I was able to get 5.5-6 hours of battery life on my 1000H using WLAN, and screen brightness around 50%.

The Inspiron 1210 i have seen today was very thin en for my 'feeling' lighter than the inspiron 910. this one came with a 1.8 inch 80gb hdd(samsung) 1.3 megcam and vista home basic. I only have seen it for a moment, but it don,t looks like the 910 at all.

pcgek, where and when did you see one?

My guess is that Dell is holding off the release for a week week and upstaging whatever Apple rolls out with on the 14th.

With respect to the previous site with release dates Dell's actual release dates have been about a week behind. So we should see something about next week.

Hi, i think that the release in Holland wil take a while. The person who was the owner of the Inspiron 1210 (azerty keyboard)was a frenchmen, that was on a visit in Holland.

I asked him for a picture of the 1210, but he refused to let me make one .

I guess it will be 1.6GHz. I have not seen any netbooks with the 1.33GHz Atom yet.

But even the 1.6GHz Atom is weak. A four year old Intel Pentium M 1.6GHz is quite a lot faster. But the Atom is just enough for surfing the web and watching a movie. So it will do.

Too bad though that the harddrive is not 2.5". 1.8" drives are slow, expensive and have small capacity.

Thanks! And, I think that it will prob's have to do for capacity of the I12.

I agree, more HD would be very nice! But, we will see when it finally rolls out! :)

The Tesco page may be confused, but it's pretty accurate by Dell's standards :D

Dell did originally spec both 1.3 and 1.6 Silverthornes for the 'E Slim' as it was called. I really can't see much difference between the processors apart from clock speed, though the Diamondville N270 used in the Mini9 was originally touted as a cut down version of the Silverthorne.

I must've missed something. Didn't know abot the 1.8" drive. Seems a daft idea to me.

EDIT: Since the 1.8" is on the Dell spec sheet, I must have forgotten.... Or maybe I just can't believe anyone would make that choice!!

The 1.8" drive was confirmed by user pcgek as well, who has seen the 1210 in real life.

I agree it's a strange choice, but may result in a slimmer laptop.

Maybe Dell had a lot of old stock around.

I'm not too sure about that. D430 just got replaced by E4200. E4200 is only available with SSD.

And guess what harddrives did the D430 and D420 use? You got it... 1.8" drives, 40GB, 60GB and 80GB, 4200rpm. The same ones as in 1210.

But maybe it wasn't Dell who had the old stock, but Samsung.

Not sure yet. I12 sounds tempting but new Macbook for $799 sounds even better. I'm in no hurry :)

9 inch would definetly be too small for me. I had a 11" for a while, 12" is now my minimum.

Ahh yes..the Macbook! :) I'm still going with the I9 or the I12, waiting on the I12 to see the the final *product* I'm being a tad fussy in what I want out of either..And, I guess I don't mind waiting a bit longer :)

I'm sure they could fit a 2.5" drive into a slimline I12 if they wanted to. Dell made the I9 smaller than the other netbooks and SSD only. If they ever thought they were losing market share to netbook with HDDs, I doubt they'd get a 2.5" drive in it.... but a 1.8" drive may be do-able.

Maybe the idea is 1.8" drives for netbooks to differentiate them from 'regular' notebooks. As long as the cost is right 1.8" drives give enough storage for a netbook.... excet for the quad booters!
