We plan on rewatching each of the original trilogy per day from the 18th to the 20th. On the 21st we’re going to rewatch the Animatrix then we will be ready to dive back in on release on the 22nd for Matrix Resurrections.

I’m hoping it’s at least as good as Reloaded. I know it can’t match the original and if it is as subpar as Revolutions I’ll be disappointed.

I am pretty sure I am going to enjoy it even if it turns out to be the least of the Matrix movies. I think we all agree on which ones are the best. I just like anything violent with Keanu Reeves in it, even the sequel titles that left something to be desired compared to their predecessors. I like all of the Matrix titles, all of the John Wick titles, the 47 Ronin.

I also like the Bill and Ted movies and it doesn't get much worse than that, LOL. I put Bill and Ted in the same category as Dumb and Dumber, and Wayne's World, and all of those priceless classics are too stupid to not love them.

I don't want to be odd one out. But I don't like this at all. I apologize. Sorry.

I have been a Matrix fan since I knew computers. I used to watch these on my iPod 5G Video converted, I still have my same iPod as you can see in my sig (with 400GB and running custom firmware Rockbox). These movies, I have them on 1080 Bluray and 4K as well. They reduced the high volume of tinting of green tinge on 4K copies the quality is top class but that Green Tint is what that defines the Matrix PLUS I got The Matrix Script book (The Art of the MATRIX ) as well in mint condition. Animatrix is one which everyone should watch once as it's a prequel. Anyways that aside, they are going to rewrite the story and retcon the whole thing like how Dragon Ball Super does to Dragon Ball Z / GT. Or how Star Wars under Kathleen Kennedy does or how that new Terminator Woke Fate did or the new 007, literally every single franchise out there from games to movies.

Personally, among these Matrix movies, the first is really flawless. Reloaded is the one which actually took the cinematic fight choreography to next level - Freeway, Twins and expanding the scale of the whole Matrix world they built. Revolutions is one which gets lot of negative feedback but without the that Captain Mifune act and the whole Machines vs Humans sequence the Trilogy doesn't feel proper so I see all the Matrix movies as a single part. Yeah it goes way too bonkers with the whole Telekinesis part in real world, but as a whole they are perfect. The OST by Don Davis is just marvelous, insane sound tracks and background score.

One of the famous OST by Don Davis and Juno Reactor.

Where's the whole style of Matrix costumes ? Neo looks like John Wick came into this, literally their marketing. Keanu Reeves as John Wick enters Matrix heck the posters are outright poor. All his expressions and the story that they are going for, he is clearly jaded unlike the Trilogy. That's most infuriating part, and it perfectly sits with what I read for the story and the dialogues in the new Resurrections trailer which is a huge huge redflag. Not only this movie has the scope to ruin itself BUT the whole Matrix lore and Trilogy.

The stars of the whole Trilogy - Hugo Weaving and his fantastic lines with performance. Lawrence Fishburne. Without these this movie is empty shell. They didn't even bother with these folks for this movie. Next up the whole plot is out. I read it (because the news surrounding it was highly questionable regarding the whole Wachowskis and their whole movie portfolio) and in this new trailer what Neo and everyone seem to utter literally confirms what I read. On top of the new characters they try to pull people into with this nostalgia bait is downright pathetic and shameless. This is not the same crew handling this movie on top the marketing is non existent. It's not there...

I wanted to watch it at my local dual 4K Laser Projection IMAX theater with 12 Track sound. But nope. I'm not going to unless the plot is not the same (I read the Terminator one and it was 1:1 same and when I watched it I literally threw up, I expect the same)

Matrix, LOTR, Terminator, Aliens my favorite franchises. I hate to see them get rewritten.

I think anything that comes out of Hollywood in the era we are living in is likely going to be woke idiot tree-hugger Marxist trash until we line them all up for a lobotomy or bankrupt them by refusing to financially support anything they are involved with. There are random exceptions, but most of the actors, actresses, producers and directors are braindead, reprobate, depraved sheeple with as much common sense as a box of rocks. But, I often tend to do movies like I do gaming. I prefer fast and furious (pun intended) with minimal complexity to the storyline, and very few slow-moving moments. If it has good special effects and lots of violent action (hand-to-hand and weaponry) and smut-free, I am probably going to enjoy watching it. It may not be memorable or re-watchable, but I'm OK with that if it keeps me on the edge of my seat the first time through.

