I tried it and i think i need your help a lot, i couldnt create the raid 0 and now my computer wont boot. What to do ?
I created array - put raid 0 - selected drives - put 64 k - and (start create array) then it said it was completed i went - esc - selected both drives in (select boot array) and put both hard disk in boot "mode" , and now i have only one HDD in raid 0 and i really need them both so ... and it wont boot anymore from the windows installation cd ??
is there any advise for me and what i did wrong..
i did delete array when it didnt show those both HDD´s and when i did that BIOS showed again my both HDD´s but i wont boot anymore.
i did manage to install windonws two times but i only got then one HDD so i went and installed it again and partitioned the 228000 something mb to half so i tought that was the way to get 2 drives but i guess it wasn´t so deleted the array so i could see those both in BIOS but now it wont boot anymore. so what i did wrong and can you help me in any way.

In a couple of days I'll get Xi2550 with WinVista. It has preinstalled 2 GB of ram. In datasheet for this NB is said that there is 2 GB max. 2GB for Vista is not enough. Does anybody know if there is really such limitation, or they just don't want anybody to put there more because of more heat?

Does anyone have problem with overheating xi 1526? When idle, temps are 60-64 for processor, 70-74 for gpu and 45-49 for hdd (celsius). What can be the problem? I opend it, fans and grill are clean. I haven't change anything. Couple days ago it started to turn on fans cuople minutes after start. Until recently it worked normal. Button for downclock doesn't help at all.

When you say idle, are you sure CPU usage is very close or preferably at 0%, meaning there are no heavy background apps/viruses running? You can check it in taskmanager. If you are also certain that there's no dust, dirt, hair or anything blocking fan or grill, it might be a good time to change thermal paste for CPU and GPU. And while you are at it, check that the heatsink gets good contact with CPU and GPU. However, the fan might also be broken. It might have been bad to begin with or just damaged in hard use. E.g. letting the fan spin while the laptop is off (e.g. when cleaning it with compressed air) can permanently damage it.

There is no CPU usage or GPU (1-5% for cpu). Fan is not broken, it runs loud when temps get over 73C. I am suspecting on heatsink, because i have travel quit a lot and laptop was under huge amount of vibrations. I don't see any another rational explanation, how is possible that temp for GPU is 73C after 10min from starting and using only opera for web surf.
Are there any connectors for heatsink, on wich i should pay attention? -

Does anyone else with Xi 1554 have a problem with loading high-res textures in games? Like, you'll change the texture detail from "Low", to "High" and there is no visible change. This has happened with Half-Life Ep. 2 and Mass Effect for example. Some other games, especially older ones, work fine.

I solved my problem with overheating. Main problem was with heatsink, it seems that it wasn't good attached. In service they chcked heatsink and it was ok., than they just put all together and it works ok now. Temps are about 50-54 C on normal usage.

Hello Everyone Who Owning Amilo Xi 1554
I Just Installed Alienware Bios On To The 1554
And Working Perfectly :d
Instead Of Fujitsu Siemens Is Alien There Ha Ha
This Is Unbeliveable ...
So Now I Can Install Core 2 Duo T7600 And 4gb Of Ram :d -
Hi, I have the Xi 1554.
I've had the notebook for about 1.5 years now and after seeing some graphics glitches and visual artifacts in vista, I sent it in for a check-up and the technician tells me I have to replace the video card because the memory is faulty.
The price to replace the card will set me back about half as much as the notebook itself cost seeing as I'm in SA and the card would have to be imported.
My question is: Can I install an altogether different video card into the machine? I'm sure most who read this thread can appreciated how unhappy I am with the ATI mrX1900...at least with regards to the complete lack of driver support anyways.
So, does anybody have any insight into my problem and if so, any suggestions on which card I could look at to replace the fried one?
Any feedback asap would be greatly appreciated seeing as the shop is waiting on my go ahead to order the same card.
Thanks -
I think that there is BIOS update wich solves problem. It keeps fans runnig all the time and temps are lower 5-7C.
