fred2028,
It looks like we don't have any other status than "In production" and "Shipped" on Dell.ca...
Even my rep can't tell me more than "In production".
-
-
Here with Dell.com I only have "In Production" too. No other stage more detailed.
-
But you have the automated order status line in US. AFAIK, it gives more detailed status than the order status page.
-
-
I just called up Dell to verify that my order had been expedited; surprise, surprise, it wasn't, but supposedly now that's been taken care of and I'm supposed to receive a call from my rep tomorrow.
I was told, however, that there is a back order on the base again... just wanted to confirm what someone else mentioned earlier in this thread. Weeeee...
EDIT: It seems my order has already been updated.... now the EDD has moved up from 12/4 to 12/3! Better than nothing
EDIT2: The change to 12/3 was a result of being upgraded to Next Business Day shipping. -
lol -
10/21: $2,993

OMGGGGGGGGGGG What is wrong with them????????????????
My order got canceled again for thie fourth time ! I had the good wifi part ! I'm so upset right now !!! That's total BS !!!! I have no choice to cancel and go for an overpriced less powerful laptop now. This is just insane... I dont want to fight with these d**b reps anymore to get what I want. -
Well I just sent a rather lengthy email to [email protected], who knows if it will help.
Stated the problems that I've had since I placed my original order October 1st. I also stated possible resolutions to improve my customer experience and stated if nothing is done I will be reporting Dell to the better business bureau.
Most important was that the laptop is delivered before 11/24/2009 as I will be going on vacation for a week after that... My CURRENT EDD is 11/30/2009. Which, I shouldn't have to wait until anyway... This has been so ridiculous. -
I've just sent a big email to the reps I've talked to and their managers and Michael Dell. I don't want to deal with them anymore but I just wanted them to know that I'm usually very patient but they found the limit of my patience
-
i had to send two e-mails to michael dell. the first one i got a rep named Sabrina (i posted her info) who was UTTERLY USELESS and not helpful. she just apologized over and over and then stopped returning my e-mails. I reported her in my next e-mail to michael dell and got a rep who was helpful, knew about the problem, and got me taken care of (at least i think i am, we'll see if i end up with a laptop)
through all the issues I had dell refused any real compensation, so despite me placing a new order I'm going to file a greivence with the BBB stating that i received such poor service that it actually cost me money ($160 cell phone overage bill). I wasn't compensated for that even after emailing my phone logs showing the 8 hours i spent on the phone with them. So I'll be sending them a frowny face through the BBB. -
Blah, after all this hassle, they wouldn't even expedite my order. This is very unfair, we shouldn't need to wait more than 2 months to get this laptop. Besides, they wouldn't even offer any type of compensation.
I just really wanted the XPS backpack ¬¬, since I'm tired of messenger bags. -
If my order is in the boxing stage (has been since Monday) am I safe from getting my order canceled by Dell?
I'm holding my breath... :X -
-
Anyone with original orders from September who still haven't received their laptops besides me?
-
Do you really think that sent an email to Michael Dell work ??
I mean you really think that it is a correct email address, with him behind his computer, reading all your emails... come on :/ -
Well..Mine just changed from pre-production to in-production. Still states December 3rd delivery date. We shall see....
-
Has your original order been fixed with the correct wi-fi card? -
-
But by emailing [email protected] you are supposedly email a group of higher-end reps that should be better to deal with. And I've heard of some good results. Though there have also been cases of no results. But I'll take that risk through an email. I'd rather do that than waste my time on the phone and have overage fees on my cell phone bill. -
-
I am supposed to ship on the 18th (five days!) and I am not in the boxing stage yet, but I recall that some people never went through a boxing stage.
Ordered 10-28
EDD 11-19
New Wifi Card -
as far as e-mail goes, that is NOT really going to michael dell, but it does go to a "executive escalations team".
I had to send two. The first rep that contacted me wasn't any better then the other morons I spoke with. Then i sent another complaint to michael dell and got a rep that knew the issue, fixed my order, etc. -
One issue some may find is that because there's so many people in the same boat, and Dell is very much aware of this problem - everyone is already considered in "escalation" and everything sincerely is already being done by Dell to fulfill the orders. The differences we're seeing in build and delivery times might just be that some people have been assigned to different build teams, plants etc and there's nothing really to do but wait. The system itself doesn't really give the ability to the support people to see or change a lot of this stuff.
-
Other things to consider for those with systems remaining "in production" and similar processes, your systems may have very well already been started and if this was only related to a parts problem, then there might be a whole back log of systems going back to disassemble and replace and add parts. The process can only go so fast. This situation is very unfortunate.
-
My order that was placed on 10/4 was canceled this morning, but I am not seeing a replacement order. Has there been lags between canceling and new orders being place or do I need to get on the phone again with them?
-
I had my order cancelled last Friday (11-06) and I got the new order number the following Monday.
-
-
Order date: 09-28
Order Cancelled: 11-06
Current EDD: 12-01 -
-
my original order from 10-16 was updated then cancelled, and they forgot my bluetooth mouse on the new order. I called a couple times and places and finally today in order modifications i found a guy that said he was getting me the mouse free. But online it shows that the total for the new order he placed for only the mouse will cost 29.99 I guess we will see if that changes to free or what, I will not pay extra after waiting a month for something I ordered to begin with.
-
Hopefully you get yours before that. It seems that once people got through the cancellation processes, their laptops were shipping about a week and a few days later. Have you been calling in to the phone system to check the status of your order? Seeing any progress?
-
Hey Guys,
Been following this thread from start.
Im in the same lifeboat as everyone else.
Hey Mike S.,
I ordered on 10/5 (old part) and it canceled 2 days ago,
I called to see what was up... bad system configuration...ok now what?
well we have to reorder it...ECT...ECT.. I did say that going past 30 days was
not good for me and waiting longer worse and asked if i could be comped a 3 year warranty upgrade since they had to reorder anyway..i said if you can keep the same price, give me windows7 and a 3 year warranty i would be happy to reorder...was on hold for 2 or 3 mins... she came back with this offer.... 2 year complete care (accidental damage droping ect ect) upgrade blue-ray reader to burner and $100 less than my first order. You have to reorder anyway Mike S. might as well try to get comped for your wait.
my new D-day is dec 4 sucks but i really want this laptop. -
Well, I just re-ordered my SXPS 1645. A new special came up today where I get a WAY better deal.... better Hard drive, Blu-ray burner, larger Hard drive, and 1080p WLED, all for only $100 more than what I paid over a month ago.
Thing is I apparently can't cancel my existing order as it's already been "sent to manufacturing"... so I'll have to return it to Dell for a refund when I get it in the next week or two. The screwed up thing is the EDD is still Dec 7th (Originally order 10/19, original EDD of 11/13, revised EDD to 12/07) so you'd think I'd be able to cancel it.
Oh well, my new order has an EDD of 12/14, but my rep says I should get it beginning of December as my config has no backordered parts. Apparently, the RGBLED is CRAZY backorded at the moment, and he mentioned it would probably be the new year before getting my SXPS 1645 if I had configured it with the RGBLED instead of the 1080p WLED. -
-
ya mine said "Changed" too.
Call and get the ball rolling. -
What a ride.
Same stuff, sent emails to [email protected] got a SOP (single point of contact) from India. Couldn't do anything to help but apologize and state that there is no way to guarantee a ship date yadda, yadda ydadda. Sent another note the mike and hope to get some better representation.
Order cost $4500. They still have the funds. Wonder if they are making money on the spread, and, hmm, how reputable. Dell Madoff, much?

Waiting for a response from my second note to Dell. if this continues, and I cannot get a definitive date out of Dell, will spend a little more and get a gaming laptop from a more orgainzed and better supply handling company.
Frustrating, very frustrating. -
If the RGB screen is really backordered I'm going to go ape...
-
Well... Not much to add, just getting really frustrated. Haven't received an email or call back from Dell yet so I probably won't hear anything till next week, if at all.
My order today is still in the "boxing" stage. The system says this means the system is built and everything is being placed in the boxes to be shipped. Well, if Dell is working as much as they SHOULD be, that would mean my order should ship within the next day, regardless of if it is the weekend or not because they should still be able to get it to the carrier. I know our UPS store is open on the weekends, and they should have strong ties to all their major carriers with how much business they do.
I know I work hard to make my money, and when I'm spending it, I expect the people that are getting my money to work just as hard. This has been so incredibly frustrating. I expect no less than the best with how long this process has taken for all of us and how unhelpful Dell has been in resolving the issues at hand. The second there was any kind of issues with our orders Dell should have notified us, told us a TRUE ESTIMATE of the delay, and given us the option to cancel. Any GOOD company will do this. I know I have worked hard to make that happen at any company I've worked for as the customer (or end-user) does not accept any less.
The problem here is, no one is ACCOUNTABLE for what is going on. It doesn't impact them that this is a problem for us so they really don't care. -
Lovely. I called up today to verify that my order had been expedited (I was told to expect a call this afternoon that never materialized) and after speaking with the representative who assured me that I would be receiving confirmation of the high priority from her manager, I found out that my second order had been cancelled... and recreated again.. now with a December 9th EDD. I found out by checking the Order Status page; I haven't received any e-mail about this.
I'm nearly at the point of taking my ball and going home. -
Prime example of why Dell does not deserve our money.
-
"I'm nearly at the point of taking my ball and going home".
Good one!
At least you haven't lost all humor. Keep your chin up...
We'll all be in that owners lounge someday. -

My system shipped yesterday. My online order status went from Pending to In Production to Shipped (no Pre-production, Boxing, or anything like that). I spoke to my Dell rep the day before it shipped to see if it was still possible to make an upgrade and his system showed that it was on the dock waiting to be shipped, even though my online order status still showed In Production. I asked the rep where it will ship from and he told me either Tennessee or Texas, but my tracking information shows that it originated in Reno, NV. How many manufacturing facilities does Dell have? Parts supplies at different facilities might have something to do with why some people are getting their computers so much faster than others. -
Boxing will not show up on the online order status page. It falls under "In Production."
Congrats on having your laptop shipped. I ordered on 10/5 but it was cancelled/replaced on 11/3, so I don't know when I'll get it.
It seems like Dell gets back-ordered on every other part of the laptop. First it was core i7, then wi-fi, then the base, and now someone said the RGBLED is also. -
I ordered a day before sscotter did. I am glad yours shipped. My EDD is also a day before. My order is still in the building stage. Our orders are the same except, I ordered:
Intel CoreTM i7-820QM
8GB, DDR3, 1333MHz 2 Dimm
4X Slot Load Blu-ray Disc (BD) Burner (Writes to DVD/CD/BD
We both ordered the RGBLED, but your order actually says RGBLED and mine says: Premium FHD WLED Display. I know it is the same screen, but I wonder if that could delay the order or one of my other components. -
I just call the automated phone service at Dell. I always entered my order number and it has always said the "build stage". I entered my 13 digit customer ID for the first time and it said my order shipped Oct 29th; that is one day after I ordered my laptop. I have next day delivery, so it has to be an error. I tried to talk to someone, but I guess they are closed on the weekend. I wonder if this will cause some sort of glitch for my order. Weird.
Ordered: Oct 28th
EDD: Nov 19th -
If anyone here who finally got their XPS 1645- when you get it can you copy the C:\driver and C:\Dell folder to a ZIP or RAR and put it online somewhere? I freshly installed Windows 7 and deleted the recovery partition and am now without drivers for the Sound Blaster X-Fi MB. Only audio drivers on support.dell.com and the DVD are for the IDT/non X-Fi sound option. I have an FTP if you need a place to upload it to.