Nice! I built my brother a Strix D4 12900k rig. Seems like a pretty great board for the price.

I got an SP91 Vietnam 12900K (Batch 007 ). My first 12900K was from China and was SP86, and it was a great chip from my testing but wanted one a tad bit more binned.

P cores from 54x to 50x all core
E cores at 40x all core
    Ring at 40x

Not at all close to max, but what I was daily driving on my old chip since I don't usually push to max for gaming and desktop use. These chips are complete beasts. I need to go back now and tune down the voltage since this was with my older lower SP chip. Will be interesting to see how much I can shave off.

Ditto. Ever since being a young lad and watching Bill and Ted I've liked Keanu. You are right. Just fun, dumb movies to watch. Speed and Point Break dialed it in and The Matrix just solidified it. I actually like him MORE in the John Wick series than The Matrix. The 47 Ronin was a sleeper hit for me too. He has a fantastic cameo appearance in Netflix's "Always be my Maybe" that had us cracking up playing himself.

I'm not expecting anything approaching the original. I never seek out spoilers or leaked scripts. I'm the same type of guy that won't even play beta games. I like to go in fresh and experience my delight or disgust real time on release as intended. :)

I'll do my due diligence and re-watch the original trilogy (like I haven't seen them dozens of times anyhow) and Animatrix and settle in front of the 65" Sony on the 22nd and have my poor wife catch the highs and lows as they unfold!

NVIDIA's RTX 2060 (12 GB) launch is a disaster for everyone but crypto miners

Incidentally, it seems that NVIDIA has released non-Lite Hate Rash models, going against its position with RTX 30 series cards. In its review, PCMarket HK discovered that the RTX 2060 (12 GB) offers better crypto mining performance than the RTX 2070 SUPER, RTX 3060 and the RX 6600 XT. Not only can the card mine faster than those three, but it can also mine more efficiently to boot.

Strrix D4 will let me reuse my B-Die or 2x16GB SK blah sticks without breaking the bank even if I managed to hunt down >=5200 DDR5 sticks. SP9X is the goal but realistically I'm more concerned for the P-cores SP rating. If the 12900k had been a China variant I most likely would have left it there. Anything below an SP86 will be going back unless it has horrendous E-Cores and magical P-Cores. I would be quite content with an SP91.

Asus Z590 M13 Hero shipped yesterday from Amazon Warehouse and now will be here tomorrow. I'll spend tomorrow setting it up in the test rig and putting it through its paces to see how Amazon Warehouse treated me.

Asus Z690 Strix D4 ships today and will probably be here Thursday or Friday. Hopefully I'll have enough M13 Hero testing out of the way to then move onto the Z690 but realistically it will be the weekend.

I was wondering how your binning had turned out and at least you didn't get a 7x or 6x. Watching Linus hit a wall even with sub zero and running monster temps with an SP79 was pretty brutal.

I know @tps3443 will watch our results and start getting the itch sooner than later for a 12900k. :p

    My P-Core SP is 107.

I've got Trident Z5 6000Mhz CL36 in bound for delivery tomorrow.

Samsung DDR5, thank god. This 5200Mhz CL38 XMP was total crap. It topped out at 5400Mhz CL34. I should be able to push the Tridents to around 6400Mhz or higher I think.

Yeah, I’ll get there with 12th Gen soon. I’m still loving this incredible 11900K though. Also, I noticed something. When the memory is at 4000 gear 1, this greatly increases the voltage demand per each core underload at 5.4Ghz. If I reduced the gear 1 memory speed even just a tiny bit to 3900, CPU power consumption goes down substantially, as does the load voltage going to each core.

I’m not too concerned about it though. Ive been going easy on it. Chip has never even seen 80C before lol.

    I have bumped gear 1 to 4,080Mhz.

