If, I ever receive it!

I ordered one and then sent it back. But now I ordered another and
will play with it and see if I might want to keep it and sell my xps 1210. -
I miss mine daily. That was a great computer. -
When is your ESD on it??
If I were to even peruse the thought again, of getting the I12..the price has got to come down a bit! Even, at the EPP pricing its still too much!
Cin -
The Mini 12 with Ubuntu is up for 341 in the UK now. Not a bad price.
-
Cin -
and all the new ones are sooooooo purdy. -
Those 1210's are sweet
Cin -
Yah that's a great price .. I'll get it around the 30th...
Unless they ship earlier as it seems there sale is slow for them.
Or is it just me. -
but heavier.... -
IDK...I just like the one he had

I read this whole thing, all 42 pages of it, to try and get some insight as to whether my wife would be happy with the I12. I find that you guys have been talking about it for over 3 months but nobody even has one. But I understand- you wanted one, it sounded good, lots of anticipation, then when it becomes real it falls short in terms of OS. I had pretty much drawn the same conclusions myself.
My wife wants a very light portable for travel. I decided that the screens on the 9" and 10" netbooks, and probably the keyboards, were too small for her. Ironically now I have to spend at least twice what the I12 costs to get a "real" 12" notebook that may yet have a cpu with slower clock rate than the Atom in the I12. (But with more RAM!) -
If your looking for a netbook and want some opinions on all brands, you should go here:

On a side note: I had been torn bet. a I9 and a I12..and, I went with the I9..I'm thinking I will have made the right choice!
Good luck to you...!
Cin -
Boy if mine boots that slow.. no way
-
Cin -
Yah.. but this time I'm going to play with it for about a week.. first.
Then send it back if it's too slow for me.
I'm sensitive about that. -
oh and *streamlined* too!
I'm sure it will work for you!
Cin -
Boy I wish I could here from homies that actually have gotten this computer and kept it.
-
hear.. excuse me..
)
-
Soon..you should have yours right??
Cin -
yes it should be here the end of the month. My guess it will be on time,
as I"m not sure sales have been that great. -
Post pics when you get it
. I wonder just how thin it really is.

The Ubuntu and XP versions are now on Dell's site.
-
Thanks for the info!
Cin -
Mine shipped today.... it has Vista but I may put the little XP version on that comes with little red and snowball.
-
Congrats. Hope you like it.
I reckon that when a few more people have got them someone will find a way to make them boot faster; I remember that someone put a tweaked version of Vista on one of the Atom based netbooks and got it to boot faster than XP. -
Oh really.. faster than XP.. well then I'd keep Vista.. On the other hand
I have the mini.. shouldn't keep both.. but.... lol -
-
I wonder who did it and where I could find how to do it.....
Not that I would use it for anything else than a net computer, but slow just irritates me. -

That will be nice, along with the I9

Anyone want this for 600 free shipping to United States? I opened it up and put Ubuntu on it but the battery went down like an hour and a half to what was 3 hours in xp. Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I figure it might help anyone that wants a Mini 12.

From what I've seen it will be too slow and haven't heard many comments from people who keep theirs. -
Just pulled the trigger on the top-end default mini-12 configuration (1.6Ghz Atom, 6-cell battery, XP Home, 1GB RAM, 60GB disk), and am looking forward to submitting my review of it. With my EPP, I got it for a reasonable $606 (after tax and free next day shipping). I purchased an Asus Eee 1000H PC a few months ago, but returned it after its small display and cramped keyboard size (with significant keyboard flex) made it too impractical for daily use. I would have preferred the Lenovo X200 to the mini 12, if the X200 were not missing a touchpad. I am hoping the mini 12 is exactly what I'm looking for.

I have had a play with the Packard Bell BG45 now: http://www.packardbell.co.uk/produc...+BG45-U-300/productsheet-PC11E05501-1239.html I agree with Phil's comments; it seems nicely made (incredibly well made for a Packard Bell) but interestingly the keyboard is only fractionally bigger than the NC10. I thought the touchpad was even worseI don't know if it's available in the US, but it's an aweful(sic) lot of machine for the same price as an NC10.
There's also a new 12" Advent; doesn't look as nice, but looks practical. -
EPP works great..Did you use the Dell DPA for purchase at alll? By using that you save and addt'l 4%
What color did you get??
Cin -
After reading some more reviews, I found that it comes with a 91% size keyboard, which could be a deal-breaker. I hope not. It seems absurd that they used a 10" netbook-size keyboard for a 12" laptop. They seem to have trimmed cost from nearly everything but the display. They even opted for a weak mono speaker...even the mini 9 has stereo! It'll only serve to bite them in the rear, if people end up returning it for being too netbookish. -
. When do you expect to receive it? At least you can try it out for a bit of time, and return it if it doesn't work for you.
And, I did not realize that about the speakers..
Why would they do it for the I9, and not the I12????
Wait, were talking about Dell here. We don't question why Dell does the things they do sometimes!
Cin -
OUCH!! THEY sent me a black one.. I did open this open and was very disappointed by how far the battery sticks out.. and un light it is.
I think I'll keep my little red for now... -

We'll be optimistic and find something good about it lol
-
Oh no...that's not good

I now ordered a 12" HP 2230s for a little over 500 euros. (NC10 is 400). That's Core 2 Duo, 1280*800, optical drive, 1.75kg and a full synaptics touchpad
I'll have a look at that Advent. My NC10 is slowly starting to annoy me. The 1024*600 resolution and the size of the screen are serious drawbacks.
Dell Mini 12 was interesting, but with the 6 cell battery sticking out is not an option for me.
Another 12" netbook has appeared though: Samsung NC20. -
The PBell BG45, does look to be nicely made! hmmmm . LOL
Cin -
i just ordered a mini 12 with XP loaded... will post a review when I get my hands on it... from the previous posts, most seemed to think it was a great netbook with a good screen but crappy performance due to Vista with that limited hardware... so hopefully the transition to XP will be a positive one...
will let you know
