oh, and may i add the WSXGA i got on the last one was an LG and is beautiful!
-
No...Im still ahead I think... but
You have made a point I bring up time after time. You will get a much better response if you right to Dell (snailmail) rather than following the online routes. Everyone that I know who has is very happy.
They put a much higher priority on written and received documents than emails. It also goes directly to executive Support. -
oh no it was an email.... but a very well worded one to the right channels. -
I managed to get a free extra keyboard and AC power adapter along with battery. The keyboard that I have makes a different noise when i press the space bar compared to the other keys but i can live with it and decided to get Dell to ship a new one anyway so that when it gets really dirty 2 years down the line i will just replace it myself to make it look new. The battery was wobbly and so they shipped me a new one but want the old one back. Hopefully i wont have to send the old one back just like SILUS tried. Then i also ordered some new rubber "feet" as the current ones are uneven.
Silus have they called you yet for your battery? -
-
So basically now i have got from Dell:
Free extra 9 cell battery
Free extra Noise Isolation Earbuds
Free extra keyboard (so i can replace it once it gets dirty)
Free extra AC Power adapter
Free extra Rubber feet (as the current ones are uneven)
Free 3 year Next Business Day warranty
On top of that i got a really good deal and i think I have got ALOT from Dell. I will defenitely buy from Dell again. -
Dell gave me a 10% off coupon one time for my "trouble". But that's it.
Problem was, I got the freebie because I couldn't GET ANYTHING I ORDERED. Every time I ordered from Dell my orders have mysteriously had thier order numbers change, fall into purgatory or been cancelled for no reason, go missing from the system. When I call, they say it was a system glitch and I have to put in my order again.
Heh heh. So I got a 10% off coupon last December for a system I couldn't even get after three attempts to order it. This was for a Poweredge 2950 server, too.
Oi. -
May I ask if the credit and coupon can be use to purchase a refurbished notebook?
If some problem with refurbished notebook, would they compensate the same way they would to a new notebook?
Would the credit or coupon expire in number of days?
Thanks. -
Question: the student discount. My DAD ordered my new laptop yesterday. If I called, and asked about the student discount, would they give it to me? Or would the laptop have to be in MY name?
-
They will only deal with your dad as he is the name and pay of purchase.
-
Well I ordered a 1520, T7300, Brown, 1440x900, 2Gb DDR, 120Ghd, 8600mgt, DVD burner, intel wireless, bluetooth.
After about 6-7 calls I ended up with I think %15 back or maybe %20, the Dell rep said the best she could do is "I can give you %15 credit" before that she offered me 1 year full service warranty but I told her I buy a new laptop every year so that's of no use to me; at this point I already had %5 so I forgot to ask if that was a total of %20 but I'll find out in 10 business days anyway. I'm really happy with this deal now.
Original price is $1539 Not including tax, then this was ordered during thier back to school sale so the price was $1359, + 1.13% tax = 1535.67, and is what I paid on my credit card up front.
So with just lets say I only got the %15 credit I still saved 203.85.
(1520 = $1155.15 + tax %13)
Now I pay only $1305.32 for a wicked little machine, well worth the hassel and to tell you the truth it wasn't even bothering me to have to wait for real becasue nowhere in Canada can we even get a spec'd machine like this for this kind of price, and I mean the origonal price I ordered at $1359 and I still havn't seen one comparable for $1539.00.
I love to slam Dell as much as the next guy but I can't on this one.( I have them @work, damn Celerons!!!)
I should recieve the machine by the 22 of Oct 2007. -
finally have straightened everything out with dell and in the end these are all the upgrades I got in my new replacement 1520 for free.
Free upgrade from 2.0 to 2.2 ghz processor.
Free upgrade from Black to Ruby Red.
Free ugrade from 160gb to 250gb hard drive.
Free upgrade from Vista Home Basic to Vista Home Premium.
Added the Webcam + Headphones to my 1520 for free.
Free upgrade from 6 cell battery to 9 cell battery.
Free Dell Photo AIO Printer 926
All with free overnight shipping.
Overall, these upgrades were definitely worth the delays and the two defective computers I received. I am extremely happy with Dell, especially because they have allowed me to keep the original computer while I wait for the replacement to arrive. They may mess up once or twice but once Dell gets it right, they really do get it right. -
Good stuff
-
couldn't have done it without your "Get Money Back" guide
-
wohast,
What do you mean you got your new replacement 1520 for free?
You did return the 2 bad notebooks, right? -
Well Received %20 credit for my delays = $250ish.
I would have been happy in full with this but now I have defective hardware.
Received 10-20-07 Worked for two days then the WD1200BEVS hard drive died. Replacement ordered 10-24-07 and should arrive in 10 business days.
