YES....finally heard something other than " build stage" .....its in the "boxing stage" didnt hear anything about "testing stage". My heart almost skipped a beat and when i heard boxing stage ....reconfirmed twice with the phone lady... Hopefully it gets to me before the weekend.

 

I wish I would hear those wonderful words. Build stage as of a few seconds ago.

Mine is still in build, but called today and i already got free next day shipping and now a $50.00 credit BUT 8 DAYS AFTER MY ORDER IS SUPPOSE TO SHIP! who knows if that will actually happen!1
I'm nervous the 28th isn't that far away....will i get my computer. I talked to someone at dell who said that since i have next day shipping when my they get my blues i should get my order pretty fast......yea right

actually i just called and checked my order and i'm in the BOXING STAGE!!!!

 

Yup, I'm part of this club too, although hopefully I'll be kicked out soon! I ordered a Blue 1521 on July 18th with the orginal ESD of Aug 6th. Yup, chatted online cause nothing had changed on the 6th and they said I had a new ship date of the 28th. Big surprise huh?

I chatted again today and they said it was almost done and should ship in 24-48 hours and gave me $50 off after it ships. I also just called and it says boxing too. So now I'm getting hopeful of getting it soon. Although if I don't, I will then be VERY angry!

Fiiiiiiinnaallyy, some laptops ordered in mid-July are starting to be boxed. I got the feeling that I'm only days out because once the parts shortages are resolved, these things start to take care of themselves.

 

I just got off the phone with Ruma in the Care Resolution Dept and she assured me that Dell was doing everything it could to get the systems out ASAP and that hopefully there would be no more delays. Just more Dell BS! She didn't even bother suggesting that there was even a possibilty of my order shipping out before 8/28.

I see another delay in the works.

 

Just got off the phone with a CSR and he has told me that he will personally be following the status of my machine. As I could tell he was reading from a script. Then I asked for further compensation and he changed his tone of voice. It was kind of funny. I managed to get a 25 dollar coupon. I guess I should have went for 50

I was told that my machine was in the final stages of being built and I will get my machine on 29th since I have been upgraded to next day shipping. I will be really surprised if that is true.

 

Ya, that is what the guy told me right before my original ship date when he assured me that it would be shipped that day. The whole script thing is really getting on my nerves. You can tell when it is something they are "supposed" to say. I don't know how many times I've been told that they "understand my frustration." Good for them,but it doesn't seem to be getting me a computer.

But I'm starting to get hopeful seeing quite a few other people are also in the boxing stage. Hopefully we will all start getting computers soon!

I was told on August 6 that my order was in the "Final stages of production".
Don't believe everything you hear from a Dell csr.

 

That is funny I was told the same exact thing today.... I knew it was bologna.

 

My birthday came and went last weekend without my b-day gift from my husband: my lappy. I find I'm more excited about 08/28 now.

gmlawrence - I hope you get your laptop two days before I get mine since you ordered two days earlier. (Read: I wish you got yours two days ago.) I suppose hoping that things were right with the world and people get their laptops in the order they placed their order is pretty naive, tho.

Does anyone know if changing an order now will delay it even more? I ordered the Intel Graphics Accelerator and now I'm sort-of wishing I had ordered one of the discreet graphics cards. I'm still on the fence, tho - wondering if an extra $100 or $200 is worth it if I'm not a gamer.

well, new update FINALLY! just woke up at like 3:45pm....... can't help it, i'm a party night owl, so i called the automated number, and i was expecting to hear "build" and then smush another soap voodoo doll of a dell CSR *lol jk* when i heard kitting. so does that mean my lappy will now go to build and then test and then boxing pretty quickly??

 

Can I join?

My husband ordered me a laptop on 7/30 for my birthday. Needless to say, I didn't get it on my birthday, 8/16. I had an original ESD of 8/21 but when he called yesterday, they told him 8/28. He did get the overnight shipping, but big deal, I would just be happy to know that it shipped. This is the first laptop I've gotten from Dell, though I have had a couple of desktops. I've never had any problem before. And after reading everyone's posts I'm a little discouraged and I seriously doubt that it will be shipped next week. Plus, this was put on a Dell Credit card and they've already charged it and now they're collecting interest on a product I haven't even gotten yet. Is that even legal?

 

I'm another member of the 8/28 Club. My order is still in production.

