I just ordered my vostro to replace ****ty inspiron 1300. Specs are in sig, got quite a good deal shame it will take so long to come.

 

My system was in pre-production yesterday and is now being prepped for delivery, so excited

I'm particularly annoyed as when I ordered my rep told me if I upgraded to the WXGA+ Truelife screen there would be no delay (there was on the WXGA screen) and i'd definately receive the laptop by the end of the month.

 

great1 I'm not trying to start an Argument unlike some people, I know Tensions are high because people want their laptops - simple fact is we have to wait.

And there is no point trying to out do each other like "oooh I've got a Uni Degree to do" well sorry to stop the party but I've got a Pilots Course and a Computing course to work on at the same time!

I expect Dell distributors are aware of this problem and are doing their bloody well best to get on top of the situation...

Order went through on the 23rd, which was Thursday... on Friday it went to Production but then during the weekend & bank holiday it went back to pre-production. Checked it today, and it went to Preparing for dispatch, and apparently now it's already out! I'm sure your order will be fine dude don't worry about it

 

Orgasmic! im gett pretty much same model as you atleast hardware so fingers cross i get same quickness.

 

I ordered @ Lunchtime on that Thursday, no activity order-wise until Bank Holiday when it went into Pre-production, god help us...

Considering I have read more than once of supposed deliveries being made where in actual fact the system never left with the shipping company...it's something to be considered is it not?

Call Dell and ask whats the matter with the dispatched status.........Im now confident that they are atleast sorting things with Vostro 1400 Orders.....Hope my lappy moves into production soon.

Heh with the new e-value codes on the dell website the same specced laptop (which now includes a 160GB HDD as standard) is about £70 cheaper!

Damnit. I'd cancel and re-order but I can't wait another month. Hmm, I wonder if I phone them I could convince them to give me some money, although I doubt it since it's about to ship.

Hmm how did you find out your delivery date? When I click on the Walsh Western link from the Dell order status page I just get a blank Track & Trace page.

 

Craven when did yours go into Dispatched status? It has taken mine about 14 hours to give me tracking details.

Take your customer number:GBXXXXXXXand change "GB" to "02" ,and enter your order number also. WWI may just be slightly laggy so give it a day maybe two and then I would just contact Dell.

They didn't call me, it's just scheduled for Monday. Mine left an hour before yours but also with RAHEEN lol.

Yup, Raheen is the district where the Dell factory is (it's in Raheen Industrial Estate).

An idea would be to ring Walsh and Western yourself - May get you scheduled for Monday yourself. If not you may have the delay waiting to be rang.

Yep it will leave at 5, it took me a while to catch on that it wasn't that there was no progress being made, it's just it was scheduled to ship in the future lol.

 

Heh how annoying, it's now at a business post depot about 20 minutes away. Phoned them to ask whether I could pick it up today but they wouldn't let me.

Reasonably grainy screen (considering ringing Dell about this...not sure I can live with it)
Terrible vertical viewing angles (TERRIBLE...)

Just out of interest, which screen do you have? AUO, SEC or LG?

 

SEC, which is why I say reasonably...it's not terrible, not brilliant, but livable for me as a photoshop user so far.

Honestly...aside from a few little things, I like the laptop a lot - it's heavy - but I would buy it again.

p.s. Re-format neccesary. No doubt about that.

Edit: Beware of a very noisy disc drive! In mine anyway....

 

Can I know what and all CDs or DVDs u have recieved with ur laptop. Have u recieved the Dell Reinstallation Operating System DVD (OEM)?

It's going from hub to hub, don't worry about it, when it's out to you it'll probably say "out for delivery, dispatched, or something that'll definitely let you know that it's near"
