You have right. Card performs nicely but still uses yust 12/5 Shaders. On ATI Specs site they sey, that it uses 36/8.

    Why would they lie?

Maybe this card isn't x1900 but something like x1750. They have less expenses to make 12/5 card than 36/8 card and yust overclock it or something....

Would you buy a card like this, if on packaging would be written 36/8 Shaders and you would know, that there are actually only 12/5?

I would never buy a card like this...

Nope it won't. I opened 100 FSC laptops and had no problems.

    ATITool 0.27:
    Vertex Shaders 5
    Pixel Shaders 12

    GPU-Z.0.1.5:
    Shaders 12 Pixel / 5 Vertex

    Newer versions, same results...

If you haven't done it already, I recommend that you post that information to those applications' official forums, so that their developers might try to fix those issues in the next release versions.
    - GPU-Z forums
    - ATITool forums
And if you still think your MR X1900 chip is cribbled, run 3DMark06 to see if you would get similar results as others with the same chip. If your chip was that badly cribbled, it woudn't get even close to a working MR X1900 results.

This card could be underclocked x1950 pro card (newer edition with 80 nm technology). It has same specifications. Could also be x1650 pro, because of the results of Pixel/Vertex shaders, that Gpu-z and Atitool programs are showing. But benchmarks of this card are lower in greater clock and memmory speeds than that of x1900 mobility. The x1900 mobility doesn't have its own fan cooler. It has only static cooler and is linked to CPU fan cooler. Sensors for temperature are only for CPU. I will try to install some extra cooling below the laptop and then overclock it gradually to near as possible toward 575/690 Mhz. I want to see if benchmarks would be similar to x1950 pro with approximate hardware configuration.

P.s. ronkotus, I have done that reports and am waiting for newer versions that will have support for bios of this card (I don't rely on that). Maybe flashing bios with the one of x1950 pro would show real shaders... But that's to risky right now for me.

Apparently, if you install Alienware Bios you will make up to 4GB of ram work in Xi 1554 (or 1526/1546/1547). Source.

No. It depends rather on CPU than OS. If CPU supports 64 bit extension it has more address lines so all the 4 GB (and a lot more) of ram can be addressed. 32bit WinXP on such CPUs show Physical Address Extension line in MyCompruter properties, General tab.
