Having a bit of an issue gents. 11900K no longer able to hold 3733 Gear 1 without BSOD in Warzone. It happens almost immediately. Happened across multiple BIOS, including the latest beta from Asus with new uCode.

Happened with my old 4x8gb kit. Grabbed a new 2x16gb 4000 CL14 kit and same thing. So now I am down to it's either the board or the CPU. I am leaning towards a **** IMC from the beginning just completely degrading. But even this seems odd as my voltage was never above 1.28v on both VCCSA and VCCIO Mem. VCCIO was stock. I put these on AUTO just to test and even with the ridiculous voltages it still eventually BSOD. Lower ram speed to 3466 brings back stability. 3600Mhz also crashed with BSOD which is just insane. I should note BSOD also occurred on desktop a few times when just browsing Chrome.

    Things I've tried:

    CLR CMOS
    Optimized Defaults and retune
    Stock CPU with just XMP
Stock CPU with manually set tune
Overclocked CPU with XMP and manual tune
Underclocked CPU with XMP and manual tune
    BIOS Updates
Swapped old ram back in and same results of BSOD at 3733

Am I correct in thinking this is the IMC? Possible motherboard?

EDIT: After further tinkering it seems that unless I set 100:133 option to Auto it will BSOD, but on Auto it seems to again be working fine at 3733 CL14. So odd.

EDIT 2: After more testing the system was still unstable and crashing in Warzone with BSOD. Fresh OS wipe has completely cleared it up. Seems my 2 year old OS install was corrupt or bad driver somewhere.

Nice. +1000$ cards (MSRP is something from the past) is soon not good enough (3080@10GB). Nice move from Nvidia to cut on cost to push you faster on next gen cards :D 10GB vram was enough for the miners.

Deathloop in the test: game review and conclusion computerbase.de

In addition, Deathloop requires a lot of graphics card memory - very, very much. For example, the 10 GB of the GeForce RTX 3080 is the absolute minimum for Ultra HD with full texture quality, but it is far from optimal. After a long gaming session, the graphics card stalls a bit, especially with ray tracing. And if even one graphics option is adjusted from within the game, the frame rate is completely on the ground. Life is much more relaxed at 16 GB, so there were no more problems during the test.
Yep, pretty disgusting! I can't grasp that ordinary people (I don't talk about those that need it in business) want to be a part into this.

I just got the same notification.

I can pay 1909 for the EVGA 3090 Ultra or 1699 for the 6900 XT. Very close performance but the 6900 XT will overclock better.

No issues with drivers, at least not with my 6800 XT.

How does your 5900x fair against your 5950x for memory testing?

That card is very aesthetically pleasing I must say. It would make for a nice and different build out look centered around it.

I had a Power Devil Ultimate 6900xt in my basket the other day when Newegg had them for $1799. With its all black exterior, it would look nice in a dark stealth build.

Well you did the 3090 dance with 2x units so far. Might as well step up to a 6900xt to go along with your 6800xt. :)

The problem with some games, and Deathloop in particular, is that they are laggy, unoptimized pieces of crap. As a programmer and as an individual who has experience in game design, there isn't really any technical reason I see as to why Deathloop should be so VRAM and performance intensive (with raytracing off that is). I haven't actually played the game, but these are my thoughts after looking at it.

There are things that genuinely require more GPU computational power, such as larger worlds or better graphics, but I see neither of those in this game compared to releases from 2016.

It depends on who the celebrity is and if their perspective aligns with Facebook's liberal, socialist, un-American woke agenda. If so, no need for moderation.

If the celebrity holds Judeo-Christian traditional family values such as our nation was founded on, embraces freedom, free-enterprise, and hold other views that form the very fabric and basis for the reason(s) we have historically thrived with success by all measurements, then they are watched like a hawk, heavily moderated and canceled if they say too many things they don't like. If you don't agree with them you are tagged as intolerant, hateful, racist, domestic terrorist, etc. that isn't entitled to express any opinion or share any data, factual information, or participate in a conversation that hinders their agenda.

Twitter is the same way. Just look at how they maliciously and unjustly, and in collusion with the libtarded entertainment industry, tried to railroad Gina Carano because she was not a conventional leftist celebrity.

Then you have Pedro Pascal who peddled the opposite and actually provably false narrative with the kids in cages bit, only for Internet bro's to figure out soon after the picture he used is from 2010, and from the wrong side of the planet (Palestine, soup kitchen).

