Ah wow, i kinda missed those.
Im kinda waiting for the Classified / KingPin .

But i would just an AIO though if not the FTW3. Also an AIB AIO not the reference PCB based AIO's.

B&H will let me preorder the FTW3. I'm tempted to just do it, screw this rush on EVGA's site.

I probably wont participate in a pre order like this again, it was a huge PITA, my card shipped 7 days after the estimated day, even though I emailed them to upgrade the shipping before I left the country I got no response and will receive the card 14days after the date, there was time today where they were up at NewEgg and a guy who paid for 2nd shipping will get his before I get mine. This is all exasperated by the fact I have a schedule where I need definite dates. I'm sure I will be happy with the card and I know EVGA will stand by itbut the pre sales BS is just too much.

I've heard really good things about the STRIX cards, but I don't think I've read a full review of the 1080Ti yet.

I'm leaning towards MSI, but that's more personal bias than anything. (Love my current Sea Hawk)

Edit: Someone had good things to say about the Zotac one a while back, but I can't seem to find the post.

I don't trust Asus at all. I can't even remember the last time I've heard something positive about their company execs, customer support, policies etc... Even laptop insiders have told me they're poor before.

My Asus mobo is fine, but it feels like luck considering the amount i've heard of failing. I'm sure it's fine, but I don't see the point vs other companies that at least pretend to care. If there laptops have so little effort put into them (GL502VS overheats, GL702vm/vs overheat, G752 had issues for years with USB ports and fans, iunlock got sent a G701 that came stock with the cpu fan connector hidden away under the mobo instead of plugged in...) What kind of track record is that? No one else has that much garbage... I liked them more when they were on top with the trusty G75.

Anyway, MSI is fine, but I'd rather have triple fans. Zotac has some cool looking designs, but I'd prefer EVGA's support if possible. Plus for me their coolers are so large they won't fit in my case.

So that leaves me with probably having to just suck it up, order from B&H (who are awesome, sick store in NYC) and wait.

I find ASUS's PC components to be independent of their laptops as far as quality goes, and their out of the box quality is still pretty high. You've got me kind of interested in EVGA though, as much of an MSI fan as I am.

I hope so, again as my mobo is Asus. It's just the difference in experience between the companies support matter a lot to me. I consider Asus closer to Razer (which is awful) while MSI is somewhere in the middle, and EVGA basically alone in the tier I usually would reserve for resellers. As they are quick to assist and not inconvenience you. You can find plenty of example where people had a gpu issue, and it took like a few minutes to get a new one shipped from EVGA.

Plus their 60 day upgrade program is cool, if Volta launches with in 60 days of buying, you upgrade for free.

Case in point from googling EVGA support experience: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/5lr2ai/evga_rma_experience/

Edit: and I have nothing against MSI, my experience with them is fairly positive.

I had always used EVGA motherboards in my gaming desktops but they didn't have one with this last one and I'm really happy with my Asus MB.

I have had to contact them several times and they were excellent.

Is there a good article explaining why there's 11GB on the 1080 Ti instead of 12GB?

All Nvidia said was they found it was the "sweet spot" for gaming right now.

I wonder if it's like a binning thing or something... Screw up one module and it's fine.

So, I'm kinda thinking right now, the rumors for the XB272 are going all over the place, and I don't really like it... I may end up settling for a single 1080 Ti for now and wait for the monitor to finally freakin come out. I have a feeling now that it'll be late Q3 early Q4, and Volta may be around close to then. So depending on what's happening I'll either sli my 1080 Ti or grab some Volta gpus.

Edit: Does anyone know what the hell this is?

    http://www.gigabyte.us/Graphics-Card/GV-N108TGAMING-OC-11G#kf

My 980 Tis used the windforce cooler and it is quite good. But why is it colored super weird and also only 700 even? Seems like a really good deal...

It's their cheapest card, not the Aorus version, and doesn't have a back plate. Ewww gross.

Yeah I mean, I can't think of a worse color scheme for my preferences wither. I ended up saying screw it and got an EVGA SC Black Edition. Doesn't have all the sensors and stuff, but I'm not planning on doing much with this card. A mild OC is all I want as it just needs to carry me over until the XB272-HDR launches later in the year.

Plus it makes me an EVGA Elite member so if I want Volta, I can get a custom colored one.

Good choice, TBH the Pascal cards are all a crap shoot for the most part. They all seem to overclock within a very similar range. I liked the Black Edition and was very much considering it as a choice.

The main deciding factors were jet.com had the Gigabyte for 660 but had tax, so like 710. Newegg actually has the SC Black in stock, so it'll actually show up in like 3 days instead of a month like the FTW3 and was 720. So that was an easy choice. Can't wait to test this puppy out.

    Exactly.

Either get a decent AIO (non reference PCB) or get a good AIB and watercool it.

I was going to get the black but when I could get SC2 with the discount and free shipping I figured maybe those extra sensors could come in handy at some point.

I would have done the same thing.

This is the first time I have participated in a pre order, I also hadn't overclocked a GPU until this October when I bought my GT73 which led me to doing the same with my980Ti. It will be interesting to see what kind of performance you get for each "upgrade" and if that gain is worth the price, for ,e the tinkering aspect kind of makes it wort the investment.

This is more of an in between gpu for me at this point. I'll probably return to sli when the monitor I want actually launches. But that could be with Volta.

Thanks. It's like a new born baby. I plan on installing it this weekend. My PC is in dire need of a clean Windows install, and this is a perfect reason. Just have to back all my crap up. Will do that over the next couple of evenings and install this weekend. :D. Have 4TB of crap to backup. I think I need to start scrapping some stuff or storing on alternate media because I surely don't need all that. :p

Did a clean install of Windows last night, and installed the video card. Haven't had a chance to play or bench anything yet.

Anyone interested in a 980 Ti for cheap? $250 shipped to USA. It's an MSI 6GB OC version. No mods. Just vanilla out of box used as-is. No issues with it at all.

Wow performance is pretty great on this thing...

1.88GHz stock speeds, temps maxing out at 71C in Rise of the Tomb Raider 4K Ultra settings (FXAA). Pretty beastly. The FTW2 and FTW3 cards must be beasts.

I'm loving my new toy. This card is a beast, I set BF1 to ultra and it was hovering around 140 to 150, my cap is set at 139 so I'm getting the same performance but with more eye candy.

It's not too bad, the exhaust fans are on the back and top, there are two intakes on the front in addition to the two on the radiator, this draws air from the empty pci slot area, we will see how it works when I start overclocking. The lower intake blows some air under the radiator.

So what's blowing under the video card isn't just warm radiator air, nice. I mean, probably doesn't make that much of a difference since hopefully there's some cooler air being pulled from the sides/above but still.

I thing the hot air all goes out the back and top, if I put my finger by the PCI slots I feel air going in which is perfect for the GPU,

Nice. I'm pretty close to overhauling my current system, trying to figure out how I'm going to arrange the cooling.
