I'm still hoping for tomorrow. FedEx has reported it leaving TN for the last couple days and late today it was received in Maryland. I live in Virginia so we shall see. It still shows delivery as tomorrow.

*fingers still crossed*....I bet you just can't wait!

Update: Just checked FedEx site again and it has left MD so there is light at the end of the tunnel. Yep, I'm looking forward to it. I must say though that the wait and reading through all the posts have been great!! I hope I am not the last one to get a mini......been pretty quiet around here lately. You guys are just GREAT!!

That light at that tunnel, is getting bright for you!

Well I got a call from Dell this past week. They informed me that my order placed on 12/3 for a Dell Mini 9 would not be fulfilled until sometime after 1/14. It seems that the parts for the "Cherry Red" color will not be received by Dell until 1/14 and therefore all orders with this configuration will be delayed until after that time. This is the SEVENTH time the estimated shipping date has changed by Dell.
Dell, what is going on? This is a horrible customer experience. -
I am really glad you are liking it so far. Be sure to post more comments, questions and such in the Mini 9 thread, in the Inspiron/Studio forum on the site!
Right at 3pm...so cool!
What I would suggest, is that you contact Dell Customer Care, and tell your rep how disappointed you are in the build process & delays on your I9..due to parts being on backorder. Advise you have been waiting for the I9. Ask them what they can do for you, so that you won't cancel your order.
I received $50 in compensation from Dell to spend on their site on accessories, or what not. What I wanted was my I9 to be delivered per the ESD, but that was out of my hands. So even the discount helped suffice me, as there was something I wanted to order.
7 times being delayed is not a good thing. You should be able to get more compensation or something from Dell for that.
Good luck, and keep us advised as to what is happening.

If, it doesnt work with one rep, try another. I got a Rep. who watched my order until it was shipped. And, I documented every e-mail, phone call etc.
Again, I'm sorry this has happened to you.I can say though, that waiting for the I9, was well worth it. It's a great Netbook.
However, if your that displeased with what is happening..you have not been charged for the order yet ~ you can always cancel and order the Lenovo! That is also a nice Netbook!
Cin -
Hopefully it works out for you. -
Exactly...I found that being persistent, yet polite and firm ~ with the Dell rep's can work for you. And, I've found it's how you *word* things with Customer Service Reps:
Not using: I'm going to cancel my order if you don't do something for me.
But something like: What is Dell going to do for me, to keep me a happy, buying customer, and keep me from looking elsewhere right now?
That's just my own opinion of course!
Cin -
I'm back home and I got my mini!!
-
Your gonna love it!
Cin -
-
...not so good on the latter
Let me know what they say..Good luck!
Cin -
UPDATE: I'll be getting a new Mini, it ships out the 14th. -
Glad your getting a new replacement (which you are entitled to BTW w/in 21 days of invoice, etc)
The 14th...next week..not so bad!

I was excited to order a mini on Wednesday night (1/7) . I ordered from the Outlet, a machine already built. I received the order confirmation with a estimated ship date of 1/12. I called the automated status number just now and it said they are working on fulfilling my order and now the ship date is 1/19 a full week later. Again, this is for a mini that is from the Outlet that is already built.
Does anyone have any insight as to the delay?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: It was shipped today. I called and was able to receive a tracking number from Outlet Sales (not updated on oreder page yet). Should arrive Monday. I'm off on Modays so this is perfect timing! -
The shipping date has changed "yet again". It is now expected to ship on 1/16 with a delivery date of 1/19. This is the EIGHTH time the estimated shipping date has changed. That is 47 days past the order date. Talk about absurd. The other thing to point out is that the starting price for the same configuration has dropped $85 since the time I ordered it. It was originally $713 and now is $628.
I am tired of the issue so I reported Dell to the FTC and the BBB. I also got my State Attorney General and credit card company involved. Both of them are going to mediate the issue at this point.
It is really unfortunate. I used to really like Dell and recommended them highly. No more though! -
My Dell order got delayed again today, TWICE! It now takes 58 days for a Dell order to be placed. What is worse is that Dell is very rude about it.
-
And, do you have any information regarding your reporting Dell to the FTC and the BBB? Last was that they were mediating the issue.
Cin -
I cancelled my order today. Ordered a Pink Mini 9 on Dec. 30, got the delayed notice on January 12th.
Dear Dell Customer,
We regret to inform you of a delay in your recent Dell order....
So we went out on the weekend and bought an ASUS EEE PC901.
The last time I tried to order from Dell was in the Fall 2007 when I wanted a Inspiron 1520...that one was delayed so many times that I bought a Sony Vaio and I am still very happy with it. I'm not sure if I'll ever order from Dell again. -
Dell should be concerned in every cancelled order, and question what they can do to stop these things from happening.
At least, you found something else!
Cin -
Yea I ordered my Dell mini 9 on December 7, 2008 in hopes of getting it for Christmas. Unfortunately, I have still been waiting for my mini to arrive. It has been delayed somewhere around (too many too count) seven times and most recently delayed until Feb. 3... For some reason I don't believe it will be at my doorstep until sometime in 2010. But, I hear good things so Ill just bend over and let Dell shove some more delays up my rear.
I already tried the compensation plea and have now moved on to threats of BBB and attorney general notification. I have yet to do either, but I guess I'm lazy; its probably mainly due to the fact I am no longer excited about the mini but I am not satisfied enough with other netbooks available on the market to cancel and buy another brand.
Btw, I ordered my mini on Dec. 7 with: Obsidian black cover/case, 1GB Ram, 16GB SSD, no camera, Bluetooth, and Windows XP.
So... What the 'H' Dell?!? -
Well guess what everyone I've already email the BBB, the Cosumerist and other forums about this issue, next it's going to the media. I've had two escalation department person looking into the matter and still haven't got my order. I order Dec.26th 2008 and was told I should receive it by Feb.16th since there was a issue with ummm.. Parts. Yeah right same issue I had when I orderd my Dell XPSm1530 took 3 months from July to Oct. Issue was LCD panels were on backorder, hmm...guess what the problem with my Dell Mini9 order, parts shortage? Well they said it had to do with LCD panels being short and that they are back ordered yeah right, while shipments get shipped to WalMart and Bestbuy, our orders aren't being shipped. For some reason they find it necessary to ask you if you want to cancel, are they stupid or something you would think a business would rather keep their orders and get them shipped as soon as possible not to loose their customers but they rather have you cancel your order, then ask you do you want to reorder.
For some reason their marketing strategy is becoming apparent, lure you with their ads and specials, make you order then delay your order to a point that you'd want to cancel and then reorder with the same specs but without the discount. The only way for them to get out of it is to delay your orders to a point that you'd say ok, lets try cancelling and reordering because from what it seems that the get shipped quicker.
Dell needs for all of us to get a petition going agaist them and maybe they'll get their act together.
Oh one more thing I was told my order should arrive by the 28 if not on the 30th. of this month, on or before. -
There is no 30th of February. Your story doesn't really sound credible, sorry.
-
It seems like LCD panels shouldn't take that long to get back in stock.
I bet if you were to cancel this order, and order a refurb' thru the Oulet, you would have it by the end of this week, or next Monday at the latest.
But the 28th is next week. Are you going to hold on that long, and see?
Wait...there is no 30t of February...