I really have no issue at all with nearly anyone's politics, it offers me additional perspective I lack in terms of how people think and I do enjoy picking up on these things. I just wish taxpaying Adults were willing to attack the actual root of someone's position instead of side skirting it and going straight for pre-ordained circular self fulfilling prophecy that everyone already knows and that the group thinking it should oppose you already wants you to be.

Bernie Sanders writing womens rape fantasies? No Problem! Kamala Harris threatening homeless single Mother for truancy? could be first female president!! Biden using the death of his Wife and child for political points? He's our guy!

I really wish EVGA made custom graphic cards for Team Red. I read the warranty agreements for both Powercolor and Asrock GPU's, they are in fact starting illegal information. For example on Asrock cards, if you remove and/or alter a warranty void sticker, they claim that voids the warranty. Powercolor has similar language. You can tell they are not actual US companies because they can't enforce that in the USA. If you read this https://www.asrock.com/support/RMA/ASRock Graphic Card Customer Induced Damage.pdf it says US Only. I won't support any company like that. Damn shame, I almost purchased that Forumla OC card.

I have heard truly horrible things about ASRock warranty service. I don't know if it is still the case, but when I was researching the idea of going back to desktops in preparation for abandoning laptops in the middle of 2015, at that point in time a consumer could not contact them directly for product warranty service. It is (or was) only permitted by the original owner going back to the place of purchase and working through them. No direct access to ASRock was allowed.

Agree conceptually. It isn't that someone has a different perspective that is an issue for us. It is the militant censoring by the far left of those that hold a different view that is the problem. Not agreeing with their agenda is the problem. It is not permitted without repercussions and malicious interference. You and I won't get the perspective we lack or the ability to view the full picture needed to sort the truth from propaganda because that information goes against their agenda. They mislabel everything they disagree with as misinformation. Their irrational bias is exceptionally self-damning and destructive to all who are exposed to it.

Ohhh that would be super lovely!

My Asrock card is probably my worst one, I have to tear it down this weekend as the mem temps sit at 100c daily. Surprisingly, the AMD reference card is my best in terms of mem temp, lows 70's. I do like my PowerColor card but I have to tear those down to since there is no Thermal pads on the opposite side of the memory. Gigabyte and AMD reference are the only cards that spent more time on memory temperatures oddly enough. Cant mod the Vbios on them* though since they are signed so its give and take I guess.

them = Gigabyte (not AMD reference) *

It is still true. https://www.asrock.com/support/index.asp?cat=RMA End users have no warranty. Only "authorized" distributors do. Bastards.
I wonder how they define what "attempt" means, LOL. They afford themselves every opportunity to shirk accountability for anything they might do incorrectly. I bet that makes the horrible service and extremely slow process of warranty action that ASUSTeK is famous for seem quick and easy in comparison. They clearly have no regard for the people that are misinformed enough to purchase their garbage.

    @Papusan

Ok here are some photos of the CPU that died. It has been sitting in my brothers PC every since it randomly died on me.

I cleaned all of the paste off. And took several photos.

looking at the weird coloring on the silicon is what made me think something may have penetrated that barrier. I really have no idea. It was mounted in my system and working perfect every single day. My PC would not power on at all, after it did eventually power on, it was like the computer was going through some kind of psychosis event.. And it just died on me…This CPU also has some damage on the substrate, but It always had that substrate damage. (Already there when I got it). CPU worked great, so I really didn’t care lol.

Anyways, I have no idea why it died. I wish I did because I just delidded my brothers 10850K for him. (It works fine) (But when things randomly die like this, it really makes you question your self)

I told my wife to just stop by Best Buy on the way home and grab me an 11900K or 10900K whatever they have in stock is fine with me.

The point here is that, it’s all good! I’m not upset over anything at all. I mean, these things can obviously happen. And it is what it is. At least I got to have some fun with it. I benched the hell out of it, sent tons of voltages to it, and re-mounted it at least a few times trying to get good core to core temps. Once I was totally satisfied with my final OC and temps, the cpu went total KAPOOPIE on me. It’s a real reminder of what can happen to anyone.

Man, that sucks. It looks like it burned. I have never seen anything like that before. The dark part in the middle looks like a result of severe overheating. Maybe your high voltage issue leaving VCC and VSA on auto was too much.

