Yeah, i might have to get it re-routed to a friend.
I got in touch with a Dell rep and she told me that mine is in the boxing stage and that it would be shipped out either 17th or 18th and i have next day shipping.

 

That's cool! Mine is next day shipping also...be sure to keep me posted when you move out of the boxing stage! I, of course...will do the same

Well my mini didn't ship out today, so that means I wont have it before I leave, but I can still bring my M1530 along, so its not a big deal.

The Dell Rep I've been talking to has been extremely helpful and she has arranged that Fedex will hold on to the computer until I get back from vacation.

Well my red mini is on the way. It shipped out yesterday - no tracking info available from Dell website but I plunked in some reference numbers on FedEx site and found out it should be here Saturday. I was getting a little anxious when I realized those who ordered after me were receiving theirs already. Guess the line wasn't necessarily chronological after all. It's been a long wait and I ran into a mini Acer last weekend that almost made me want to cancel. I'm glad I stuck it out. Hope this little thing is worth it... It's too bad they didn't overnight the orders for everyone who waited approx a month for the darn things. At least I have everything else that I need for it waiting at home.

Here's my story:

I ordered a Cherry Red Mini 9 on December 5th, having no idea that Dell takes so long to put their computers together. When I saw a shipping date of 12/19, I was a bit pissed but I was OK with it. I didn't need it until Dec. 24th anyway. I've been checking back every day hoping that it would ship early, but nothing changed.

Today is Dec. 19th and it still says "In Production". I've called Dell many times and they assure me that it will ship on the 19th, but now I'm really worried that it will be delayed. This is supposed to be a Christmas gift and I really need it to ship today in order for it to reach before the 25th. For those that have had their Mini 9 ship recently, did it ship early in the morning or later in the day? Do you think there is still a chance that it will ship today for me?

Dealing with Dell has really been a nightmare. I just need this netbook to placate my girlfriend, but I will never ever order online from them again.

 

The only, truly, quick way to get a Dell is to order from the outlet. I wouldn't hold my breath on this thing arriving in time for Christmas.

If I was you, I'd cancel it and order a black or white one from the outlet. You can have that machine by Monday.

If the red is the sticking point, cancel the order and order a red Lenovo S10 from Newegg. It's a good machine with nice specs at a good price, and Newegg ships super quick. Here's a link:

One thing's for sure, though. If you need a machine by Christmas, waiting on this Dell you've already ordered will probably only be a disappointment.

Yes it is...BUT I don't know if FedEx is delivering..we are in a snow storm..and everything is starting to shut down.

Plus, he might not be able to get to my door, or my neighbors..as the Jackarses didn't shovel the sidewalks or the parking lot this morning when I left for work..I had to walk thru snow way above my knees

As far as I know..FedEx has that choice of refusing to deliver in conditions like this...Just my lovely luck today

Sounds like you're getting what we got over night and through the morning. We got slammed.

I'd be surprised if Fedex doesn't deliver it, though. They drive through just about anything.

Same here. The temp is supposed to drop like thirty degrees and we're supposed to get more snow, with forty mile an hour winds. So, we're looking at blizzard conditions all weekend.

Hope people are done Christmas shopping. I wouldn't want to have to go out in this.

 

Hi everyone, its sad this has to be my first post but... Im getting pretty upset here.

I ordered my XPS and dell mini 9 addon (for $99 or w/e the special was) on 11/24/2008. I got the XPS two weeks later. The mini has been delayed twice. The first time, on the day it was suppose to ship it was delayed till today the 19th.. I just logged in to see if it shipped and NOW it's delayed till 1/6/2009!!!!

So I called customer support and the guy said he can't do anything for me other than cancel my order.. thats BS... how should I approach this guys/gals? I see people getting 100+ dollars worth of compensation, what should I say?

Considering you're getting the thing for a hundred bucks, I'm not sure there's much you can expect. I'd guess the most you'll get out of it is a canceled order, and a hundred dollar refund.

Personally, I'd rather wait it out and end up with the hundred dollar Mini.

But, what do I know? As they say, "the squeaky wheel gets the grease". If you complain enough, they may throw anything at you just to get you off their back. I'd doubt you'll get it shipped any sooner, though.

 

It was $367.44 after upgrades, Warranty, and tax.. 99 was just the special promotion name..

If you want one quick, order one from the outlet. You'll probably get a better deal than your promotional one, and you can have it in your hand the next day.

Are all the laptops at the outlet store refurbished? And is there any guarantee that they will ship immediately? When I ordered from dell.com, there was no indication that the unit would be in production for 3 weeks.

I called them just now and they said that my order had been delayed from 12/19 to 12/23 and the estimated arrival date is now 12/30

It's not about getting another netbook. I looked at all sorts of netbooks, but her heart is set on the Dell mini.

