I'm just wondering how those of you who've gotten post-order compensation *before* Dell has informed you of a delay have done it. I actually chatted myself a $15 credit simply based on the fact that the notebook had 8/16 estimated delivery day in the building screens, which jumped to 8/21 when I put it in the cart. Dell, for once not unreasonably, pointed out that if my initial order confirmation email said "8/21" and the system still said 8/21, there was no delay, but I still got a small credit out of them. Looks like some people have done even more under flimsier pretenses, and I'd love to hear how.

From what I read in the Rep faqs/threads, when you get more rep, you'll give others more rep points 'per rep'. And I guess other than that perhaps some people feel that you can trust recommendations/advice from those with more rep? Or perhaps it's just that they've been here forever, lol.

well you all ain't lucky enough for me to leave I got my 1520, and it's here to stay. I am quite happy with it, in fact I am even parting out my desktop because I feel no need for it. After dumping a few hundred into it this year that says a lot. I am keeping my new HDD and getting a external enclosure for it though, but other then that the rest is hitting ebay/craigslist depending on weight and resaleability of the particular item locally. Meaning my 21" CRT is sure as hell not gonna get shipped because it's way to heavy to ship.

But like it or not, i'm not going anywhere. I am just silent many times, but I am still here.

So any graphics option causes a delay. I suppose you could order your notebook without a screen- that would certainly expedite things. Otherwise, you're Delled if you do and Delled if you don't!

Actually I have rather enjoyed these forums. Once I receive my laptop I will stick around as long as the other forums (other than the Dell Delay forums) are as much fun. My job gets boring some days and I need to pass time lol!

 

Buckeye...is someone there to sign for your package? DHL called this morning to tell me someone had to sign for my package....I would hate for you to get home and have a "delivery attempt failed" note stuck to your door. I just called DHL and asked them to call me with an ETA so I can make sure Mr. Delivery Man doesn't come when I have to pick up the kiddo's from school.

 

i will probably stay till the whole delay calms down and people can actually start getting them with in a week.that will probably be when school starts and everyone has the laptop they need, and wont buy from dell.after sept 4, lies the good times.....

 

Someone's home...but the package won't go out for delivery to me until tomorrow. I asked about picking it up at the DHL location it's currently at, but that apparently is a dedicated DHL airport which no one is allowed access to. Tomorrow it will be in Sharonville, where I can have it held until I get home, or can let it go out, and try to get off work once I get the "package out for delivery" status .