The weird coloring on the die shouldn't be a problem. See this one before it was cleaned. Worked as expected after cleaning
    [IMG]

But the PCB doesn't look great. What have happened to it?

You used direct die when this happened for you. Maybe that could have been a culprit/or accomplice, but other cpu's died with standard cooling, soo.

Yes I think so too. The auto VSA and auto VCCIO work great up to about 4600-4700Mhz memory. It applies around 1.330V up to a maximum of 1.450v

But when I kept going on this G.Skill Royal z ram I went for 4,800 then 4900 then 4933. Then just started reducing timings from there. And I discovered the really high ram frequencies are pushing that VSA up very high to the 1.50-1.60V range.

I thought the same thing. It looks like the latched slipped off. Because it’s on the IHS, and the substrate in the coordinating spots.

However, it was always like this. So, that’s not what caused it.

It was a used CPU, previously delidded, and previously overclocked and ran. It shows signs of use, wear, and tear, so no big deal.. “it worked, that’s all that mattered!”

You had a better cooling than what der8auer used. And he clearly said he didn't think the voltage was the problem. You are sure the coldplate covered the whole die perfectly? There is still a small risk involved with direct die cooling.

Yes. I’m going to. I have misplaced my fritz somewhere. I was actually gonna polish the die before taking photos, so it can be seen more clearly. LM really stains up the die, and makes it look terrible.

I will find it shortly and get some more up.

My 7980XE die looked like crap after a year of use and re-paste LM. But after fritz polish it really made it look like new again.

Now, this 10900K does have that unusual darkish gray tint to it. I have used LM a lot and never had an issue. This die coloring looks a little different than usual. Almost as if something may have potentially gone wrong in there.

What is this? This does not look right. I did not notice it until I zoomed in. It looks like it burned or something. Perhaps running it without any screws on the bare die frame cause an issue?

I have no idea. It’s always been like that when I first got it. It’s pretty small upon inspection but the pictures make it look more noticeable. I never mentioned it to you because, well, the CPU worked lol. And I don’t care to nitpick about things, I also just didn’t really pay attention to it. I first noticed it when I went to re-mount the block after first getting everything. There were tiny remnants of black Intel silicon on the substrate so I went ahead and scraped off any tiny specs of black silicon residue that may alter the die frame. And then I fritz polished the die. And all was well.

The die frame goes over the entire CPU socket, and socket frame. And the green substrate sits below the black plastic of the cpu socket. So there no way possible for the die frame to touch this area of the substrate at all.

But the damage has been there a while.

@jc_denton mentioned the most plausible idea. And I thought of the exact same
thing too. It really looks like the Intel ILM slipped off the IHS, and slammed the CPU substrate.

However, I never ran the CPU in a ILM. Or even with the IHS. I only tested the CPU in a ILM after it was already broken.(My brothers motherboard)

However, I can see how someone could easily miss the nicks in the substrate.

I don’t know.. All I know is, they were there when I got it. Never really considered how bad they were until after actually taking these photos and zooming in.

@Mr. Fox do you have any shots of the CPU after you delidded it?

No, I don't have any photos. I have delidded so many CPUs that I don't really bother taking pictures or doing any before/after test documentation to demonstrate the value of the delidding process because it's a no-brainer to me that requires no justification, just like the importance of using thermal paste. The last few CPUs have been have been delidded as soon as they come out of the box as an "automatic" part of the system setup process, before their first installation. It's very odd looking, but I suppose it is possible it was that way for a long time if it is not very noticeable. Pictures do tend to magnify the appearance of everything. Even something as simple as taking glam shots of a PC can be challenging because every speck of dust and every fingerprint is glaring and obvious in the photos.

I'd love to delid the 5950X but the thought is scary to me because it is PGA and not LGA.

It really is just the pictures that make it look worse than it really is.

Picking the CPU up, someone would look right past that, and not even see it. I only noticed it when I went to clean the chip up. And I was inspecting for remaining residues that can only be seen in different lighting angles. And even then I was just like, “ok whatever moving on”

Oh and, my memory is out for delivery right now. Unfortunately it is after 5PM though. So I will drop this Gskill 4000CL15 4x8 off first thing in the morning.

That looks like a delid with a rockitcool that was too tight and the delidding metal pusher can hit the side of the chip and scratch/mar/lift it up like that or weaken it to the point it will give away under heat. It usually won't kill a chip though and they work fine. It is very symmetrical in nature though so that's odd.