Also, I do really like the 12th Gen. I’d want a good one though. It’s more fun getting a terrible chip first, and then getting an amazing one haha.

Whenever Z690 Dark rolls around, I may consider grabbing one in February or March.

Also, I have noticed a drastic improvement running Dual Rank memory in Battlefield 2042.

Going from a 11900K at 5.4 and 3867 CL14 with 2x8GB. Then jumping to a 11900K at 5.4Ghz with 4,000+ CL14 with 2x16GB has shown higher and more steady GPU usage.

In BF2042 my GPU usage at 2560x1440P would average between 88-95%.

Now it is averaging 96-98% all the time. This would reflect the higher frame rate, and higher 0.1% lows you usually see going from SR to DR. “If the DR is similar in speed” Well, in my case my dual rank is running even faster than my single rank was, due to the better IMC on my 11900K. So, it’s absolutely destroying my previous performance with single rank memory.

It is amazing how dual rank, and a better IMC can provide such a significant different in GPU usage. I’m sorry it has to be said, (I will never use single rank again, unless I absolutely have to) And if anyone is using single rank, they need to revisit this.

The performance differences are huge. Some games take dual rank very well. RDR2 felt like a different game entirely. Assassins creed Valhalla would dip down to 56 on the lows however my average frame rate was always around 130 fps. Now with dual rank, my lows are nearly doubled. CPU bound games that only use a few cores like Ark Survival Evolved, massive performance increases in a stable GPU usage. I could never get this title to maintain a stable GPU usage no my CPU 10900K,11900K. Dual rank seems to have resolved any issues at all with this title.

    My conservative goal is P-Core > 100.
I was JUST reading up on Samsung over on ocn a second ago, nice!

The wonderful thing is it isn't going anywhere. This is Intel's best for the next year. AMD will respond fairly soon and we get to do this whole tango again till Zen4 / Raptor.

I think it was @Mr. Fox discovered the power of Dual Rank years ago when he noticed a significant difference in performance testing some G.Skill SO-DIMMs which happen to be dual rank vs single rank sticks and reported on it. Clock for clock DR > SR but SR clocks better overall. It is finding that sweet spot if your DR sticks can't match your SR sticks in freq and timings.

Yes all 12th gen chips with P/E cores have two SP scores (I guess technically 3). You have P and E core SP scores, and then a blended overall SP score.

My SP91 (Vietnam chip) overall chip is:
    P core SP 107
    E core SP 71

My SP86 (China chip) overall chip is:
    P core SP95
    E core SP70

OEMs Target Miners with RTX 2060 12GB, But Gamers Need It More tomshardware.com

Officially, it appears the GeForce RTX 2060 12GB cards are going on sale today. And by "on sale" we mean "sold out unless you're a miner."

One OEM (who shall remain nameless) specifically told me, "This will be more of a mining focused card so HQ is not going to do a big media push on it." Wait, what? A mining-focused RTX 2060 with 12GB of VRAM? How in the hell is that a mining focused card?

    It’s only getting worse.

If Nvidia launched a 2060 12GB, it should be limit 1 per home and sale it to gamers who desperately want a video card.

Or as I said in one of the previous posts. Make an Founders Edition, sell it on own store and price it correctly at MSRP. And limit 1 per home. But I expect they know the AIB partners will sell it in bulk and none will know how many chips Nvidia pushed out (they know it goes to miners).

Edit: From my other links with NVIDIA's statement....
As to the inflated prices that scalpers and even retailers are charging, NVIDIA's chief financial officer Kress says the overall situation is beyond NVIDIA's control. However, what is in NVIDIA's control is what it charges to its AIB partners and OEMs.

Again. Why push the chips to AIB partners & OEMs when they know who'm will get the cards. Greed. The higher price point for all older and current cards will make it easier for Nvidia to legitimately increase MSRP for the 4000 series release.

PC hardware is getting worse, and the infection is spreading to motherboards and DDR5 memory. I hope PC hardware will not only be for the rich and famous. It’s already nearing that.

