Spring Green Waiting Room

Is anyone out there still waiting on a Spring Green? Have they even moved out of the Build stage?

I was wondering because my order sure hasn't. I keep thinking any day now....

I'm still in build stage. Just got a message this morning telling me that i'm delayed to 8/30

 

In boxing, Dell called me to tell me that it would ship this Friday. Ordered 7/4.

I'm still in the Build stage and starting to really hate that lady that tells me that she has "important information for me to write down".

I keep calling, I keep hearing the stupid automated lady say "build", and I just want to throw my phone across the room.

Sometimes it feels like my order is in a perpetual hold.

1720 Spring green here. Still in build since 7/20. Purgatory.

 

mine is still stuck in build.

 

Also stuck in build. Seems like they're getting to orders that are near my order date, though. So I have a bit of hope. Not much, but a bit.

 

Well perhaps there is hope since every once in a while it seems like a Green will go into a boxing or shipping phase.

 

I know I am hating her too. I have gotten to the point where I want to yell back at her. And every time I hear build I too want to throw the phone. They need to change the voice to someone who is not so happy

I hope for her sake, the lady that did the voice work doesn't meet anyone that has had so much trouble with Dell. The sound of her voice could make someone snap.

btw, what is so hard to understand about the status of my order that i would need a pen and paper to write it down? does dell see us as retarded idiots that can't use a calendar?

 

Not that you can't post wherever you want, but why are you updating the "spring green waiting room" on the status of your not very green laptop?

Congrats on your quick turn around. I guess there's something to be said for going over to the dark side.

I'm not suggesting it is. I was just saying that the thread was intended to discuss how long it's taking green laptops to ship, not as a place for general shipping times.

Congrats anyway. Consider yourself lucky to be getting such a quick turnaround time.

Ok, strange sequence of events. Basically, I called the automated order number knowing that my laptop was still going to be in the build stage. Anyhow, while waiting, I basically ignore the woman knowing what she's going to say and hum a song while I am multitasking at work. Somehow I get sent to a Tech Rep for Small Biz who is in AMERICA!

Rather than transfer me, he decides to help me out and actually answer my questions. When he looks up my order he basically laughs out loud when he sees I have ordered the 1720 Spring Green and he tells me it has no chance of making the 8/28 date because of the color, por supuesto. Also, as the common refrain in this saga goes, the only ones shipping out in a timely fashion are the Alpine White and Jet Black. After friendly questioning and informative answers, he tells me that a realistic time for someone with my order date, system, and color choice is mid-September, no earlier, and to expect the same for people with similar color choices because the light colors are being completed slowly.

So there you have it. If you are waiting on a Spring Green 1720 and ordered at about 7/20 or later, expect to wait until at least mid-September.

Somehow I knew that to be true. One of the CSR's I talked to mumbled something about 9/16 but then told me about the 08/28 date. Well I guess I will get it in time for my bday 9/22.

 

Well the good news is that I just checked the Dell site and my Green 1520 has shipped. With next day shipping I'll either get it tomorrow or Monday depending on when it gets to DHL. There is hope, do not despair!

my travel remote [which was just ordered yesterday] has already shipped.... hahah great... without a laptop to use it on.. whats the point xD oh well... it was nice to hear "your order has shipped!" =)

Did you get your remote free because of your delays, or did ya just get it free?

 

I am still in Build stage. I really think this is hopeless. I guess I will be bumped to a new shipping date soon. I cannot see how it is going to make it by Tuesday.

 

My green 1520 is still in production.. ordered July 8th and now they're claiming it should be shipped by Sept 1st. I'm not sure I believe it. Canada, by the way

Well, I ordered my Spring Green 1420 on 7/13 and it was originally set to ship on 7/26 and then delayed to 8/2 and then again to 8/28. I haven't checked for a while - the thrill has kind of worn off and I lost my job in the meantime. I decided to check today and it has been shipped. Wow! I am supposed to be upgraded to Next day air, so I could actually have it tomorrow.

 

As of this morning I am still in Build stage. I am really beginning to see that the Spring Green's are not going to be going out with the mass exodus of 8/28. I wish they would give us updates.

I think I am going to ask for a Belkin Messenger bag if I get another delay.

 

Those are delayed, too. I ordered one a day or two after my 1720 and the ship date for that is 10/2.

 

We cannot catch a break.

 

For the fun of it I just went and rebuilt my machine to the same specs. It was over 400 dollars more and the ESD was 9/25. It says that the delay is due to the colors still. Brilliant.

 

I finally made it to the boxing stage. I am in shock. I was waiting for the lady to say build. She finally said boxing. Guess I will have to see how long my boxing stage is.

I don't know why the 15" seem to be taking so much longer to ship than the 14"...

Yeah, looks like the Greens are shipping. My cousin's Green Inspiron 1500 went into testing/boxing last night, so they are definitely making progress. Now, if my Latitude would move.

She ordered July 15th.

Just to let you guys know, my laptop has finally reached the boxing stage Finally. I was expecting the lady to say the build stage. Good luck to all those who are still waiting.

I keep checking the order status on the website but nothing changed since 08/07...

Is it better to call to get updates or they tell you the same thing than on the website? It just says "In Production", it doesn't tell you which stage it's at..

 

Yes I would call the automated number 1-800-433-9014 it will tell you that you are in production and are in X stage.

 

Doesn't work for Canada...

 

The 8/28 date now slipped to 9/5. My daughter will be waiting another week at college without a computer.

 

I know a compensation won't change the fact that she is missing her laptop but, I am also waiting for my computer for college and won't get it 'till the 3rd week... I called Dell explaining my situation and they gave me a 5% discount (55$)...

 

Looks like I will be getting my machine today. I will update everyone if it was worth the wait.

I've been delayed again to everyone's new favorite date - 09/05.

 

Just got it. It is nice. The green looks a bit blotchy like it was spay painted but it is really nice. It feels rubbery which I did not expect. It is working well so far. I will keep you posted and maybe post some picts.

 

I just talked with a Dell CSR and he said my order is being delayed because of my LCD screen.

 

I got another figgin delay to 9/5 too.
Lets see first it was 8/1, then 8/6, then 8/28, now 9/5.....WTF!!!!
Guy on live chat "I assure you it will ship tomorrow with no further delays"

I had to call or email them to consent to continueing with my order or they woul cancel....Some FCC BS
