128 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
Intel® Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-PCI Card, EUR

I just wondered if anyone else had ordered in the last few days and what their order status is? Mine is 'Pre-Production' and has been since last Friday. -
Hi Adrian,
I also took the plunge and ordered the exact same specs as well, ordered mine on Sunday, and my EDD is 25/10/07, wondering how much did you pay, did you phone up and haggled?
phil -
-
Hi Phil. I rang Dell up and haggled on the price
I probably could have got a better deal though. Managed to get free delivery, and the fingerprint reader for £20. I paid £1130, which also included a nylon carry case that I wanted. How about you?
-
Think I slightly did better than you get it for £1100 with del and everything bar the case. Think going to haggle more once its been shipped
any change on yours or still on pre-production, btw whats your EDD date, mine is 25th oct.
Phil -
That's not bad! Sounds like they have an absolute base they are prepared to go to. I did keep on pushing him lower, but to no avail
Anyway, can't complain, though am itching to get the system!
Mine is still in pre-production with an EDD of 24/10/2007. Are you still in pre-production? -
-
You still in pre-production? I had a strange thing that just happened. I logged into Dell's order status site and it said '3. Production'. I then refreshed and it said '2. Pre-Production'. Very strange! -
aye still in pre-production... might give dell a bell....
phil -
I ordered yesterday, and I couldn't use the online system so I called them up and the Indian callcenter person said its in production with an EDD on friggin 06/10 :O I was planning to take it with me on holiday, WTH.
EDIT: I had someone higher up deal with the issue and I should have it sorted tommorow, man - being press rules -
ordered ome yesterday. how long do the stages typically take?
How is UK build quality holdimg up or do dell source these from the same factory as the US? -
-
Rang my Dell salesman up yesterday and was told that the notebook is in production, though the online order status page continues to say 'Pre-Production'. Apparently this system isn't kept as up to date. We shall see!!
-
any news? mine is still in pre-production but rinign them they say its in production... hmmmmm

Hi all,
So I took the plunge and ordered the M1330 yesterday with the following spec:

13.3" WXGA (1280x800) White-LED Display with TrueLife, Tuxedo Black

Memory Dual-Channel 2048MB (2x1024) 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM 1
160GB (7200RPM) SATA Hard Drive

Primary 6-cell 56WHr Li-Ion Battery 1
Carry Case Nylon Black
128 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS

Dell TrueMobile 355 internal Bluetooth Module
Intel® Pro Wireless 3945 802.11a/b/g Mini-PCI Card EUR
English - Vista Home Premium
3 Year Consumer XPS Premium Hardware Support
From the forum, I know know some of you guys got really good deals by haggling with dell. So I had a go...
After half an hour I managed to get the above for £1220 (inc vat & del) - the online price for the above spec is currently £1,382.83, although the prices seem to change daily. So thats a saving of £162.83.
I've been given a EDD of 13th November, I'm not really very happy about having to wait almost a month, but as long as the EDD doesn't slip back I guess its okay.
So, what do you think? Did I get a okay deal or did I get ripped off? - If I did, should I cancel the order and try again?
Thanks for any replies in advance. -
mines still in preproduction, any news people? my edd is 25/10
phil -
So I ordered on the 17th October, was given a Estimated Delivery Date of the 13th November, but was called by Dell this morning saying it will be delivered tomorrow morning.
3 weeks early!!! That was unexpected!
One weird thing is that I still haven't got a order confirmation yet, no Customer No. or Order No. I guess its not really a problem as long as the laptop arrives tomorrow. *fingers crossed* -
A stroke of good fortune for both you and Dell. -
This model is currently being sold for £1,205 without any discounts. You may want to get onto Dell when your notebook arrives and if see if they can credit you some money back. You would be within your rights to do this. They do sometimes offer gestures of 10% credit back.
-
Hi Rachuk!
I just has a quick look on Dell.co.uk and I think my configuration now comes out at £1322.83 (inc VAT & del.)
(I upgraded the HD to 160gb 7200prm, Fingerprint Reader, small carry case & 3 years warranty)
I am still a little miffed that they have dropped their prices right after I ordered (that always seems to happen to me!) but I think i'm still making a little bit of a saving
but you seem to have got a brilliant deal for your spec, £955!! how'd you get that?! -
Hi Chinezegirl Dell are doing a promotion until the 24th but after that the prices should go back to normal for a bit. They are offering £60 of and free shipping right now. You are dead right sbout your prices maybe i missed something out. You could always though get on the phone to customer service when your notebook arrives if you decide to try and see if you can get more money.
Good luck though and i hope that you like your laptop when it arrives.
Edited to add:
I got my computer for that price basically through some compensation as well that i got back through Dell. The inital price that i paid when the computer was actually more expensive was £1,195 and the top spec model had a retail price of £1,581 back then for my spec. They dropped the prices anyway but i got some compensation back for some issues which took my price down to what it is below. -
Otherwise, that was quite some bartering.
EDIT = Gah, you went and added some more info didn't you! -
As long as there aren't any defects with the laptop I recieve (again *fingers crossed*), I think I'm okay with the price i'm paying.
thanks for your replies, rachuk (and yours, L.Rawlins) -
mine is still in pre-production after two weeks, which is a bit pants in my view, was hoping to get it before the end of the month. Does phoning them up make any difference?
Neil. -
The last thing you want Dell to do, is rush out your laptop. The various 'quality' threads on these boards confirm that notion.
I'd worry more if they managed to build and ship the thing for next-day delivery! -
mines been dispatched yesterday and got a call today and will be delivered tomorrow. Bit miffed that the prices has gone down, will call dell and haggle down or else going to send it back. been waiting 4weeks...
-
I called my Dell sales rep yesterday to check if my order is on track, and he said
Yes it is in production and you will get it on 2/11. Fine then so I hang up.
OD 8/10/07
EDD 2/11/07
Today I have got an email saying that the EDD now is postponed to 10th DECEMBER!!
How can this change overnight that it cannot be deliver on time when the sales rep said it will be delivered on the 2/11?!? Ridiculous
E -
Hi FoxRaven, Sounds like your in exactly the same boat as me. I ordered on October 7th and got a EDD of November 2nd, the suddenly this morning they switched the date to December 10th.
I was expecting some delay as it was still in pre-production yesterday and I didn't see how they were going to get it to me in time but a whole extra 5 weeks is ridiculous!!
To make matters worse they finally got round to charging me for it. I assume now that they have taken payment it'll be much harder for me to cancel as I'll have to fight them for my money.
All in all I'm pretty fed up with Dell. I wish I'd never ordered the thing. If I'd known there was an 8-9 week wait I'm sure I never would have... -
Woohoo! Dell have actually been extermely helpful today. Once I got past the first few rounds of conversations with customer services I've actually been very impressed by the level of customer service I've received on this issue. It doesn't look like I'll have to wait anything like as long as was indicated. Well done Dell!