I was curious, so I started looking in to 12th Gen a little. I can get a 12900K, but I’m not so sure about available motherboards and pricing.

Asus Z690 formula is like $800 dollars msrp, and prices are much higher where it is available to even purchase. Evga will price their boards a little cheaper hopefully, but the inventory will be non existent.

I may just have to enjoy PC hardware one generation behind. I’m ok with that.

Everything that is desirable is overpriced and ultimately a horrible value. Even things that are mundane (e.g. an obsolete but new 2060 with 12GB of memory) are overpriced and a horrible value. Mainstream consumer-level meh trash today is priced more like yesterday's high-end enthusiast stuff. Factor in that the enthusiast-level motherboards require the purchase of overpriced DDR5 and it quickly turns into a joke. If you want to re-use your expensive enthusiast-grade DDR4 you have to settle for mainstream consumer trash motherboards. I like the idea of letting the joke be on them with lackluster sales. Let's see if they can eat a price tag. Wut? You want how much? Nah, they can go ahead and keep that overpriced **** and see how that works out for them when it's time to make payroll and their bills are due, LOL.

From my edit above... The higher price point for all older and current cards will make it easier for Nvidia to legitimately increase MSRP for the 4000 series release. 3080 was etch too cheap meant to scare AMD (They capped vram to 10GB to shave of prices - AMD had to put in 16GB to compete). I expect we will see a nice price hike with next gen cards vs 3000 series. Hope Intel can do something in the low/mid end to stop this madness. But don't expect a major change.

Yup. I hope it backfires on them and costs them a fortune. I'd love to see them hurting, even devastated, financially as a direct result of backlash against their greed.

I would still happily purchase the supposed RX 570 Duo (RX 570 x2) as presumably because it would using up w/e inventory was left on those dies and memory as it still provides for a decent efficiency just from a mining standpoint. 60Mh/s @ 125w is perfectly acceptable at least for me, maybe it doesnt make sense for the larger mining groups? No idea. Are there better cards out there? Of course. Am I thankful for the purchases with @Rage Set ? absolutely. That all being said I would have a bit of a bias to purchasing older cards retrofitted to the purposes such as mining so long as its made via utilizing old inventory. With all the smoke and mirrors I wouldnt be surprised if they made new inventory of old tech just to make more money but there is only so much due diligence I can do on my own.

Most of my cards are 5700 XT's bought second hand as they were upgrading to 3080's or 3090's. Im a bit of an admitted cheapskate but I also like to repurpose things. Im still holding onto to 2x 1070's that I suspect might be dead just havent gotten around to really go after it and verify that they are truly dead before giving up on them lol.

If the 2060 12GB was faster memory to utilize the leftover 2060 dies I would look more fondly on them, heck even if they were dual GPU that might be something but as far as I can tell its just a rehash at a higher price point. While I understand why dual GPU's were never the forefront, as they were more expensive for less OC headroom as well as supporting mGPU's scenarios were tenuous at best. I think they make better sense from a mining standpoint if the net material use is less and using what inventory might be left.

Im ranting, in the end it boils down to same old crap that we have to deal with for everything else in life. Sounds great in principle but as always, the execution makes the case.

Dang, wish you could view the SP rating on Gigabyte. I may switch to Asus in the future when I go to DDR5.

As a general rule, ASUS seldom has a match in the realm of firmware. Where things tend to get sketchy is their lousy customer service and warranty service. The QC on their hardware manufacturing is also not very good, but I think that is an industry-wide problem for all brands right now. None of them actually make the products that bear their brand name, and good help is hard to find.

If we could pair EVGA hardware with ASUS firmware, that would be extremely compelling. That said, other than the SP rating feature, I don't really think ASUS has anything going for it other than marketing strength. EVGA's biggest problem is being consistently late to the party and not enough product to go around. That frustrating circumstance is the only gripe I have against them. The really are amazing at everything else.