Cin, what I didn't mention to Dell that Chrysler Canada actually has a Corporate Employee purchase program with them, I wonder what would happen if I were to mention that I would actually make sure Chrysler Canada knows about their practices. I know they probably wouldn't care, the mistake I've made was I forgot to mention it was a corporate employee purchase, stupid of me. I should of learned my lesson when I ordered my Dell XPS m1530 in July of 2008 and took 3 months, mid Oct. when I got it.
I've already emailed them about going to the Media I'm sure the Fox 2 problem solvers would love to hear about this. Also the Feb.30th I knew was a BS remark on their indian CS, must have 30 days in Feb in India. I threw that in there just to get your attention to the BS that CS puts customers through. For someone that works at a Automotive Company that deals with orders on demand and on time deliver, Dell's order practices would have put them in the poor house long ago. Dell is lucky that they are one of the few Online Bulid and Order companies around and have large corporations do business with them to keep them afloat in this economy. Furthurmore I don't understand their practices of advertisment and then asking you to cancel your order after you've waited months for it. I just don't understand why I still keep waiting, maybe it's the S&M thing you get hurt and slapped in the face with false information but you keep coming back for more. -
Been reading the posts here with interest. I ordered a pair of mini 9's (1 GB RAM, 16 GB SSD, 0.3 webcams) on Feb 13 , with the original delivery scheduled on the 25th. I got a notice today (the 24th)stating that my original order had ben canceled and replaced with two new orders. It seems that placing both items in my online line shopping cart and submitting them "confused" the ordering system and the items had to be resubmitted seperately. I was assured that my order(s) would not lose their place in line but received a new delivery date of March 13th. Has anyone else had a similar experience and how long was the additional delay?
-
Trust me guys Dell is making all this up. My order from Dec. of 2008 has not left production and bought the whole thing with the least option for $405 canadian dollars, you figure that out in US. Anyways I still don't have my MINI9 and the delivery date have been pushed back from Jan15, to Feb.16 or what ever date, I talked and talked and wasted my time talking with every single sales person and escalation person with no resolve. The last one that I've talked to said that they will expedite the order, ok, so how come is still not being boxed. Also she said that all the parts are in and they are being shipped out, so where is mine. The other person that I've talked to now says the system is having technical issues, what mine only what the h*** can't they put other parts into it, what technical issues? Then she goes on to say we can't ship by this week and we'd have to cancel the order and place another one and it may take up to 15 days. WHAT THE H**** I'm sick and tired of all there excuses and this is missing and that, what ever, how come you can go to walmart pickon up, I guess they don't want you to use their credit system and spend a fortune on the interests, and I also think they think your stupid to reorder it with a higher price tag.... I'm sorry guys but I'm actually very angry right now about this... I've ordered 2GB memory for it and a 32GB SSD from runcore, what the h*** am I going to do with this if I cancel the order and bow out of this game.
One thing I can assume from all this fiasco is that Dell ships out systems to other customers that matches yours that way they can keep other people waiting, I know my system has been shipped to someone else because it's as basic as you can get. 1GB ram 8GB SSD, no webcam, no bluetooth and black.
Well after talking with them once again today, I just said to them I want this system so what else can I do but wait even torture myself for over 60 days that I've been waiting patiently for it and no matter how angry I get nothing will happen but wait.

Cin. -
Well looks like they've reordered and now it says production started Feb.27th., with a delivery date of March 18th. We'll shall see how this one goes I'm not going to bet anything on it since I'm so numb about this whole fiasco now that I don't give a rat's behind about it anymore. If it comes it comes not that I really need the darn thing I just thought it was kewl to get and play around with besides I'm might just end up getting it then when the Mini10 comes around then I guess another waiting game.
-
Well got the Mini9 March 10, just about 3 weeks after strange. I really don't understand how Dell works, but for some reason it works out like this. Order something and it takes 3 months after you order and it never arrives. They ask you if you want to cancell, then they reorder and then you receive it 3 weeks after. Not sure if this makes any sense to you guys but it surely doesn't to me.