Hi davidpconnell,
I called Dell last Monday to ask why my order had been delayed until 10/12.
Apparently this time it was the Wireless N card that was out of stock and they are having problem sourcing new stock. So my sales rep suggested
if you dont absolutely have to have the Wireless N card. I could cancel your current order and reorder your system with the Intel 3945 card instead and will be shipped on
the 13th November.
Since I was going to re order it, I asked if they could give me a better price if I upgraded to an LED display instead. Stating not happy with the delays and the price drop etc etc. So after some ten minutes on the phone, Ive got credit back on the wireless N card that I cancelled and upgrade to LED display for £50.
Btw I would not have cancelled my order if they needed to charge me the full amount
again since they already charge my bank account on my first order! Imagine the pain
trying to get the refund ! Finally, the sun starts shining again. I got a call from Dell
today that my order will be delivered as promised 13th November and that within 2 days you will get a call from DHL for delivery arrangements. Amazing! After all
my sales rep was very helpful for a change.. -
This is my first time using DELL, how likely is it that I will get mine before the EDD? And what's the build quality of these newer machines?
No wobble/build quality issues?
Cheers! -
Hiya,
Checked my Order status yesterday evening and I could view the packing slip.
Got a call this morning from Walsh Western International asking me if I wanted AM or PM deliver. So Hopefully I get it by tomorrow!!!!!!!! They better deliver it before I have to go to work! I guess not that bad only one day delay from EDD 13/11. (Based on my second order)
First time I did this order OD: 8/10 EDD: 2/11 delayed to EDD 13/12!!
Cancelled order on 5/11,
reorder 5/11 new EDD:13/11. 9/11 Email from Dell saying delayed to EDD:19/11???? Then back to 14/11. Never seen anything so confusing with the delivery times.
I will let you know tomorrow wobble/build issues and hopefully none of them! Fingers X
Regards -
Hey mate, did you get your M1330 today?
Any wobble/build quality issues/CPU whine, etc?
According to the DELL order tracking site, mine went into production yesterday (but the site was only updated within the last hour and a half...), cant wait to get it!
Cheers! -
Seeing as FoxRaven hasn't updated us, I'm assuming there are no faults and he's currently enjoying his M1330!
Mine was shipped today...CANT WAIT! -
Hi H3rmaN,
Didn't get my hands on my laptop until this morning it was
left with our porter since I didn't manage to get back home in time after work yesterday. Couldn't resist to bring it with me to my work place. Just finished installing vista from scratch.I think have been very fortunate to get a M1330 with:
1: No wobble
2: Prestine build (cannot complain)
3: no CPU Whine
4: Not that it is a big deal. I find that the eject and loading mechanism for the slot in DVD drive is annoyingly loud.
Best of luck with yours
cheers -
glad to hear it mate! Mine was shipped out today! So I hope all is ok! I'll let you know when it arrives!
And apparently nearly all of the DVD loading mechanisms on the M1330 are loud, if I get one like yours I'll be very happy! -
I got mine a couple of weeks ago and I'm fairly disappointed. Not because of the performance of the laptop but the build quality is shockingly poor.
The black panel in front of the keyboard looks like it was installed by a monkey. On one side the screen hinge has a 6mm gap and you can see cables. The clip above the esc isn't flush and then the whole top black panel is all over the place with bumps. Compared it to a colleagues laptop in the office and his is much better and it started to drive me nuts. I suspect that the installation of the bluetooth module is what has caused this bad quality.
I reported it to Dell on Monday and they have agreed to replace it, great service. Expected to wait an age for it but was happy to get a call yesterday saying they are delivering it today - hopefully it will be better.
Regards,
Neil. -
So it arrived and I'm really happy:
1: It has a different LCD screen that is much sharper CMOvsLCD in the display settings
2: The front panel is fitted right
3: Hard drive is not WDC but is Fujitsu and seems to be a little quieter.
can't believe it arrived within 3 days - top marks to Dell.
Regards,
Neil. -
does anyone have a link to the power adaptor for the M1330 on the Dell website.
