Thanks .... they already offered me that upon shipment. I called back in to see if I could get more information from a person, but got none. However, I found out that the free upgrade to 1 day shipping had dropped off when I agreed to the new ship date. The person I spoke to added it back on. If you have had to agree to a new ship date and have been offered free 1 day shipping, you may want to call in and verify you still have 1 day shipping.

Called Dell to complain about the change in my ship date to 9/05. First was told I could talk to the manager to escalate my order - said I had already tried that 3 times with no effect. Then was offered to be connected to the order modification line - said I had talked to them too and their only option was to cancel my order and start a new one. I then asked if I could be compensated for the huge delay and was able to get a promise of $150 credit that will be applied when I receive the laptop.

Hopefully I might actually make the 9/05 date since I ordered on 7/17 and it sounds like people who ordered a day or two ahead of me are getting theirs shipped. I am keeping my fingers, toes and all extremities crossed.

 

So, I haven't gotten any phone calls about my order being delayed again and it's 6:30 p.m. right now. Is that a good thing? I'm afraid to check my order status, with my luck it's been canceled and that's why I haven't gotten any calls.

 

My original order date was 7/13
1st ESD - 8/1
2nd ESD - 8/28
3rd ESD - 9/5 (I think this is the new 8/28!)
4th ESD - 9/10 Can't believe I got delayed again on the same day!!

8/27 still shows "In Production" (whatever that means)
Spoke with CSR today and they claim it is shipping tomorrow . . . I'm not real hopeful. But, if they delay me again there is going to be some serious compensation demanded!! This was supposed to be for a 7/24 birthday present for my daughter. Looks like a Christmas present now

In the morning of 8/28 I got the delay date of 9/5 ... imagine my surprise when I checked again in the afternoon and now my ESD is 9/10! What is going on??? The funny thing is just an hour ago I got the call from a CSR telling me about the 9/5 ESD date!! Talk about lack of information!

Don't hold your breath ... another anti-glare buyer here ... and I've been told that is holding us up more than the color. I ordered on 7/13 and just today got 2 additional delays to my ESD. I am currently set at 9/10. Good luck!

 

Ghaaaaa!!!! I called dell to complain about the 9/05 ship date and he said that my order should ship before that date. A few hours go by, I decide to check the order status site and now it says 9/10!!! WTF!

 

I'm sick of Dell and their lies. I really have a hard time believing the #2 computer manufacturer in the world can't get their laptops out the door. I'm the same as you guys, e-mail this morning. "It's gonna ship 9/5" Another e-mail in the afternoon "Now it's gonna ship 9/10"

The only thing keeping me from canceling is what I got for the price compared to everyone else. I could get the same or better system from Compal, but Dell has a better warranty. I could get a really good warranty with HP, but I can't get as good of a system.

Same here - twice in one day.

I got a second email this evening telling me that my system was delayed to 09/05, so I called Dell again to make sure that they don't cancel my order. The CSR told me that they accidentally sent everyone (even new orders) a date of 09/05 and my actual date is now 09/10.

This morning, it was the LCD screen delaying my order. Tonight, I was told that the color and webcam had been delaying it and they have those parts in stock now. Somehow, it's still going to take 13 days to build it.

 

Do you smell what I smell? Cause I smell an overpowering stench of bull****.

 

Delayed twice the same day!!

I got two different status in the same phone call yesterday... I think 09/10 is the new ship date for everyone.

And I think that the Dell commercial is only to torture people like us who are waiting.

 

WOW, twice in one day. DELL must like really pissing their customers off. Maybe I can get a second $75 rebate now. I had a hard time just getting that one and I was nice to the lady.

 

you guys are so lucky, now here isnt a delay for spring green 1720 and 1420, the 1520 has a 5 day delay.wish mine would come soon, its scheduled to build sept 3

 

That "scheduled building date" is making me furious! Is your status saying "In Production" too?

Checked status this morning 5:50am EDT - still showing 09/05. Read through these posts and checked again at 06:30am EDT now it say 09/10.

My mom ordered this laptop for my daughter as a graduation/college present. When she ordered in July we didn't expect my daughter to be starting college without a laptop. My mom went on a month long cruise mid-August to mid-September. If I don't have the laptop on my doorstep by the day she returns I will be canceling. This is the worst experience I have ever had with any company.

