dells website and it looks like you can't get the 1680x1050 screen on the xps any more.
I hope that doesn't effect my order....

 

I regret getting the 1680x1050 and not the LED. Oh well. I am sure the 1680x1050 will be good.

My guess is the quality problems with the Samsung. Everyone tried to return the Samsungs, and they probably can't get enough LG's. So they're dumping it.

Of course, that means that those of us dumb enough to order the 1680x1050 in the last 3 weeks will get stuck with the last of the Samsung displays, and no option to get a different one.

Heck, how would I know? I do think the 1680x1050 disappeared because of all the problems with the Samsung displays, everyone demanding replacements, etc. Whether that means we're doomed to get one of those final crappy displays or one of the final good ones...well, I guess we'll all find out together.

And some Samsungs are great. Not all are junk.

And its not just the 1680x1050 that are junk. The 1440x900 non-LED have a ton of junk ones, too.

 

I sent the guy who handled my sale an email asking (since calling was no use).
I doubt he'll have any info but it was worth a shot...

My optimistic though for the day:

I dunno. If you look at that long thread about the grainy screens, you'll see that guys were still getting Samsungs in the last couple of weeks. Some LG's too, but it doesn't look to me as if Dell has ceased sending out notebooks with Samsungs. It's the luck of the draw, I imagine.

As Mattocs mentioned, if we get stuck with lousy displays we might lobby for LED 1440x900 replacements. I doubt that's easy to pull off, but it seems like someone on this board got a system swap like that recently.
