No surprise there, I had 470s in SLI and I never feel like I got my moneys worth ever since I went with the best single card I could afford, I also looked at those results and see that I'm not ready for a slower 4K monitor, I gotta have my frames at my refresh rate theses days.

Speaking of the most expensive GPU I could afford, April 17th was the estimated ship date and it has passed with only those who ordered in the first 5 minutes getting them. EVGA let me down. As soo as I get that bad boy I'm turning up the settings in BF1 to see what I can get.

Yeah, it's tough to get the mind set that lets one fully enjoy SLI setups.

If you are negative about any set back - games that don't support SLI right now, or games that don't scale well right now, then fuhgeddaboudit.

If you can rejoice in the games that do scale well, and focus on the joy of the good games instead of the sadness of the SLI failed games, then it's more than worth it.

Whenever I have a game cruising along at 100+ FPS that otherwise won't do 60 FPS for other single GPU builds, it's all worth it.

Totally with him on SLI, seems like the support is so spotty it's almost not worth it to anyone.

Nothing happened lol. Modded the firmware, flashed using a programmer, added 3 x 10hm resistors on top of the caps next to the power controller IC to drop the reported current. Power draw over 350+W :D

Well with this im pretty much running within 99% of the best AIB cards, even though the early batch AIB's and FE's clocks pretty much the same, but the difference is in the power limits.

    Did it cuz - >

    That's basically killing me...

But more so E...V...G...A... 1080 Ti FTW 3 out of stock for freakin weeks now.

I'm praying Battlefront 2 will have sli support.

Every thing so far stated has been awesome. Space is an actual fully fledged mode, all three eras, class system returns, more maps on launch than are in Battlefront 1 right now with all DLC, plus DLC is not going to split the player base and will likely be free.

If that's all true I wanna play it at 4K144 so bad!

OG Battlefront and Battlefront 2 were awesome.

2015 Battlefront was rushed/ a cash grab in order to launch before The Force Awakens. The DLC made the game way better by the end, but was expensive and the damage to the player base who bailed on the game early on was already done.

One thing no one can criticize though, is it is gorgeous. The game is so so good looking, the trailers actually looked like the game. The "feel" of star wars is so perfect. The aesthetic design, sound effects, and scale often have me just gawking at how awesome the fight I'm currently in just looks.

If they fix the gameplay issues by fleshing it out (they also stated weapon and character customization will be present) the game could be a masterpiece.

My theory is EA was rushing Dice, so Dice got the engine down and had to rush the game. Now though, they already have the engine, and feedback from the first one, so they have a lot more time to work on the actual gameplay and adding features.

    I'm pretty excited.

I mean remember, no preorders, but I'm honestly a bit above cautiously optimistic at this point. Walt Williams is writing the campaign. He's the guy who wrote the story in Spec Ops: The Line, which was very well received.

I hope they have an open beta like the first game.

Took the plunge. Keeping with my past 1080 card I went ahead and got the MSI Gaming X GTX 1080 Ti. Just got it installed and will start testing immediately. I was going to just wait for Volta but my tech addiction got the best of me. :D

Wow dude, I never realized just how similar our builds are. I even have a Dell S2417DG. Like... I literally have a 450D, same cpu, will have two of the same gpu, 256 + 500gb ssds (though also a 1TB) 16GB of ram, and an EVGA G2 1000W psu. Like holy crap that's similar. Only real difference is my cpu cooler is a Noctua D14.

Thats the plan. Now I just need to get rid of my MSI GTX 1080 soon. I've been lucky with craigslist in the past and hoping it doesn't fail me this time around.

Nice! The Dell is a great monitor IMO, its a great value for the $$.

@DukeCLR I added you for BF on Origin, at least I think it was you. Get on sometime.

Do you know when gpu warranties/step up stuff begin? (If anyone else knows too)

Like I'm hearing new rumors that Volta could come Q3 now. If my 1080 Ti's don't arrive till June I wonder when the step up program ends. When I bought them, or when they arrive.

A lot of places split the difference and go by when it ships since they have no way to tell when you actually open the box, even if they can tell by tracking that it arrived.

    Grrrrrr....

Get email this morning from EVGA, skim the header see 1080 and FTW2.

Bolt to my computer and log on. See already that the 1080 Tis are on auto notify. About to rage quit that I missed it again, when I see the email didn't say 1080 Ti.

EVGA why u do dis to me. I don't care about a 1080 FTW2 I shouldn't be on that list...

I ended up flashing the Strix OC vBIOS to my Gaming X and have gotten nice results. The stock card seemed to be crashing even at 2025-2037Mhz under load while gaming. This was with stock voltage, 117% power (maxed out), +100Mhz core, and fan curve at 70%. Temps were great around 49-50C in BF1. I was getting a weird microstutter though, which could easily just be the newest beta driver.

I flashed the Strix OC vBios and after an hour of BF1 was still stable with zero microstutters. Ran the card at 120% power (Asus Max), stock voltage, +75Mhz Core, and fan curve at 70% and it ran perfect. Game play was fluid, and lower max temp of 48C. Clocks stayed at 2025Mhz the entire hour of gameplay with zero fluctuations.

I will continue to test more this weekend but so far it seems the MSI vBIOS was crap and using this Strix vBIOS is working nicely on this card. I know it sounds stupid but I am actually debating returning the card to Fry's to pick up the Strix card. If my card were to fail with a Strix vBIOS I am sure MSI would deny my warranty claim. Then again this seems like a good card, zero coil wine and runs super cool. I could end up with a worse overclocker if I were to get the Strix card, or worse IMO is nasty coil whine.

2037Mhz seems to be my limit so far without touching the voltage. I'll try and fine tune and see if I can get 2050 stable with a small voltage tweak but I'm certain that is close to the limit.

Most cards seem to be topping out around 2012-2025mhz unless dropped under a water block.

    hahahaha

    Liquid Nitrogen.

N2 is Nitrogens stable form. As in two Nitrogens triple bonded together. Similar to Oxygen which is O2 or two double bonded Oxygen atoms.

L is liquid (specific because it's naturally a gas at normal temps)

    So LN2 is Liquid Nitrogen

What the hell? EVGA now got rid of the discount on their 1080 Tis??? I'm getting irritated now, it's literally been over a month since the release and the FTW3s are still not in stock and went up in price??

I'm seriously considering just ignoring them at this point even though they're who I want to go with.

    What's the next best?

I dont remember seeing any discounts tbh.

But the GTW3's are definitely hard to acquire, just like the Strix OC's. Things should settle down in a month at most.