My only options now are to cancel the order and order again from the outlet store or be honest with her and explain that the order is delayed. She'll understand.

 

I checked the outlet.. They all ship with XP (i want Ubuntu), and base at 349.00-379.00, so tax, shipping, and warranty would put it well over 400...

I'm wondering what the success rate is with getting compensated for waiting over a month?

When you apply that coupon it will knock 20% off, which is seventy dollars off the 349 dollar models, which are maxed out.

If you want Ubuntu, there's nothing stopping you from putting it on there when it arrives.

If all you want is some hush money, I'm sure you can complain enough to get it. If you want it quick, and cheaper than you're already spending, the outlet is the way to go.

If you want compensation, tell them that's what you want. Don't beat around the bush. If they don't know what you want, they will try to get away with as little as possible. Just remain respectful.

 

I think FedEx will come through. I also ordered a Macbook on December 13th and it arrived this morning through FedEx. I live in Chicago and we've had about 8 inches of snow and ice storms all night, but it didn't stop them.

 

There are machines on the refurb site that are labeled "Previously Ordered New". These machines are new, non-refurb, machines. From everything I've heard on the forums, the Outlet purchases ship quick.

If you're going to order one, use this coupon. It will get another 20% knocked off your price. Just do it quick, I don't know how long the code is good for.

Are the factory refurbs decent? Am i going to get a laptop with a half dead battery or is all that tested too?

 

I've heard nothing but good things about Dell's outlet computers. If you're worried about it, you can always pop for one of the "Previously Ordered New" machines, which are from canceled orders and haven't been touched by a customer's hand.

The refurbs are tested, though. People around here don't seem to have a problem buying them. Though, admittedly, I've only ever purchased a refurbed desktop. So, I can't speak for the quality of the refurbed laptops.

 

You were right.. They do come out a bit cheaper after the coupon... I can't seem to find one with bluetooth listed... out of the about 25 i clicked.. its hard to believe that many people went without the option.. or is it just not listed you think?

I did a little digging myself. It appears that Dell doesn't specify anything, in regards to Bluetooth.

I find it hard to believe that none of these have Bluetooth. So, it looks like Bluetooth is a bit of a crap shoot.

If you don't get lucky, and the one you order includes Bluetooth, you could always add the Bluetooth card later.

I really can't help you with this one. I'm not one to go for extended warranties.

 

With all these questions you have...it might be easier for you to create your own thread, with all your questions entailed and such You will get more answers, that way.

FedEx guy dropped mine off at work yesterday. Scary when they know where to hunt you down if you are not at home. I am getting used to the keyboard. Good thing I have tiny hands!! Don't think my hubby would like it too much. It isn't as fast as my 1520 but didn't expect it to be. Love it and worth waiting for. Glad I didn't cancel.

Yeah the keyboard takes a bit to get used to..but the more you use it, the easier it gets. I have small hands too..and now I'm just *owning* that keyboard!

It turns out that Fedex can only hold a package for 10 days and after the 10 days, they will send it back to the shipper, and I will still be gone. So the Dell rep has recommended that I cancel my order and re-order.

Got my Bluetooth mouse a week ago and received my portable cd/dvd drive Saturday sooooooooo...all I need now is the "Beef." My mini isn't due to ship until the
29th. Did anyone order the cd/dvd drive?

I got a call and email this morning that mine was delayed until January 8th *sigh*

I gave them permission to continue with the order because at this point, I don't care anymore. I've already gotten the person who this was for another gift for Christmas. I just want this to arrive and once it does, I never want to deal with this POS company ever again.

 

So I emailed the Rep and we're working on doing a re-order so she can upgrade me to a 32gb ssd . The original mini order would be canceled and a new one would be ordered and shipped out, but today I looked at the mini 9 status and it says it was delivered
No one is home at my house so I don't know what's going on and who has my mini!

Well, my mini is suppose to ship on Monday 12/29. Wonder if it will or if I will get the dear john email and have to wait a few more weeks.

 

Oh, I don't think you will. I think that the prob' that they had with the back order on the keyboard's has since been taken care of.

Hope your right although it says In Production. Of course this is what the site said about the mouse and portable drive and then I received email that they shipped. I am really hoping that the portable drive will work well with the mini. I need to load the Verizon software in order to use my air card.

Yep, I ordered it when I did my mini build. I love my air card. I have it connected at home to a router so I have wireless with all my computers but away from home I need to connect it to a usb on my laptop to get internet and use the Verizon Manager Program to connect. It's great. I get wireless internet anywhere I go.

 

Oh sweet..I have to order mine from Newegg or something. In fact, I have a $10 coupon code I need to use before 12/28 that they sent me.

So your really going to be *good to go* once you receive your I9! WOOT!
