Would they even ship it on this day???

So I talked to dell today found out my computer was pushed back AGAIN...the reason the Midnight blue color and they have LCD screens on BACKORDER!! So now I'm a part of this lovely group!!

I ordered my daughter a pink 1420 on 7/8/07 and our third ESD is now 8/28/07. She will already have left for college if it ships then. We have decided if it gets delayed again, we are going to go out and buy the pink Sony Vaio CR laptop. We're tired of waiting!

I am in this club too. The computer is ordered for my daughter who leaves for school on August 25. I really don't think we will have her computer before she leaves. I doubt it will ship on the 28th either. Luckily we are only a few hours away, so when the computer finally arrives here it a short drive to deliver it to my daughter. I was hoping she would have time to get used to the new computer before she left, but instead she gets to explain to her professors that Dell screwed her over and she is doing all her assignments in the computer lab. All of her classes have additional software that is supposed to be used by the students to complete homework. What a royal pain not to have your own computer.

 

I think im getting another delay. Suppost to ship on Monday. But I seriously doubt it.

Yea well.... effective yesterday (my original ship date the 17th) I have been pushed back to the 28th!!!!!! This sucks. I really can't cancel my order cuz I got my laptop so cheap. $1156.37 and I know I can't find another laptop like this one for this price. I'm just gonna stick it out and hope dell gets their sh$* together.

 

Yeah same here. My final price is 1183. I cant find anything close for less than 1800 at this point.

 

Hmmmm.... I found something guys on the Satus website. Im in Produktion right now. But its strange because it has the 24 of July date. It was the same date when it was in the Building stage. I dont if its a mistake or it really means that they are working on my laptop.

 

OH MAN - after I missed my ship date of 8/17 I figured it would be easy to just let 8/28 come... I wouldn't think about it, I wouldn't dwell on it, cuz we all know the 8/28 might very well be a BS ship date.

then I realized that if an order is shipping 8/28 it should go into testing any day now.

and now I'm back to calling the stupid order status line far too often!

Just out of curiousity, have any fellow Canadians received a proactive update with their estimated ship/delivery date? When I check the status page online it still shows me an estimated delivery date of August 10th...which is obviously well behind us now. I called Customer Care twice, and was given two very different answers. One said to expect it September 25th, and the other told me that there was a 20 day lead time on the red cover....meaning that it would most likely be built this Weds. So basically just wondering if any Canucks have been e-mailed or had their status page updated with a delivery date.

My Big Shipping Day is suppost to be tomorrow!!! Still in Build stage!! 26 Days in build stage! Im glad that Dell is building my computer because if it takes 25+ days for a pro to make one, man that would take me like 4 months!@

Im not holding my breath.....if I do....it might be for another 3 weeks.

 

The build stage doesn't mean anything. My 1521 was in this stage from 1 weeks ago but the estimated shipping date is 8/28.

 

I just got an email that my laptop shipped today (the 19th, and its a blue 1420)!

I might actually get it in time for the school to start!

 

hahaha notice eveyrbody in this *club* has a colour that isnt black or white =) colour = delay!!! DIE DIE DIE gahahha!! i delayed mine because i cancelled 3 times because of price adjustment =) and its estimated to 27/8 =D

I ordered my Dell Inspiron 1521 Spring Green on 7/14 happily anticipating a great machine to come my way. I was made aware as I picked the better LCD that my order would be delayed by 3-5 days. I was fine with that. But when my 08/13 shipping date came and a mysterious new link showed up saying Why is my order delayed? After reading the forum the link connects you to I quickly called Dell. I was told that my machine should ship by 08/28. I was given free updated shipping.

Now I am trying to figure out how they are going to meet all these 08/28 orders. I have emailed my CSR's manager to see if he will have an explanation. Still no answer. It is frustrating because my husband ordered a Mac Pro 2 weeks ago and he is picking his up from Fed Ex tonight.

Guess we will see. If I do not see a change in my status soon I will have to provide the Shiner Bock.

i'm getting some mixed news here......... when i call the automated # i get "build stage" bs...... when i go to the site i get "in production" but i just got a telephone call 5min ago from dell saying my laptop will ship tomorrow...... and w/ NBD i'll have it by the 22nd........ what should i take of that?

 

When did you order your machine? I have checked a couple times today and I am still in build status and ordered mine on 7/14. I have seen newer orders being filled before the older orders and to me that makes no sense....

Well get this. Last monday, the automated phone service said boxing and I was like "YES!!". However, by friday, it still had not shipped, so I spoke with a CSR asking when it'd ship, since it had been in boxing so long. So he checked on my order and said that it was actually still in build and the phone service was wrong. I was pissed, and sure enough, the next day, the phone service said build. Now, however, it's back to boxing. I hope to hell it's for real this time but I'm still slightly skeptical.

 

well it's supposed to ship out today sometime..... although it's only 2:25am..... and i just called and it's still in build. so if they build it early today, test and box it in the afternoon i should have it. unless they lied

 

The delays definitely are not exclusively tied to the color lids. I ordered a plain1405 on 7/31 and just got bumped to the 8/28 ESD as well.

 

Still another week of waiting (I know, I'm an optimist). I've heard writing haiku is supposed to help relieve stress. Here's mine:

Spring Green 1520 is in boxing today for my ESD 8/28 ship date.

I'm starting to think that the 8/28 Est. ship date will also pass...

...I just received a phone call from a Dell customer case rep. telling me that my 1720 midnight blue has now been dealyed 12 days for the colored lid. When I asked if this meant the est. ship date of 8/28 would be changed...he claimed he could not answer that question at this time and would get back to me.

Has anyone else with an 8/28 date received a call like this.

btw, janmik, how did you inform dell that you wish to keep your order after your second delay?

 

Dell never asked me if I wanted to keep the order, just kept advising me that thay are doing everything to complete the order. After many complaints they finally claim that they will refund me $100 for my troubles after I receive the laptop.

Well, I guess I am a member of this club as well. I am only taking one class this semester, but it starts on 8/29. I got them to give me a free upgrade in shipping, so it should be there by the time I go to class (assuming it actually ships on 8/28.)

I called once to get the upgrade in shipping, and I called again today to let them know I give consent for any further delays, as I don't want them to cancel my order (I may decide to cancel it, but that's MY decision, not their decision). The Indian guy I spoke with today was very nice, and more importantly, I could understand him (the accent wasn't too strong). He informed me that the holdup with my order was by color (blue), and my screen (glossy 1440x900). He told me he would keep track of this case personally, and call me with any future information.

If I get a call on 8/28, informing me of another delay, my only real choice will be to cancel the order, and buy a laptop in a store. I really don't want to do this, as you can't customize your order when buying out of a store. I really like the laptop I have on order, but I really need this for my class (take can't write fast enough to take decent notes).


If I don't get this laptop soon, I have a feeling my anger will consume me, and I will look like this!!!



I can just imagine walking into a computer store like that, and the salesmen walks up and says "You must have ordered a Dell."

I broke down and registered today because i now have joined the 8/28 club

I don't expect to get it 8/28 either, maybe i will have it by mid September.