I wonder if I could ask for Seagate HD instead? -
Yes you can...I did it with my M1210 HD replacement
-
Right on, Im calling tomorrow!

One question. I ordered the T7300 but I noticed that they no longer have this on the site.. Will they have some left overs or do I get the T7250?
-
They go on and off depending on availability. You will get yours.

Ghola - RE: Wonder if I can get a Seagate as a replacement?
Well I called and they were going to get me to buy a new hardrive upfront and have me return the HD from the replacement laptop they're sending me and I would get credited $40(ONLY!). I then said whats the point of that when I can just buy a HD locally for cheaper and keep the 120GB sata that I paid for. I was then put on hold and when she(customer service) came back she said heres the deal I'll send you a new 250GB seagate and as for the HD in your replacement order you can just keep it.
Thats great I said.
I almost didn't call today!!!!
-$250 back for delays on original order.
-Free upgrade 250GB sata Seagate HD(Part # or something ->RX752, but can't find any info on this) for the hasle of the WD1200BEVS HD defect.( not sure how much they sell these for? )
-Free 120GB WD1200BEVS becasue they don't want it back once I get my replacement system.
Very happy camper here. -
Update:
Well Dell orders me a 250GB HD but they placed an order for a 3.5" Barracuda HD for my 1520.
I got a call today from Dell to say my replacement 1520 is on the way and I asked for a status update on the 250Gb seagate for kicks just to make sure.
Well, 1st she says that the 250GB Barracuda on back order from seagate and it will arrive @ so and so date, I'm ok with that, but I'm thinking somethings fishy big time.(Barracudas are for desktops arn't they I'm thinking? And since when are 250Gb HD's rare?) Somethings afoot!
BTW I'm standing in line at the bank so I decide not to get into it. I get back to work and call Dell to inform them that I wanna check and make sure they have the correct HD ordered; sure enough they don't the last CSR I spoke to got this part#a1256104 from someone in parts and tech or what ever its called there. So it's not the CSR's fault fully, they were just listening to someone that should know what their talking about.
Tip: Get part numbers always when CustServ is making corrections for you and double check them yourself.
So they're calling me back tomorrow with a solution, I hope.
Not to late to cancel still. Espescially with the HD2600, HD2600xt and the newest one HD 2700 I think, thats available out there. -
-
Just got my $250 Dell coupon for not returning it (it took me 4 phone calls and some persuading - long story). Added to the $150 for the 3yr CC, that makes $400 in coupons. $1490 - 250 - 150 = $1090. Not bad.
Now if only I had a 20% off coupon for SB E&A, I'd be set -
order 2 Vostro 1400 online for $684 each 2 hrs ago.... I should've and called to order, so I could've gotten some discounts or some Dell coupons... or maybe even a free next business day shipping
maybe I should call tomorrow and ask to cancel the order so i can reorder on the phone. -
-
So far Dell has messed up my order a couple times now and cancelled and replaced it. I called and complained last night and they told me that they would expedite my order and guranteed it to be at my door in 7-10 business days.
-
I just got my 1520 with a free NBD shipping. Is it possible to chat with Dell for a better warranty like 3 years? My lappy only has 1 year on it.
-
Got my free Samsung 320GB HD upgrade today.
5% refund
15% refund
120GB WD BEVS
320GB HM320JI
Waited 75 days but I guess over all it was worth it, still waiting for them to send a return label/info for the 1st laptop. -
Hey guys, do you think I can get any compensation for this?:
I ordered my laptop on nov 3, after I got it, I had to call dell to come and switch out my motherboard....after the tech came, it turns out that the motherboard was refurbished and after it was installed, the express slot had a piece of metal that was bent which made putting the remote in impossible...this wasted a ton of my time
I had to call dell again to place a replacement order...
and now, it turns out that they've "upgraded" the replacement's battery to 9 cell and will be sending me that...EVEN THOUGH I don't want a 9 cell because I personally dont want to trade the m1330's slim figure/light weight for the battery..ill call them to ask if I could just keep my 6 cell and return the 9 cell or better yet, keep the 9 cell for all my troubles...
And during this whole time, the m1330 had a price drop of $100 and now it has a free fingerprint reader upgrade which I had to pay $75 for...
argh, all that trouble...
I'm really hoping this replacement doesn't have anyproblems, I really don't want to have to order another replacement/risk getting a refurbished m1330
[btw, the ask for compensation...would I need to call dell customer service xps tech support? I would prefer to be able to talk about this stuff with xps tech support since their service is muchhh better than the normal customer service] -
-
Give it another try, you might get more...
who got back the most from dell?
