Well I am paying directly with Credit Card so that should be the fastest method, and yet mine is not moving yet. ;(

Yep it had full order numbers with links to order status pages, and says order confirmed. I bought from Home.

*sigh*... I don't think things will change much over the weekend... maybe (I don't know how Dell actually works with their man. process). Yours is in a strange situation though... you should definitely call and find out why its being delayed like that (cause some people have similar/same specs as you and are already in production). :-(

of course, "in production" includes awaiting parts to build the unit. So even those that have moved to "in production" may not actually get their units built for another couple of weeks or more. :(

Actually...there are multiple sub-stages to "in-production." The stage you just mentioned is the "kitting" stage but some of us are already in the actual "build" stage. After the "build" stage, there is the "testing" stage before moving on to "boxing."

I hate their "in-production" status... there's so much ambiguity.

Maybe it's the US system, but the Canadian order status page seems to be pretty clear about what stage your order is actually at.

If you don't have the order linked, it won't show up on the My Account page with the precise order status. If you go to the order page, it will say "in production" which will confuse a lot of people.

US system used to break down the stages but over the past year they made it so that you had to call to get that info.

On line I am in "production" since June 26th. I started calling the 800 number and I have been in the "build" stage since I started calling Wednesday last week. I was told my system was being "expedited" 10 days ago. I would not get too excited until the system ships.

I had a Dell order expedited by a US manager and it went straight through all the production stages in like a day btw. The order was not scheduled to ship until a month later. The manager here explained that he put my order right at the top of the production Queue.

I agree that when the usual CSR says expedite, that is just a request to expedite and typically will result in your shipping being changed only.