    Intel Z690 Motherboard Costs Explained
    EXCLUSIVE by techpowerup.com Today, 14:40

There has been a lot of discourse about the cost of Z690 motherboards, so we decided to ask around to find out what has changed compared to the previous generation of Intel motherboards. There are obviously several factors that have come together to create something like the perfect storm, as the simple answer is that all parts combined have resulted in more expensive motherboards, but there are a few key components that are major contributing factors.

A lot of speculation has been about the cost of the PCB itself and although it's correct that the PCB is a contributing factor, we're talking about a couple of dollars in extra cost, not only for the higher quality PCB materials themselves but also the fact that boards with DDR5 memory are more costly to produce, as more care needs to be taken with the overall design. However, the big surprise to us is that the single part that has driven up the cost the most is the physical LGA-17xx CPU socket and retention mechanism, which is apparently around four times as expensive as the LGA-12xx socketo_O
    [IMG]
Although we don't have a precise cost of either socket, an LGA-115x socket costs around US$5 in comparatively small volumes and as motherboard makers are buying far greater volumes of sockets, they are likely to pay less per unit. Even so, it seems like LGA-17xx sockets should be somewhere around US$10-15, even in large volumes. This makes the CPU socket the second most expensive component on most Z690 motherboards after the chipset, which has a list price of US$51, which is $1 more than the Z590 chipset.

Another contributing factor is the power design, as Intel moved from IMVP8 to IMVP9.1, which meant a move from DrMOS (Driver MosFet) to SPS (Smart Power Stage) modules. This design change has led to the use of not only more expensive power designs, but these parts are also in short supply, which means that each power phase is about twice the price on a Z690 motherboard compared to a Z590 motherboard. On the plus side, they should be more efficient and have lower thermals than a DrMOS type design and prices are likely to come down over time. However, as we're seeing boards with more power stages than in the past, this is as far as we can tell, the second most costly design change of the Z690 motherboards. It's also not possible to use an IMVP8 power design for a Z690 motherboard, so there's no way of saving any cost here, except using fewer power phases.

On high-end motherboards that have two PCIe 5.0 slots, a PCIe 5.0 retimer is also needed. Unfortunately we were unable to find the pricing of PCIe 5.0 retimers, but an eight lane PCIe 4.0 retimer costs around US$45 on fairly low quantities, so an estimated guess is that the motherboard makers are paying as much as US$20-30 each for them in greater quantities. However, this isn't a concern for most Z690 motherboards, as it's not required for a single PCIe 5.0 slot.

As far as the physical PCIe 5.0 SMT slots are concerned, the cost difference is 10 to 20 percent, which means a few cents per connector, in the kind of quantities that the motherboard makers purchase. A requirement here is that the board makers need to have the right kind of SMD/SMT and pick and place machines to be able to mount the PCIe 5.0 SMT slots, since older through hole slots were added by hand at the motherboard factories. As such, it's likely that some of the cost of investing in new machines are likely to spill over to the cost of each motherboard, until the machines are paid off.

None of the above takes into consideration the current situation in the world, where there's a shortage or a price hike of just about every conceivable part that goes into making a motherboard. This includes everything from the cost of aluminium to resistors and capacitors. One thing of note here is that most motherboard makers used to place their component orders three to four months ahead of production, something that is no longer possible when many, if not most components have a 52 week lead time. As such, they have had to make big changes to how they place orders and this too is likely to lead to further increases in costs. We're also hearing whispers of potential price increases coming early next year for some parts, so if you haven't gotten the motherboard you were looking to buy yet, now might be as good a time as ever to do so.

At least when new stuff comes out, it doesn’t make the old stuff not fun anymore. Total opposite actually.

Honestly, I’m more interested @Mr. Fox new fancy high SP100++ 10900K, then a 12900K. Lol

12th Gen bug just hasn’t bitten yet.

Open Box Z590 Hero arrived and as always the description doesn't match the product condition itself. Description said it had marks, scratches and heavy signs of use and was missing most of its accessories and ranked "acceptable" condition.

Instead, it looks nearly brand new and has all its accessories including the stickers. Pins are straight and socket is clean.

Of course it won't matter if I hook it up and it's a returned dead board. I'll find out later after the gym.

