Which colour do you like best for the 1420/1520/1521/1720/1721?

well,i decide the wait for the ruby red wasnt worth it, so i decided to go for the green...and then obviously i saw this poll and voted for it....
ps:-cant wait to get my hands on this green ravishing beauty....got to wait for 10 more days...btw, have you received urs??

 

no! I'm itching for pics of what the spring green truly looks like! I made a thread hoping that someone with a spring green 1420 will comes forth and posts all their pics!! I'm so excited to get mine but I just ordered it 2 days ago! Yes, yes.. I do check my order status at least 3 times a day! Apparently some people have been getting theirs well before their estimated shipping date. ::::crosses fingers:::: i'm ever so anxious!

ah-man! The numbers for spring green have plateaued! I bet all the Umpa-Lumpas would choose spring green lol. wow, random! Thats what I get for suffering from status addiction

I chose ruby red, but I also really, really like the expresso brown - nice and dark, almost black, but with a tint of color that really makes it look nice and sleek.

Still, I've seen them all in person, and theyre all great (with the exception of white, imo)

 

What was your impression of the yellow?

 

Can someone please post personal pictures of their ruby red 1520? I can't seem to find any! Links are good too. ;D

 

Quite bright, if I remember correctly. It was more vibrant than I was expecting, along with the red and green ones - definitely a cheery color lol

 

I hope it's not a whole lot more vibrant then I was expecting, or it will be blinding...lol. That actually is a concern of mine (of course came up after the fact of ordering) that it will be to bright and I will have teachers in school that will ask me not to use it as it would be too distracting. Hopefully not though.

 

I'm very picky about my yellow (Baywatch yellow is my favorite color thank you =o) ) So i went & saw the colors at my dell kiosk and it was just too pale/bright for me. It looks nothing like the deep yellow on the site & mags. I decided to choose blue, & now i think i might by the new 08' altima coupe in blue

 

lol, getting a car to match your laptop, that's a new one. I saw a pic of the yellow at a kiosk, and it seemed ok, I just wonder what their return policy is like if you really end up not liking the color you get? Anyone know?

 

I guess their policy is just the 21 day return policy (pay for shipping/handling and tax, get the rest back) that they have...

Although in the end, the color isn't that big a deal.

 

true, but I plan on having this notebook for at least 4-5 years. So if I am not happy with the color from the get go I will be unhappy forever.

 

I spent hours deciding on which color to get; I couldn't decide on Ruby Red or Midnight Blue. Midnight Blue does seem to be the safest color, but ultimately I chose Ruby Red. I'm somewhat regretting it, though, because I'm afraid the bright red will attract too much attention for a computer that I plan to use for at least four years. Later, I went to a Dell Kiosk and they had all the colors displayed except for Red and Pink. The blue looks a lot different than it does in the pictures. Oh yeah, I love the microsatin finish, it feels really nice. Anyway, I hope I'll like the Ruby Red, because that's what I'm stuck with!

 

I think alpine white and midnight blue are very cool but i decided for the midnight blue because white is very common as black color.

 

Well...I voted on Flamingo Pink! I am a girl...love pink...and I thought why not? My DH just laughed...and said "who wants a pink puter???"

I like the pink one. I also like the blue one. But from the pictures I've found on the Net, I think I like that particular shade of pink better than that particular shade of blue. If I saw them in person I might change my mind.

I also like the pink because it's unusual. I've never seen a laptop that color. If anyone asks me about it, I'll tell them it's my passionate pink laptop.

 

OK, well I do have to admit, I kinda liked the pink color, but I just couldn't see walking around school with a pink laptop. As big a guy as I am I thoroughly believe I would be marked as gay and never have a chance with any of the women...lol. I just like the color sometimes. Now Yellow fits me, if it is as bright as I have seen in their magazines and what not, I am about as happy go lucky a person as you will ever find, and I feel the yellow should portray this as best as any of the colors could. I just really hope it's a bright yellow and not a dark yellow. Oh well, I guess I will find out tomorrow.

 

I would pick white if the whole laptop was white. Probably go for brown, red, or blue.

