Is it me, or is Aquamark complete junk?

LOL, it's hard to get Aquamark scores that are impressive. I think @Johnksss might know a secret tweak to getting the most out of it. He always beats mine even with lower clock speeds. It's an ancient benchmark and sometimes an older GPU running half the clock speeds still beat more powerful current GPUs as long as the CPU is beastly overclocked.
From what I can tell it is really sensitive to CPU clock speeds and background processes. IPC and core count seems to be less important that core clocks, but maybe that's just my impression.
Try killing all services that are not necessary and change the application priority to real time. That might help.
For whatever reason, I always get the best score on the first run. Any subsequent attempts are always lower scores. -
Its not using all the cores, but there is no setting in the app, and I alt/tab to task manager and set affinity to all cores. It then tells me that I aborted the test. Is there anyway to get Windows to remember the affinity setting?
Still a stupid benchmark IMO. When was the last time it was updated? Ten years ago? It still has a Pentium 4 Hyper threading setting

Yes there is. It's under the settings tab. Just make sure you have checks in all the cores you have.

It is set to 16 in the app settings. This is what I am looking at.

Even on iphones, it rarely heats up the phone. Passmark does really better. iPhone thermal throttles itself after running it once.

Might have to bite the bullet and buy one of these.

You might be able to if you get the GPU cool enough. Mine won't do that after I have been running the computer all day long and have everything warmed up, even with liquid cooling. And, I definitely can't do it with air cooling. (I might be able to if I used my AC unit like I have always done for laptop.) And, the severe duty GPU benchmarks (like 3DMark 11) also make it harder to hold those high core clocks. Also, need to be using a @j95 driver mod if you're not already. It has all of the NVIDIA cancer filth stripped away (telemetry, GFE, Optimus files and similar worthless atrocities).
Yup, I want to do that as well as this https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fb-asus-m9h-monoblock-nickelLast edited: Feb 1, 2018Papusan, Raiderman, Vasudev and 1 other person like this. -
I've not ran his yet. So you just download them and run them or is there some steps to take like the notebook modded drivers?
To be honest, I thought he only modded notebook drivers
Raiderman likes this. -
You have to follow the instructions provided by @j95. You download the stock driver, extract the contents and delete a bunch of folders full of filth, then download his tweaked INF files for that driver version to replace the stock INF files, then install the driver. Also, use DDU to strip out all of the old garbage first.

Edit: same driver mod as the notebook driver mods... all are based on the desktop driver package and he includes support for 1080 Ti and I believe 1080 desktop GPU.Last edited: Feb 1, 2018Papusan, Raiderman, Vasudev and 1 other person like this. -
I was thinking of this.

That would work just as well. The important thing it to get one that fits. The FTW, Strix and many other models are proprietary layouts which are different than reference PCB design.
Well, it gets points on HWBOT. Yeah, it's old and kind of junky, but points is points. Some that are better benchmarks don't get any points, so there is nothing more than entertainment value if no points are to be earned from running them.
It could be a Ryzen thing with Aquamark if you were not able to get it working right because that is an ancient benchmark, to say the least. I have had hit-or-miss results even with Intel CPUs.Papusan, Vasudev, KY_BULLET and 1 other person like this. -
You can add MaxxMem to the list of "junk" antique benchmarks that is hit-or-miss functionality with modern hardware, but still earns point on HWBOT.

@Mr. Fox How come your hwbot signature is not updating?

