It depends on whether or not you have the three INTEL components or not. Wireless, chipset and processor that determines whether or not you get the core centrino or core duo.

Mine has the Core 2 Duo sticker since I didn't get the Intel Pro Wireless card instead I opted for the Dell 1500 Draft N card.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I wish Dell shipped a "powered by Radeon X1400" sticker lol. People try to tell me my computer sucks because it has an Intel card. Until I show them Oblivion (and sometimes agree with them that I have an Intel).

Or you could always buy a laptop with the sticker, take it off, and then return the laptop.

The stickers really do help get *****es. I put one on my laptop (which is just a Core Duo) and all of a sudden they swarmed me. 'Twas a wild 12 nights.

I think they look tacky...but of course it's all personal preference. To me, it looks like a coat with the tag still on it, the one that says how great the Gore-Tex fabric is, and how warm it'll keep you, and how waterproof it is. That's good info while I'm buying the thing, but after I own it, I think it looks better without.

    I agree 100%.

I also think it is funny when people leave the clear plastic shipping film on their laptop as well, or the department store "sales pitch" display sticks on the front of desktops. You know the ones that say what speed of CD burner and size hard drive the PC has.

If your notebook has an Intel Wireless 3945ABG card then you will get a "Centrino Duo" sticker no matter what you have, Core 2 or Core. It's the platform and you'll have to deal with it.

If you have a Dell wireless networking card then you get the blue and silver Core 2 Duo sticker.

Well, x1400 sure beats the crap out of integrated graphics! Sorry, but after almost a grand on a Dell 6400 (300 bucks in instant savings...), I couldn't see moving up to the 17" notebook and spending 1400 bucks. College takes most of my money (granted the 9400 is a great notebook and a killer deal at 400 bucks off, but the nVidia 7900gs adds 300 bucks to the price...OUCH. I'm all about technology, but the price and the huge size of the thing turned me off (although the DVI out is SWEET). I'm not a hardcore gamer. As long as I can play RCT3 and Tiger Woods and the occasional FPS (I like the Star Wars series games also), I'm happy. And I do graphics work (which is why I spent 100 extra on 1680x1050 resolution :D), so the x1400, after reviewing it, was the right choice for me. What is really weird is that the nVidia 7300 option costs 30 bucks more than the x1400, yet EVERYWHERE I looked on Google, the 7300 (and 7400 for that matter) weren't rated in the same class as the x1400...x1400 is a middle of the road performance solution, whereas the 7300 and 7400 were lower-middle. In fact, the x1400 was at the front of that "middle road". Of course integrated SUCKS. I just know that any dedicated video solution you can get will help free your memory and cpu. We get what we can afford, and the x1400 is a smart decision and adequate for most semi-demanding applications/games.

It's so funny to walk into BestBuy and listen to people who want to buy a laptop and the BestBuy folks, well, not so much bull**** them, but people have no clue as to how important it is to NOT have integrated graphics. DVD's are much smoother, and everything works so much better/faster visually and system-wise with a dedicated gpu. So those of you with a 7900 and up, you rock.

As far as case badges, uh, **** yeah mines gonna have one. If I'm paying for a core duo processor and better graphics, I wanna brag about it a little bit. As far as my specs, I went with just above entry level on things that I can update after the warranty is up (minus memory, which I will already be looking to better via a deal on Ebay, Tigerdirect, or Newegg...like the CPU and hard drive. In a year, core 2 duo's will have dropped in price, and the current crop is backwards compatible, so I can drop in a much better processor next year and get a 7200 rpm sata as well. My specs:

    T2250 (2MB/1.73GHz/533MHz)
    15.4 Inch UltraSharp TrueLife Wide-screen WSXGA+ @ 1680x1050
    1GB, DDR2, 533MHz Dual Channel
    256MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1400
80GB 5400RPM SATA (will use my desktop 160gb 7200 HD as a 2nd usb drive)
    8X DVD+/-RW
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g (giving me "Centrino" and better wireless)
    Windows Vista Home

Not too shabby for 830 something bucks :D. Sure beats the crap at Best Buy. My concerns now are Vista compatibility with my Macromedia MX programs and other gaming software, as well as wondering if I can "turn off" the x1400's desire to borrow 128mb of memory from the system to get it's 256. I'd rather it use it's own 128mb and keep its grubby paws off my system memory. :D

May be Dell bought CPU as OEMs so there's not sticker included???

Luckily my Asus is full of stickers: Geforce 7600, Home Theater Dolby, CSR bluetooth, Core 2 Duo, Designed for Xp VIsta capable.. the only thing missing is Centrino Dual.

WHat else i'm missing? may be 2mp Webcam? or Colorshine LCD ? :D :D :D It's time to look for some Chinese Ebayer for some stickers. I got my Designed for Vista Capable sticker when I buy an Atheros card.

I got a Core 2 Duo sticker on mine but it is because I originally got the Dell Draft-N wireless adapter with it. I just ordered a different Windows XP sticker as the one I got on my replacement doesn't have the Vista Capable designation and I got a couple of Windows Vista stickers. I also got a nVidia sticker to put on it. I already removed and threw out the old "Designed for Windows XP" sticker and cleaned all that sticky residue off of the case. Man that was a pain in the *** to take off.

The day I start calling my Notebook Stickers "beautiful" is the day I will shoot my laptop in the bloody faceplate.

it would be interesting to see some of the reactions to a sticker larger than 1'x1' and more than 2 words on it...

If you got the Dell WLAN card you get the "Core 2 Duo" sticker.
If you got the Intel WLAN card you get the "Centrino Duo" sticker.
Centrino Duo = Core Duo/Core 2 Duo, Intel chipset, and Intel WLAN. If any of them are not specifically that, then they aren't "Centrino"