 

Its not worth it if you are not a gamer. Even at idle (screen ON but no gaming or movie running) its going to eat more battery than the integrated intel one. Of course, you spend >100$ too.

 

Has anyone here spoken to a Dell rep who is NOT in India? If so, what number did you call?

 

Its draw of luck. But the best way to get a non-Indian CSR would be to call around 5-6pm PST time. I think that would be the time when the night (or rather morning for them) shifts change in India, and calls may be routing to US folks temporarily. Just a guess!

 

I just got off a chat with a person from India that typed a wonderful script as usual. Man I hate that. I am sorry for the inconvenience.....

Then they tell me it is the LCD's again. First its the color now it is the LCD's I think the script just switches back and forth. Oh and I asked how is it possible if my LCD is backordered and my machine is supposed to ship next Tuesday? No answer. Just we are doing everything possible to get the machine to you by the ship date. Script again.

Oh and this is the best part.

So how is it earlier she states she does not have the authorization but then proceeds to say she will give me another coupon for 50.00 Crazy I tell ya.

 

Yeah, it's the luck of the draw. I called twice in two days, both times around 11:45am Pacific Daylight Time. First day I got an American, second day I got an Indian. Both were polite, and I was able to understand the Indian. I didn't find anything wrong with his job performance (and this is coming from somebody who was laid off from a previous job due to Indian outsourcing, and who is still bitter).

 

I just got delayed to 8/29 today, can I still join?

 

OK. I have finally registered with this forum after reading for a couple of weeks. I am in the same boat as everyone else. I am not holding my breath that my laptop will ship by the 28th. Its still in build and from what I've read it stays in boxing for 3-4 days when it finally gets there. This will be my first laptop and I do remember a time when I was really excited about getting it. Now, my patience has worn thin and my fingers hurt from dialing that stupid update line just to hear the word build over and over again.
Sorry for the rant. I know everyone else is waiting too.

 

Thanks so much for the advice! I hadn't thought about battery life. I'll stick with the integrated video card.

I'm not feeling too confident with our 8/28 date. I just checked the dell site and if you were to order a colored screen now, the est. ship date is 9/27..ouch.

 

I've been waiting for my brown 1520 since July 24 and confidence in the delayed 8/28 ship date has waned. On 8/21 I spent two full hours on the line with Dell convincing them that they COULD place a subsequent order for a black Dell just like mine and give me the same price. I didn't want to cancel my existing order because I'm not really sure that this order will get here any faster as I was initially being given a 9/3 ship date for the new order. To give the Dell person credit, he honestly tried to help me. The problem, he said, was that without a cancelled order# to put on his request, he could not give me an expired offer price and there were no current offers for as good of a price and the max amount he could adjust to meet the previous price was $150. Finally he found a way to get me the same laptop but with two minor changes (1) the new order had a N order where my original order was just for the B/G card (no complaints there!) (2) I ordered the Dell Complete Care and he couldn't put it on as a package with the special he was using. He was able to include the same 3 year warranty, antivirus, lojack, accidental protection, a 1 yr 10gb backup svc -- the only difference was it would not include the Dell Automated Tune-Up software which is only included with the Complete Care package. OK--I think I can live with that. But once configured, the estimated ship date was showing 9/14...

Just called the Status Line and it shows my black order is in Boxing!!!! I was so excited I said YES I WANT TO HEAR MORE ABOUT THIS STAGE!!!! It tells me all about what boxing means then is ends with "Based on the current stage of your order, we estimate it will ship on 9/14". WTF??????

No, it is not legal. You can not be charged until the order has been shipped. Call and start complaining. I would be really upset if I had to deal with this.

 

I just got a call from Dell (Maurice in India). He said he was just updating me on my laptop. All he could really tell me was that my color was delaying my production stage. I already knew that! But, at least someone called.

 

Moved into college today and found out my computer is now in kitting.=D

 

If Sony wasn't having a problem with the battery not fitting into its laptop properly, I would cancel the Dell and order a Vaio CR190.

I think you'll be happier with the 1520 than with the 1521 you had previously ordered. Of course, I'm biased. My husband works for Intel.

does anyone know how long the "Boxing" stage takes?? I ordered mine on 7/23 and it is finally in the "Boxing" stage, however it has been there for at least 3 days

From what ive seen. Between 1-5 days. You just gave me a heart attack. A ruby red boxing, that was ordered only 2 days before mine was!!!! I hope its my turn soon.