This decision was hard for me. When I first saw the pictures of the lids through dell, I was immediately attracted to Flamingo Pink, but when I saw the actual pink color on the laptop, I realized that wasn't for me. The first time I placed my order I chose to go with Jet Black. There was no wait time and it was less expensive. Then I read the review about the 1420 with the black lid and realized that it was not the same as the others and easily picked up fingerprints. I knew that I wouldn't be happy with that and changed my order to Ruby Red. I had to upgrade my video card as well, and Dell extended the esd from the 13th to the 28th due to the delay in the Ruby Red lids. So after learning the Espresso Brown had a shorter wait time and the color looked so dark it could be mistaken for black, I went with Brown and cut my shipping time by 8 days. After all that, which color do I like best? It would have to be... Midnight Blue. lol... Midnight Blue always had a long wait time and I'm impatient.

 

Midnight Blue, baby! I realize that it has among the longest wait times, but I will take advantage of that with others' advice on here and call for free stuff!

 

Why? Is the actual pink color not the one depicted on the Dell site? Or was it just too much pink for you?

 

Midnight Blue. However, I voted for Jet Black because of the faster shipping times, that always wins!

I'm already waiting a month for Jet Black, jsut imagine if I got Midnight Blue, SHEESH! I'd be planning my funeral by the time the thing showed up on my doorstep.

 

Im ordering mine soon and am seriously considering alpine white. its losing soooo bad. =[ Is it because its too common, or does it feel plastic-y because of the glossy finish?

 

The one on Dell looked a bit darker than the actual one. I know they called it Flamingo Pink and Flamingos are pretty bright, but I thought the actual color was going to be a little darker. Have you seen the actual laptop other than the one dell shows?

No I've only seen pictures online. Pink is the one color that wasn't on display at the Dell kiosk.

Is the color pretty close to the pictures in that review? The picture on the bottom actually looks a little oranger.

I thought it was going to be a darker pink, but a lighter one may be OK. I thought the Microsatin finish looked better on the lighter colors (the green and the yellow) at the dell kiosk than on the darker ones (brown and blue), with the red being sort of in between.

 

I much prefer jet black, from the colours I've seen.

 

I bought Jet Black to save myself 20 bucks, but sunshine yellow is damn smexy, imho. I don't think it gets the attention it deserves.

the yellow on the dell site looks like the kind of yellow you'd find in a field of daisies.

the actual yellow color of the notebook looks like the kind that would beat up the yellow sitting w/ the daisies. ;-)

 

When I ordered a 1420 yesterday, it was $50 more for any color besides black! So black it was... hey, for $749, I guess beggars can't be choosers.

Green's my favorite color, so that was a no-brainer.

I got jet black simply because it's going to be covered in Carbon Fiber, but if I was going to drop the extra bones for a color, it would have either been Red or Yellow. Gotta stick with a car theme here.

I liked Red better...Black is my fav but its also very common and kinda boring...I had to decide between Blue and Red. I chose Red. I'll have my laptop in hand only on Monday. Actually Red appeared to be pretty deep in the pics I saw before I ordered...but then I saw some pics were the Red was very bright...I'm not able to decide...I can tell only when I get my red laptop day after tomorrow...

 

Ordered Sunshine Yellow for my 1721.

My 2001 Saturn SC2 coupe is yellow.

My LG enV has a yellow skin.

Everything matches!

Anyways, I opted for the midnight blue, because: 1) I love blue.
2) It's a nice dark blue
3) It looks very pretty.
It's not a bright blue, it's a nice, dark blue, perfect for me. And my matching wireless midnight blue mouse (waiting for it to arrive) and midnight blue messenger bag go perfectly with it. Yay!

 

I have a ruby red 1720. It was a toss up between this and espresso brown as I'd seen photos of the red and was worried that it would be too bright. Then I thought, bugger it, it only sits on my desk at home anyway.

It's a very nice darkish red colour, not luminescent in the least. Wouldn't blind anyone that's for sure.

For the poster after pics of sunshine yellow, a poster called Einhander has posted pics on here of his 1720. Many, many pics. :laugh:
