So our laptops are built in Malaysia? Can anyone confirm this? I thought they were built in Kentucky or Nevada or something.

Everything I've heard suggests "build in Malaysia" but I haven't seen it on an 'official' source...

Even so everyone here seems pretty sure...

That sucks. I thought they were at least put together and everything here in America. I felt like the XPS was the all America laptop considering you get the honor of talking to peopling who are understandable for help.

nope built in malaysia, its official everyone who recieves there xps box says built in malaysia. thats why boxing takes so long because it has to go on a plane ride from malaysia to the states before it ships.

As of 9:49 AM this Sunday morning, still in the BUILD stage with an ESD of two days from today, 6/3. Dell is really pissing me off. Maybe should have looked elsewhere for a notebook.

I feel you...my esd is only one day after yours...
Dell is certainly cutting it close.

P.S. I doubt very much your status will change until tonight...
Right now it's 10:53 PM in Malaysia...
Stop calling until about 7 or 8 tonight (their morning)...

I have a sneaking suspicion that a bunch of those guys are taking turns playing crysis on my new machine. It has become the office 'test machine' that everyone gets to play.

I guess I'm really searching for answers now; I just wish they would/could explain what is taking so long in building these things.

Lol. I think they are just playing as many games as they can on your computer before they have to ship it out. I guess your machine is truly spectacular because they hold it back for so long. They probably put it on display because those builders have no clue how to build a machine as perfect as yours.

Yea I'm in the same boat as everyone as of ~11 AM this morning -- STILL IN F*CKING BUILD STAGE! I could have flown to Malaysia built my laptop and flown back in the amount of time this has been in build stage... and killed a few Malaysian terrorists :)

Dell most likely gets the XPS chassis and motherboard from a Malaysian ODM. That ODM ships them to the U.S. to Dell, and Dell puts in the CPU, RAM, LCD, GPU, etc. . . The one thing that is delaying is probably the battery shortage, which is a direct response from the chemical fire in Korea, so Malaysia has nothing to do with this.

I thought the fire occured at an LG plant and these batteries are manufactured by SANYO

    BTRY,PRI,56WHR,6C,LITH,SANYO

O yea sorry about the terrorist remark-- I thought Malaysia was on monkey Bush's axis of evil or something, my mistake :)

Anyways back to topic-- why hasn't Dell processed my order yet?

O yah thats right because it is a lousy company, and I need to buy a Gateway, maybe ASUS, if only they offered WUXGA.

And this happened in Korea, and who buys these batteries? Dell, Hp, Asus, etc. . . You can tell it's a battery shortage because of the outrageous price on 9(+) cell battery upgrades, and the " May delay your M1530 ship date" warning.

no the entire laptop is built in malaysia from start to finish, what happens in the u.s. is pretty much just a double box and shipping label.

The order is actually acknowledged and confirmed in the U.S. I ordered on Friday and it was acknowledged, and over the weekend it hasn't and won't be confirmed until Monday. No clue as to what happens after that.

Relax! You'll get your lappy. I ordered mine on the 9th or May and it was just shipped. Some ppl who ordered before you did still have not received their lappys yet. Remember, it's just a Dell and you are not special.

I agree but when I ordered my Alienware about 2 years ago however, their CS even though owned by the same company was much better than Dell's and my order was shipped b4 their date considering alot of the parts were backordered when I had it built as well.

i was not aware that it had been that long ago at all, but then again i dont follow the news of this industry all that much. I work in the auto industry as a mercedes-benz technician so i kinda geek out on that stuff more or less most of the time. Speaking of worthless technology the new 2010 E-Class will have a feature that reads road signs for you, cant figure out why someone would want that but oh well. I'm sure it will have the night vision too that is currently equipped on the CL and S class models.

It's driving me crazy that even if my computer does somehow manage to ship on time it still won't be here for another week.

If I'm not in boxing when I get up tomorrow I'm going to call dell...
I've got all day to yell at CSRs...

Well it may have been delayed, but only for one day!

Just got the e-mail my 1530 has shipped! Sweeeet! According to tracking should be here 6/4...same day that my repaired Xbox 360 should be arriving and the same day that my gaming shirts should be arriving. Let's hope it sticks!!!

For those on delays, I hope yours ships out soon!

I think you should all be thankful that you are not in my position. Waited for my M1530, came, had lots of physical problems with it, ordered replacement only to find out its going to be a refurb despite asking for a brand new replacement of the whole notebook so may end up shipping back the notebook and reordering a new one just to wait all over again for it...