That very dark scoring on the die does look very abnormal.

Maybe some LM ran amok and touched a no no spot?

Yeah, could be that there was a spot on the die that the liquid metal didn't stick. From my experience you'll have to rub it in longer than a few seconds as a few do. And if you use Flitz polish or similar, then don't forget use a proper cleaner as last step.

That does seem very logical since it is symmetrical. It looks like the position and spacing could match the pusher block as well. The top green layer of the PCB is only there to protect the traces underneath, so unless the underlying elements are severed, minor blemishes in the green surface layer will not affect anything.

This is true, but @tps3443 was not having any temperature problems, so it would seem unlikely under the circumstances. When I have experienced that the temperatures have usually been poor with a lot of variation in temperatures between cores if there is a bare spot with no liquid metal contact.
Excellent. Thanks. I will look for the tracking number from you tomorrow.

How is the bench assembly coming along? Any photos you want to share yet?

That is for the cores/iGPU. But will a bare spot with no liquid metal outside the cores give same awful temps? Lets say over SA

    Yep yep!

So upon assembly, I did install both wings on the side. But I ended up just running it without them because I actually ran out of tubing. And this prevented me from running it the way I wanted to. So I just threw on a single 1080MM Alphacool on the back.

Also, the Extended ATX size of the Z490 Dark Kingpin prevents running the bendy arms that hold a 120mm fan, and allow you to point it at specific components. The board blocks both mounting holes, so I have got to drill some holes more than likely to accommodate these bendable fan mounts.

Also, I was shocked how clean my water was. I actually used a coffee filter around a plastic syringe and re-used all of it lol. Distilled water with silver kill coil and that’s it!

My original idea is to mount a 1080MM Alphacool nexxxos on each wing.

I do not like the angled legs. The bench is a little wobbly. Honestly, it’s very wobbly! And this is due to the legs have no support at the bottom at all. The flat model legs are mounted lower, and it prevents and flexing or wobbling at all.

I have all of the other parts included to really make it whatever I need it to be. I may incorporate two white HWLabs GTX360’s on the side wings. And then, run just keep the single 1080mm on the back

I'm the same way. As long as it is working, I'm usually good to go. I don't freak over scratches, mars, dented boxes, dust, dirt, dog ear manuals, etc.

Meh, it is what it is. Once you're running chips out of spec anything can happen. :) I've had a few die on me and I'm sure I have a few more in the future.

I like the way the rad looks on the back!

Yes, that looks really cool. Totally agree. But, I bet it takes up a lot of extra desk space, LOL.
I have done minor mods to both of mine (the first angled one like yours and the flat one I have now) like drilling an extra hole here or there. There is some room for improvement in any case and these benches are no exception. Even little things like providing steel screws (versus nylon) for mounting the PSU would make it better. An E-ATX board barely fits it. I wish they made them about 3-4 inches wider from side to side and 3-4 inches deeper from front to back. In spite of all that, these are still very hard to beat. Making a one-size-fits-all Swiss Army knife bench would be nearly impossible due to the unlimited ideas people have about how to customize their beast.

Those yellow rimmed fans look really great with the white bench color.
The wobbly thing never bothered me. I never noticed except when moving it around for dusting. All they would have to do to make the angled version not wobbly is make a 90° bend at the front and back to form a lip instead of the thin edge without a lip (see photo). That is why the flat version is not wobbly. That lip adds tremendous rigidity to the flat-top version.

I apologize for the strange question, but is it possible to disable a specific CPU temperature sensor or change it to an incorrect value?

I'm just stumped, I can't stop thinking about my 4930mx that's sitting on my desk collecting dust, all because the iGPU sensor (of all things to possibly fail,) is giving incorrect temperatures. I'm going to test it in another laptop at some point soon, but if I could just find a way to trick the iGPU sensor into saying something different, the CPU would be able to be fully functional again.

You mean the machine boot and run but the incorrect GPU temp sensor trigger shutdown or thermal throttling? Not so sure an other machine can show you another results. But I gues its still worth a try. Maybe Unclewebb have an answer.

From my link above from @unclewebb
Programs like RealTemp, ThrottleStop, Core Temp, etc., all read temperature data directly from a register in the CPU so the bios version or any issues at the bios level will not have any affect on core temperature readings.
The only problem is that many of Intel's 45nm core temperature sensors are not very accurate temperature monitoring devices. 10C of error is not out of the question.