 

Called Dell today due to 2 delay notices! Asked about another color and told that if I changed color (to speed up shipment and delivery) it would change my order date to today! So, I would go to the BACK OF THE LINE and they could not tell me even an expected ship date if I changed color to black or white.

Poor CS as Dell should put customers with earlier orders for color Inspirons at the head of the shipping list, not at the bottom. CS person had no response to this....

Not going to change color because order date changes, and with all the delay ship problems, Dell probably will soon (if not already) have ship delays on the black and white ones also.

BTW - CS person said they are having problems with the supplier for the screens! So not just a color problem.

still waiting for it... man... my new ESD is on the day i move away for college! this stinks...

 

After a supervisor from the CSR told me that one of my option was to cancel my order, that's what I did...

I QUIT!

 

So, I finally broke and checked out my order status online. Seems I've been delayed again as everyone else. Though, I never got a call yesterday about another delay, maybe my delay call is delayed. I have to question why I have three different ESD when I check that status online. 9-5 on the main order status page, 9-10 when I click one of my items, and 7-30 on the Associated Orders at the bottom of the page.

Mine is displaying 'ship from factory' after I ordered it yesterday... I don't know if the process is different for overseas orders, but it looks like it should be on it's way soon! I'm wondering why you are all still waiting for yours to be built if mine is already done though

I just called the order status line and started to zone out as the lady told me she had information for me to write down, waiting to hear Build stage again. I could hardly believe my ears - my laptop is in the Testing stage!

I called right back just to hear something other than Build stage. Yippeee! On to boxing! Seems like that's taking a few days for most folks, right?

 

I finally entered testing this morning myself. I was half-awake and just felt like checking to hear my semi-daily "build" message and I got testing instead. Still there a couple of hours later, but at least it's not stuck in build hell anymore!

Boxing, shipping here I come!

I had a bit of a scare, though. I called the order status number earlier and they didn't have a status for my order. The CSR told me the same line about being delayed to 09/10. He told me that my color was holding things up and that he could switch me to a different color if I wanted. Hmmmm - thought that wasn't possible without a reorder....

I'm sooo glad I told him I'd wait for green!

Well this is just great... Mines STILL in building while everyone else is moving to boxing even though their dates after mine, I hate dell... But atleast everyone else is getting theirs.

 

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I ordered mine 7/21. At least some people around our date are starting to get them. I've been so close to canceling (mostly because of the customer service) but I really want the computer I ordered and my desktop hasn't completely stopped running yet.

 

Woo! My estimated delivery date has now changed to the 6th!
I feel pretty guilty about this though given that I only ordered on the 29th, but I guess that being in Australia and having to pay us $1300 for a system that only has a 1.66 duo core processor means that I deserve some extra! sigh.
Hope yours all arrive soon too.

 

I agreed several times to new ship dates...and they gave me overnight shipping...free....but i told them i wanted it....call them back...and don't be nice....let em have it....they'll agree to it.

 

Why haven't I got a new ESD, it's still 9/3/07 yet it's still in build and if it's delayed I want to know the new ESD dammit...so frustrating...

 

Sweet, mines in boxing now, so Im finally gonna get my laptop just 3 weeks into college. Which is pretty good, because im really tired of using this crappy compaq lol.

 

They never tell you the new ESD until you hit your current ESD... until then every customer service person you talk with will tell you that it should ship on your ESD.

It's hugely frustrating - I called the day before one of my estimated ship dates, when my system was still in build status, and the rep told me that it should be shipping on my ship date.

Mine is finally in boxing, so I should receive it next week... hopefully it will be a great laptop but the buying experience was really unpleasant and has soured the whole Dell experience for me.

 

It's really good to hear that someone that ordered a 1521 after me is getting their laptop finally. I wonder if it's the anti glare screen holding mine up or the processor perhaps? It's a real shame that Dell gives you so little information about your order, they know what the issues are and what parts they are missing. It's very frustrating not knowing what the problem is with getting my particualr unit out when several others that ordered after me are getting theirs. I'm glad someone started this post. I was beginning to think that people with the green laptops were not getting their computers at all.

 

Got mine yesterday, the DHL guy signed for my package and left it in front of my door!!! WTF!
