I placed my order for Vostro 1400 with WXGA+ on 8/13. It finished the production process on 8/16. It is being shipped from TN to MI as of today with an estimated delivery between 8/21 and 8/23.

 

Expected delivery date Monday (shipped yesterday).

 

Mine shipped yesterday, estimated delivery by DHL was monday, checked this morning and its on the truck for delivery!!!!!!!!!

 

My Ruby Red Inspiron 1720 is still in "Work In Progress" today, since 16th July. Initial ESD was 10th August, then I got an email informing of the delay about two days before.

Now my ESD is 6th September. If all these 1720s are made in USA, then mine has a LONG journey ahead of it too... to Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia!

 

Congrats to all that have shipped. I'm still in boxing as of this morning. I was hoping to get it before the weekend so I could play around with it, but oh, well. Looks like I'll be getting it "on time" next Tuesday or maybe Monday if it manages to ship out sometime today.

My laptop entered boxing stage on 14-Aug. The ESD was today...but its still in Boxing stage and I just now received a mail from Dell saying the ESD is delayed by another week...I was like what???????????????????????

 

Unlucky matey. I feel your pain! Mine got dispatched today and was literally jumping for joy! To be honest I have been complaining but I haven't been waiting too long!

 

Hey for those still in boxing. The 747 with our laptops was scheduled to land this morning at about 4:30 in nashville and the don't ship until 12pm and from what I've learned it usually doesn't appear on peoples status until 6pm that night so keep your hopes up! But regardless dells making trips all weekend with planes coming in tommorow morning and sunday morning so keep your hopes up everyone!

You were right buddy...I just called Dell and the status is now shipped...! Its shipped through DHL...My place is 8 hrs from Nashville, TN and it might be here tomorrow morning...even if Dell doesn't deliver on weekends, I'm planning to give them a call and go and get it myself..

How long does it take from being told it's shipped to actually getting a tracking number?

 

I was told that it updates by the same day evening...I called dell customer care to get my tracking number...but the tracking number details are still not updated in the DHL website...

 

Chat works too. Number's not in the system yet though. Bummer.

 

After my friend, you are the first person am seeing who ordered a dell laptop recently and got it shipped in JUST 3 freaking days!!! Good for you...My friend also ordered it on 25-Jul. He got it on 30-Jul while mine shipped just today...

 

Yeah mine was pretty basic because I was on a budget. I also used my Employee Purchase Program which may have flagged the laptop as urgent so my company and Dell don't cancel relations

 

how can people who were in boxing a day after me get their laptops shipped before me? this is a never ending cycle.

 

I just came back from lunch hoping there might be an update. Still boxing. Although at this point, I guess the difference between getting it Monday or Tuesday is marginal. Unless, of course, it gets delayed.

 

Amen farelli lol.. I swear if mine doesn't go into shipping by tonight that this is just crazy lol. I'm going to try calling a rep to see if they have a more updated status on my laptop though

 

per their website and phone service, my laptop has been in the boxing stage since Monday. I just called to see when it would be shipping because 5 days for boxing is a lot and they informed me that it's actually still in production and NOT in boxing stage and that it's set to ship by 8/28
WTF!

 

that is really ****ed up. if they are lying about boxing I'm never going to buy from dell again those ****s.

 

My laptop has shipped! crash's post made me nervous, so I checked my online status, and it said shipped. I confirmed it with the 800 #. No e-mail notification yet or tracking info. The recording said it was in transit to the carrier. Hang in there, guys!

I'm glad it worked out for you guys. I'm still really pissed about what happened to me. For days i've been calling in and it keeps saying "boxing" and then today the csr told me it's still "in production" and not in boxing. dammit. I hope you guys have better luck. This sucks.

Farelli that sucks seriously..I last checked my order status around 11 am today so I'm nervous as hell to check it lol. I'm at my moms so she doesnt have the internet here and I usually connect to the neighbors router via my dads laptop but the wireless is all ****ed up for some reason tonight. So now I'm sitting here connected to the internet via my dads companies dial-up connection lmao.. It's so damn slow its not even funny. They havent sent me an email as my grandmom would be the one getting it as she ordered the laptop for me. Me and lynskii have basically the exact same laptop, ordered it and went into boxing on the same day so I'm praying to god that mine shipped tonight. I really wouldnt mind the wait but I have college classes starting monday so If I had my laptop on monday that would be great. I am going to be frustrated as hell if it's not shipped though. I hope all goes well with your lappy farelli and hopefully it will ship this weekend maybe. Ill give you guys an update if my wireless decides to fix its self. Peace

 

Technically, boxing is a stage of production, so there shouldn't be any worry about that. Like how the CSR said my order would definitely ship, although I got a nice fat delay on the ESD. Believe the automated system over the CSR.

 

well from what I been reading, boxing also includes the flight from malyasia to the United States. So its gonna be awhile

does anyone know how long boxing usually takes? I'm hoping to have my lappy in my hands sometime next week

 

From what I hear, it's generally about 2-4 days for boxing. In anycase, I'm getting mine shipped to a relative, so I won't get mine till next Friday anyway.

 

Thank god... Checked it and it was shipped. What a ****ing sigh of relief. I feel bad for farelli though he is being treated just beyond unfair with dell. And to Xkul..I went into boxing on tuesday and shipped friday so theres an estimate.

Just out of curosity....how do you know your unit went into boxing at 3am? When I call the 800 number it just says my lappy is in boxing and does not give a time or anything.

I went from build to kitting to build to testing to boxing all within a matter of hours last night. I'm hoping the boxing phase doesn't go past my ESD!

Woot! My order was on backorder but it went into the Boxing stage today Luckily I got free Next day shipping so I should get it next week sometime

Question though...I've seen people mention requesting a specific carrier (i.e., FedEx vs. DHL)...how is this done?? I was hoping I would get FedEx by the luck of the draw, but alas, that wasn't the case...hopefully there won't be any problems...
