I am not impressed yet. Number one most annoying thing is the VGA output. I can't believe that they are still putting those on there when virtually every modern monitor is using DVI, or modern TVs are using HDMI. I would like to see that get updated one of these days.
I am using a 1420 at the moment, and I think it is a good size compromise, though I would admit that sometimes it seems heavier than it should be.
The 12 inch inspiron will likely be large enough to compete with models an inch or two bigger, and frankly, the ATOM processor and minute flash drive would be two huge handicaps to me. Why take that feature hit when you can have a superior 13 inch book for just a little more?
Nope, if I get a netbook, it will be a 10 inch eee or the equivalent. If I am going to go tiny, I am getting one that's about as big as my wallet!
-
Do you think it'll be the sameas I9 which is fanless ?
-
I doubt it will be fanless since one may come with a Hard drive.

I410 is now avail...certainly not like the I910 mini...IMHO has fan&hard drive=not a netbook... -
-
Did mess up on the description though...its the 1410 not I410 -

Official Dell Docs for the Inspiron 1210 linked above...so far, not seeing any fan in this notebook unless I'm missing it... -
lets see what happens oct 6
nice find by the way somms
seems it was posted sept 29 -
Hmm 1210, I wonder if it can live up to my beloved XPS M1210 in terms of weight and size.
-
Weight is around 2.7lbs according to the manual
-
I cannot wait for this release...
color *red* pleasseeeeeeee
Cin -
Surprise it's still fanless.Still consider a umpc ? Likely to know what chipset it's using ? identical with I9 ?

Looks like a choice of 3-cell or 6-cell batteries with the 1210.
Also noticed in the manual that it uses a CCFL display. I'm not familiar with this technology. Anyone tell me how it differs? -
And, the longer it takes for the I9 to come out a *refresh* w/more color options...I look at other's
And, yes I do feel this is a bigger *netbook*..We will just have to wait and see!!!
What about you? Are you *feelin this one* ???

I wouldn't really need a netbook per say. The laptops I want are all so light in weight that it would be pointless to have a netbook. However if the Studio XPS came out and they offered to bundle a netbook in for 200 dollars I would definitely get the 16 inch Studio and a netbook. Otherwise I'd rather get a nice sub 4 lb notebook with a quick boot into linux and a 6 hour + batterylife. The E6500 was supposed to have that but doesn't so I'll probably lose the quick boot into linux but 6 hour + battery life at under 4 lbs is fine to me.
Actually the laptop I have right now is the 700m (a 12 inch Inspiron with similar specs). So all I would have to do really is upgrade the ram on this to 1 gig and get a new battery and I would have an I12! -
That's the great thing about personal choice...your mind changes whenever it want's LOL
A nice 10" would be really cool though!(that's just my own opinion) LOL

AFAIK, even the I910 Mini uses LED display as I see no inverter listed anywhere in the service manual: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins910/en/sm/display.htm#wp1109848 -
I guess some more reading is in store....Thanks for the info!
Cin -
R820G LCD,8.9WSVGA,LED,TLF,AUO
Looks like a quick way to see if the display is LED, there are 15 diff steps of brightness to the WLED's...got 15 levels on both the I910 & Studio17 with LED screens...CCFL LCD's have less levels of brightness usually @7... -
The addt'l is info you provided is helpful!

So is there going to be a release announcement soon?
-
Cin -
Arghh, waiting between this and the possible new macbooks.
-
Soon, though..I think it will be soon!I like to practice patience!
Cin -
It will be out soon enough otherwise we can look at news about other netbooks.
-
New avy? Cool..it's nice!
Cin -

May well be.
It's 06/10 TMT (Tesco Mean Time). I'm not particularly hopeful that these machines will appear this week, but we can hope. At least the web page hasn't been forgottten; someone has corrected the spelling mistake and the Z530 now runs Ubuntu instead of Ubunto! -
You mean they finally fixed it!!!! After how many weeks?? OH lulz...
Cin -
I guess we will know in a few hours. Otherwise its more of speculation and rumors.
-
Cin -
Still the same message on Tesco's website: "This product will not be available until week commencing 6th October. We apologise for any inconvenience."

Any news?
-
Ahh that's the way it is for now, I guess...
Cin -
They said it would be this week, not today. Maybe we'll see something this week? Hopefully so!
-
Cin -
Red to match your XPS cin?
-
Cin -
Another week? I might as well wait for the supposed new macbook.

now im looking for a netbook for school ^^ i bought my 15 inch laptop for gaming but i dont want to bring it to school... so i am looking for a netbook.
I cant chose between Asus 1000H, msi wind and dell inspiron 9 or 12 lol
main thing ill do are taking notes, web-browsing and i need at least 3-4 batterie life. -
Yep's, there are quite a few choices of netbooks out there now. For me, I'm gungho on the I9...but am also wanting to see the I12 when it's finally released. And, of course with more color choices!
Have you looked at the Lenovo S10, yet? I was also kind of perusing that! LOL. I basically want to do the same as you..but more web-browsing, e-mail, stuff like that!
Good luck!
Cin -
But Asus 1000H is the only one that gets to 3-4 hours on the standard battery.
