Mine is due to be shipped tomorrow (original date was 8/21), yet I'm still in the build stage. Called Dell and the rep assured me it will ship tomorrow, though, and he promised to call tomorrow to let me know what the status is. Yep--we'll see what happens.
As of right now, planning on calling tomorrow and asking for some sort of compensation when it doesn't ship and gets delayed again.

I'm waiting in queue for Dell's lame ass live chat. I dont knw why even bother. I chatted with a rep on friday morning asking about the back order status of the bezels. She said she'd email the manufacturing dept and get back as son as she hears back....well, its Monday mornin and I han't heard squat. Just another empty promise from Dell again.

I have finally moved to boxing but that has not changed since Saturday so I chatted with a CSR this morning to see if it will make the 8/28 deadline. They said it would. We will see. There is hope for everyone

and i have the magic date of 8/28 .... ( at least for today and tomorrow)
I have never had this problem with dell before. is this going to hit 2 months +
i started school on 8/20 .... so i had to rent a laptop while i wait

it's 8/27 and still in build, I don't have very high hopes, but this is seriously effed up because I ordered in July and need this dumb laptop by september for college. -
Why does Dell market a Back to School Special if they can't even deliver. I ordered through the University website and my 1720 is still in production with no updates. It would of made sense for them to flag those orders as priority since they were having a sale geared towards it. 1 week till college starts and I am still waiting on a 2month old laptop that is probably sitting in the corner waiting to be shipped!

Well my laptop finally arrived today. Two days before my first class was supposed to start.
Funny enough, the class I was going to be taking this semester (Cisco Networking 4) has been canceled due to lack of enrollment. It now seems I won't need the laptop until NEXT semester!
Go figure! -
Well I just called the automated service number today and my laptop is in the kitting stage. Is there hope that it will come by the weekend?

The boxing stage usually takes about 4 days or so. It may be possible you get it by Friday, although I think Monday is more likely (this is assuming you have Next Business Day shipping). -
They just swore to me that my notebook will ship tomorrow.. HA! Not getting my hopes up.

Just got off the phone with customer (dis) service
was my first time calling just been waiting patiently
the person i got was an Indian lady that apologized
for the whole experience like 20 times and the whole conversation
sounded like she was reading it off a piece of paper
she could not give me any information as usual honestly it was like she didnt
know how to speak English and was winging it . she seemed
as confused as the customer. sounded pretty noisy in the background like
1,000 of calls coming in and everyone running around , or they had to
setup make shift offices like 3 foot cubes in a big room and just crammed 10,000 people that would take money to sit and read scripts all day.
basicly all they do is beat around the bush about it .
im not happy i dont have a laptop
oh i noticed today if you build a vostro laptop you can buy Gold level support
..... to actually talk to someone from the US .......
why does this have to cost more .....
Oh other laptop makers nows a good time to start a sell of premade ready to go units

I do feel bad for the CSR reps. It's not their fault things are being delayed yet they have to give 1,000 apologies every day when they're given obviously very little info. I have been sure to be extra kind and appreciative when i call or chat and each time they have thanked me for being nice....which makes it easier to get them to go out of their way to help out.

speaking good English got to understand the person your talking to
keeping your word ( if you say your gona call / email back you do it )
communication ( always keep things in the open- call / email , your order might be delayed ... up front ) -
The Indians I have spoken with (about 3-4 of them now) were easy enough to understand. The accent was not too heavy. This is the only thing that is harder to control. Their policies (calling you back, etc) should be the same no matter what country they are in.
I haven't had any problems with "Dell" Indians. -
I have absolutely no empathy for the CSR's after the 4th person told me they would take ownership of my order and keep me updated. I have not heard one single thing from any of them....NOTHIN!

Then you have every right to be angry. I don't blame the fact that they are Indian though. I lost a job to a bunch of Indians that couldn't do the job we could (it was a joke how bad they were). However, I blamed my boss who flew over to train them. They can follow instructions just fine. If properly trained, they will do well.
