The only company at fault is Dell, they sold you an item, they didn't deliver it to you.
Shipping company, not your problem its dell. The guy who recieved it and if he did, not your problem. Thats the shipping companys isue.
Going after a guy, I would waiste my time and you never know 100% that he recieved it and how he could react or what elese could follow.
same time I wonder how would we react if door rings and "would you like a laptop" I'm sure we would all say no thanks :>

Opening someone elses mail (packages, bills, etc.) is illegal in Canada and a serious offense with criminal charges. But I'd would definately file a police report and have it on record for later use.

If all else fails I'd seek legal advice. On CBC Radio 1 (in Ontario, at least) usually around 12pm on a certain weekday (I forget which day) there is a call-in radio show to seek legal advice and information about Canadian law, your rights, small claims court, etc. I would do this as soon as possible because you don't want Dell or Purolator to push your case to the side. Or have you heard of the show on CBC's TV show "Underdogs" where Wendy Mesley takes on big corporate companies who have ripped off customers. I'd look into that because they could help you take on a corporate company.

Two problems on that one: First, he's Canadian ... you sure Canada follows that law? Secondly, the law only applies to items ADDRESSED TO YOU; if you're "Joe Dirt", and you sign "John Doe" to obtain a package addressed to "John Doe" (even at Joe Dirt's address), you have committed fraud. Please, let's not be so free and easy with the "legal" advice!

I know exactly what that show is... that's a great idea, thank you. I'll for sure do that. I was to stop that guy, he's done it to me, I'm sure he did it with other people as well.

    thank you

As for Mister A-Hole... Vigilante justice isn't recommended... Unless you can pull it off without getting caught :)

Let's not forget that this bunghole has your packing slip, which means he has your name and address, and also knows you'll be getting a new laptop shortly (thanks to him). I hope Perculator hasn't put you in danger of being burglarized!

If you need law advices, just post your question(s) there: http://www.lawguru.com/cgi/bbs/user/submit.cgi

I had a similar problem with Canada Post a while ago. Was much luckier, though. I just went to the guy's address and he gladly gave me back my package.

DAMN what a f**ker i'd have gone postal (excuse the pun) at that guy who took it.

I can't see that the law is on his side here though..he stole it.. just becuase they offered it to him for the simple fee of his (your) signiture he his legally obliged to tell them he is not you surely.

You courier can prove exactly where it was delivered.. they have a signiture from the address they delivered it to..

Well since you brought up that issue, the laptop was never recovered. I guess he got away with it.
Anyways my New EDD is set for Spet 27, I ordered the laptop on July 10th. Does that make me the longest waiting customer? I'm thinking of contacting the Guinness World Records for that matter :)

Just his car. Try to figure out how much damage would equal the cost of your laptop...

    Then double it :D

It's not how the world works, but...""Vengeance is mine," says the Lord, "I will repay.""

He'll get his; count on it.
