WOW! I can't believe ppl who ordered b4 me are getting their laptops already!

That was a pretty long time before it shipped tho... 7 days before mine was ordered and it took 5 more days after the ESD, my 'DELLay' is looking inevitable.

 

Actually 3 weeks of "Build" looks to be the average wait time. Mine went into boxing on the ESD, which was pushed another 3-4 days. So that's almost a whole month from ordering to receiving the laptop.

 

When was the last time you called drpeppir?

 

I called around 1:30 this afternoon at which time the idiot CSR stated the battery was on backorder, but when I called this morning the bich said nothing was backordered and it should ship on the ESD... nuthing but liars

 

I just wish they'd hurry...

I think the computer gods hate me because yesterday I somehow got a virus that disables me from viewing half of my bookmarked websites. My anti virus pops up every hour to tell me that it wants to fix something and it does but it still happens. Yet i can't get my new laptop to stop using my downed desktop.

 

Got a tracking number at midnight local time. I checked this morning in Nashville I expect it to be here tomorrow.

 

Well, you can all rest easy knowing how great my laptop is and how GREAT the LED skin is.

 

My 1680x1050 is nearly perfect...except that backlight bleed, which is only noticable on solid black screens.

But i'm still excited i'm getting a new one with LED. This makes the deal I got even better!

 

Called at ~12 PM still in f-UCKING build stage... <sigh> how is yours looking mathh?

 

I ordered mine on the 27th, cancelled it on the 30th, changed it, and today it's in the boxing stage!

 

Just called...still in build...I'm really not happy with dell at the moment...

Hope your notebooks get there on or before their EDA. I originally ordered on the same date as you then canceled because of a upcoming trip I couldn't take a risk of it not arriving on time.


Out of curiosity I looked up the build times now. Wow, how much does a couple of weeks make. Maybe enough agitated customers and lost sales finally sent a message to Dell.

 

I doubt it will happen now...not with our ESDs being tomorrow and our computers still in build...

 

Yeaa the only difference b/w urs and mine is the display, hdd, and memory which should be negligible since I havent heard anything about them not being in stock.

 

Well I know dell discontinued my display, but I'm pretty sure it's the battery since neither of us have gone into boxing yet, and the delay on the battery is like...8 days (dell says it's 8 days...it's really more than that since they don't count weekends)...

I think I'm gonna change my order and get the LED LCD and the 9 cell battery.

 

I'd love to do what you're doing, Matth, but unfortunately it's not in my budget. I may call and ask for compensation on the other hand.

 

Well I graduated this year, so I worked out a deal with my grandparents...
They will buy it on their dell card thingy...I gave them most of my graduation gift money (around $800) and I have to pay the rest back when I get my Financial Aid dispersment for school (I was going to get a new laptop with it anyway...)

 

I graduate high school on sunday ^_^

However, my mother and father only volunteered to pay for $700 or so of it, and I have to pay the rest. Sure, I may be getting grad party money but I don't want -all- of it to go to a laptop that will be obsolete in two to three years, when I will buy another one.

 

drpeppir just thought i would drop in and see if you had moved out of build, damn shame you have not, i still cannot belive there is no progress as you ordered before me and have a nearly identical setup... i will tell you though the laptop is very very very nice and i would stick out the wait, the screen is beautiful, text not too small to read at all and the real estate is a huge +, when i got mine i had to remove the keyboard though and set the cables flat as my keyboard had a hump in the middle. no biggy though took me 10 minutes.

 

I wish I could have gotten 700 toward my laptop from my parents. They gave me 200 for my graduation and said they'd help if I needed more but I got a ton from the graduation party and they know it.