What does the driver mod do apart from removing the services/parts that are not required - does it allow the GPU to hold higher boost clocks or something? -
Because it is broken. Every day my ranking changes by 100 to 200 places and the feature to update the signature in my account does not work. In the last 24 hours I have been 1st, 2nd, 163rd and 169th place, LOL. Before they rolled out v7 I was in the top 50. And, when I click the link in my profile for ranking it either does not show me anywhere on that page, or it never matches the ranking shown on my profile. Must have something to do with their database still being messed up and recalculating.
@j95 would need to respond to that, but the details of some secrets are best kept in the shadows so counter-measures cannot be easily taken to interfere with them in the future. But, what you mention is more than ample reason to use the mod. Removing worthless garbage that adds no value is, in and of itself, all the incentive I would need. Doing that almost always also has a natural effect of improving performance.Vasudev likes this. -
Your sig should look something like this...
edit. I can't get the code to show correctly right now

Yeah, mine will not generate it correctly now either. And, the code does not match yours. It looks like the older code before they added the Amazon spam crap. I will probably just get rid of it from my signature until they get things sorted.KY_BULLET likes this.

LOL, ok... when I replied a few minutes ago my profile showed 163rd place and clicking the link showed me in 169th place with people above me with hardly any points. Now it shows me in first on my profile, but clicking the link shows me in second place with the person in #1 having about half the points I have and me above people with more than twice the points than I have. So, it's really messed up. Later today it will show something totally different. See examples I just snipped.
Edit: hmmm... now my US flag is gone, too. Weird.

When I looked earlier it showed you at #167 - 9 = #158. for the 9 people that do not belong above you.
Not sure about amazon spam since i never have gotten spam from them using the signature, but to get it right. you would need to get the correct link.
Yours will look exactly like mine except for username and the number after the U at the end. Then it will work fine. That number is in your profile.

Yeah, it's all goofed up right now. Hopefully, won't be too much longer and it will work itself out. There is an incredible amount of data that has to be sifted, and I have no doubt the way they changed the point calculation structure is probably complicating matters. Even without the change, that's a ton of data to recalculate. I read through the threads where they were talking about all this stuff and still really don't understand what was broken or why they needed to "fix" anything with the points system.
Edit: if you click on the link does it show you in #2?
For me about half the time it does and then the other half it takes me somewhere else and my name is not even found on the page where it takes me.Last edited: Feb 1, 2018 -
Exactly why I quit looking for the time being..... It will take some time to get it right and not lose any data.
Vasudev, KY_BULLET, Raiderman and 1 other person like this. -
lol, now we know something is messed up! I have noticed, that when you submit a score, it doesnt show your points. I am having to click my profile, then clicking the "link" button to see points.
-
Yeah, that started a while ago, before they implemented the new version. When it is late evening our time it takes even longer because their servers are doing maintenance or something. Once in a while it will calculate while I wait, but I usually leave and come back later to see how my submissions scored. I also noticed that my ranking sometimes gets more goofed up now after I make a few submissions. It often pushes my ranking up too far for my points and then after a while it goes back down closer to where I am supposed to be.
I also cannot stayed signed it. I don't know if they did that on purpose or what, but every time I close my browser, even momentarily, my log-in is lost and I have to re-authenticate. -
I will try it again and see. It also could have something to do with some of my blockers, anti-tracking plug-ins and filters. But, it all started with the version upgrade.
Edit: Nope. That did not work (clearing cookies). Logged in, then closed my browser and went back and had to log-in again.Last edited: Feb 1, 2018 -

Hmm. I don't remember now. It must be using DX11 for W7. I'll have to check into that to see if DX12 runs any better. I doubt it.
Good multi-core score. You edged me out a bit on that. Nice job.
-
@Raiderman - nope - just checked all of my screen shots for my desktop benchmarks and I have never run Superposition on my desktop under Windoze OS X, or maybe I did and the score was lower so I did not bother saving a record of it.
@Raiderman - nope - it's a little bit lower scrore with Windoze OS X, but very close to the same. Close enough to consider it a margin of error. But, clearly not "better" (as I expected it would not be). Very rare to find something Windoze OS X does better. If Time Spy would run on W7, I'm pretty sure the only thing that it does better would be Fire Strike.

Hmm, thats good to know. Funny how hwbot has it listed as a DX 12 bench, yet Windows 7 users can still run it, unlike Futuremark .