Nope. Either BM for https://hwbot.org/rules?referenceId=5268 or still BM https://hwbot.org/rules?referenceId=5288

And this apply most 2D benches (Cpu) on the bot. The main difference between with and without BM is how you can put up Screenshoot etc in CBR11.5. This for all types Cpu's.

Canonkong also has it working on Z690 with MSI with mobo chipset drivers. Same mobo as the guy here, he also mentioned the OS sees it as 2 CPUs.

The problem is many Z590 also some or other way do it. BUT having to run 24.7 stable is the challenge. As mentioned by @Mr. Fox on how he discovered the Z590 DARK having issue with it on NVMe or how Z590 ASUS cannot do it without ACPI modded or the beta BIOS. X570 ASUS also, we cannot use Simplix with xHCI USB driver backport because ASUS mobos will not work with that and instead have to use the canonkong modded pack. Still it's a mess with Ryzen because of CPCC2 and others, some state it's perfect for Ryzen on win-raid for so many boards some mentioned microstutter, some say their ASRock board gets BIOS updated Windows 7 will BSOD but I don't have hands on how it will work properly. Because of MCM design and disconnected uncore running on 2008 OS without scheduler updates.

While in the Intel ADL case the E cores are seen as a secondary CPU cluster entirely lol despite being monolithic I wonder how the OS got to know that aspect...because I thought Intel Thread director is obscure to OS but upon checking Anandtech again, I think the OS plays a fundamental role this is the whole reason why Win11 is messed up bigly on all CPUs of AMD and Biglittle Intel processors. Same for Intel Thread Director, the solution to Intel's own ARM copy cat problem. It is essential to communicate with the OS properly. So I think here the ITD is communicating with the OS as 2 CPU system. Regardless it's a feat that 2008 OS works on a damn 2021 Hardware. Shows how much quality of work is put into Windows 7. A literal bulletproof OS ever made.

One must disable those E cores and run it on P core only. Then we have the driver INF challenges. I don't think it's going to be a viable platform for Windows 7 to be honest. Next gen Z690 refresh Raptor Lake will have more E cores 8P16E and then Meteor Lake is going to have 8P32E cores (socket unkown) Just like how during SKL and before we have Quad Core i7 refreshes Intel will keep on adding Eww cores to max and market them as 32C or 40C processors (I hope AMD doesn't pull this BS and get only homogeneous designs be it Zen 4c or Zen 5c or Zen 4 or Zen 5 only SKUs)

And probably Z790 will add more Gen 5 options like NVMe and those things working under Windows 7 will be a challenge. Since the last big company Nvidia also axed the support from all their GPUs off Windows 8.1/7 and entire Win32 stack itself to a DCH mess. Also most important, the BIOS updates. And Windows 11 Scheduler updates. Also the 10G LAN maker which everyone uses Marvell, they axed the support for Windows 7 on their latest 10G LAN controllers, the last one with support in on X570 Aorus Extreme. ASUS Crosshair VIII Extreme has new 10N LAN which won't work on Windows 7. Wifi is anyways not working we can replace the card with Intel 8260N. Audio codecs another issue ACL1220 is pretty much only on low end mobos. I225V is the last one luckily with Win7 INF support through modded.

Most surprising thing to me was they didn't kill off CSM/Legacy in 2020 and even in 2021 as that was their plan all along. Maybe once Windows 11 gets enough traction they will do it as that demands Secure Boot as mandatory in their list which all OEM trashtops and junkbooks will have it on by default and their Windows Defender will even scan their BIOS then they might remove it from LGA desktops.

At this point M$ hates Windows 7 and probably even Windows 10. And I'm sad to say the OS is going to fade away most of the PC gamers use Xbox UWP $1 pass, nobody cares about Win11 issues eventually all will move and trash Windows 10 users like how Steam forums have Windows 10 users bashing Windows 7 users etc.

More Info on the above case courtesy of Win-raid person...

The upper level of benchers on the bot (or those with good contacts with MB manufacturers) etc have access to signing keys and custom made firmware. They can also make own custom firmware for the best results. I mean even with the older Win XP is possible.
