AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz,CLEVO P15xEMx score: P23350 3DMarks
My vantage score went up 3000 points from the stock driver!!!! That's a 15% gainThis driver is amazing! I played some Crysis Warhead with ZERO slowdown and excellent fps the whole time! With the stock driver and underutilization, I would see constant slowdown in large areas. Thank god we are finally seeing the 7970m's true potential!
My only problem is I can't get MSI afterburner working properly. It just shows 0 on the clocks, and I can't get it to show fps, temp, or utilization. Any ideas on how to fix that?

any more gaming experiences with the new driver? i am more curious about the ingame performances
-
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
I'll let you know once I figure out how to monitor utilization and framerates without afterburner. I'll try fraps. I know that there wasn't any slowdown whatsoever in Crysis, which is a major improvement
edit: Afterburner is showing fps, but nothing else. I'm getting a constant 60fps in Crysis Warhead, where before it would frequently drop into the high 20s! So happy right now lol -
u can enable overdrive in ccc via this trick.try that to see if u can overclock via overdrive!!
C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI Afterburner\MSIAfterburner.exe" -xcl -

More performance info: Saint's row has also majorly improved. It was one of 2 games that were inplayable with the enduro issues. Now, I stay at a constant 40+ fps while outside driving around/blowing crap up/etc. Before it would drop down to 15 fps and turn into a slideshow. It is soooo much better now.

sorry, not sure what you mean. When I open up the afterburner file I see a bunch of file folders and the afterburner application. What am I supposed to do? forgive my ignorance please lol. -
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
can u elaborate more on the instructions to enable overdrive? -
I am currently on shipped BIOS A08.test with my M17xR4 with HD7970M.
Should I upgrade to A09 before I also apply CCC 12.11?
Can someone confirm for me the best way to upgrade CCC to 12.11 is to remove shipped version of CCC, reboot, run ccleaner, reboot, install CCC 12.11, reboot?
Thanks -
u just add -xcl command at afterburner shortcut and press apply.hen run afterburner from shortcut.after that restart laptop then the overdrive option will be added in ccc!!
-
He means right click the icon --> Properties and then this:

So I added -xcl in properties, then clicked afterburner and nothing happened. I rebooted the computer and opened ccc, but didn't see anything about overdrive. Did I do something wrong, or are there steps I'm missing? Please let me know
Thanks!

darxide_sorcerer Notebook Deity
and don't forget to remove -xcl from the shortcut after the reboot, so you don't execute the same command whenever you want to run Afterburner. -
darxide_sorcerer Notebook Deity
this is a kind-of stupid question, but did it ask you to reboot? -
did u left any space like in this pics?after that when u run afterburner it asks u to reboot
-
Ok I removed the amd 12.7 drivers...rebooted...removed intel drivers and reboot...installed new intel drivers reboot then installed this new beta and can't even boot into safemode. did I do wrong?
...tapatalk... -
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
Ok, it didn't ask me to reboot, but I did anyway. I went in to remove -xcl and when I did, my computer crashed and I got a BSOD. I think I may have executed the command a couple times... did I screw something up? Should I just restart the process, try adding -xcl and see if it asks me to reboot this time? I'm scared I'm going to screw something up with my noob skills lol
edit: here's what made it crash: I removed -xcl and started afterburner. It shows my clocks now and lets me change them, but whenever I click "apply" my computer crashes with a BSOD. It has happened twice now. What should I do? -
here is mine 3dmark11 stock 12.11 beta.why combined score is so low compared to urs?
the overdrive option is still missing from ccc?if yes try to install afterburner 2.2.1 then try again the -xcl trick to see if it works

It will vary each time you run the benchmark. -
Quagmire LXIX Have Laptop, Will Travel!
They really opened the faucet with these drivers! and it's about time, 400FPS on Tiger Woods 12 was just unplayable
3DMark11
12.8 whql P5850 (850/1200) P6633 (974/1560)
12.11 beta3 P6573 (850/1200) P7311 (970/1560)
Dirt Showdown benchies from original Dell drivers (12.5 I think) to 12.11 beta3 increased by 23%
Nice work AMD, sad, for your good work you get laid off. -
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
Ok, it has crashed 3 times now whenever I try to apply an overclock in afterburner. This is really freaking me out. Any suggestions on what to do? -
Quagmire LXIX Have Laptop, Will Travel!
Try completely uninstalling Afterburner along with profiles. Then reinstall after reboot. -
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
Ok, thanks man.
edit: removed and reinstalled. Now it's showing 0 on clocks again and still can't monitor gpu utlization, temperature, or clocks. It will only monitor fps. Should I tr to get overdrive working in ccc or try to do the steps to allow overclocking in afterburner? -
Forgot to install the CAP...got it to work and wow!!!! 5700 to AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,CLEVO P170EM score: P6532 3DMarks stock!!!

i just tested the clocks 1020/1560 on bf3 multi and its not stable...
then i roll down 1010/1560 and its 100% stable for 40minutes play.
on caspian border 64 players all ultra(2msaa+hbo on+16anistr+1080p),minim 55fps-max 73fps
very good boost...... -
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
very nice! Are you overclocking in afterburner? I can't get mine to work with 12.11; it just shows 0 on the clocks
-
So ho do you get AB to show temps/usage?
-
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
yeah, I'd like to know too. I'd also like to be able to get it to overclock without giving me a BSOD lmao -
Mine behaves really weird, I can overclock with no problem when on the built in monitor but when I overclock while on the external monitor instant bsod.
-
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
weird... mine is bsoding on the built in monitor. I uninstalled afterburner, so I guess I'll try resintalling and see if I can get it working again. I'm assuming you can't see temps or utilization either? -
I can but with HWinfo. you can configure it to show everything on display or on graphs.
-
no i oc via ccc-performance-overdrive.
i dont know the way, cause johnnyman make it work for me....
-
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
Would you mind pointing out the options I need to select to get tempterature monitoring to display while gaming? thnx
Oh I see, I tried that earlier today and that's when my computer started BSODing lol -
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
anyone getting crashes in diablo 3 with this driver?
-
P6588 3DMarks with AMD Radeon HD 7970M(1x) and Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor
Holy Mother of God -
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
nope, but I'm getting crashes with everything else lol. It seems the only way I can stop the BSODs is from uninstalling afterburner. I hope it works until they get this driver fixed, then I can start overclocking again. -
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
that's about what my reaction was when I benchmarked, too lol -
Guys, I did a clean install of 12.11 Beta3, but my 3DMark 11 score has dropped from P6900 to P6500. I know I shouldn't give a crap about synthetic benchmarks, especially when I tested BF3 and performance has significantly increased! But I'd really like to know if I'm the only one experiencing this!? Have I missed something? Am I truly not getting the driver benefits upto potential?
-
Yay more Bsods after updating afterburner! Everystart up!
...tapatalk... -
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
i dont use afterburner with 12.11 and im fine, i flashed the vbios to the overclock i want and now im good
-
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
nevermind im going back to 12.9, 12.10 wont install and 12.11 crashes too much
-
My impressions so far:
3dmark11: 800+ points gain on P score (but does it matter?)
Skyrim: No complaints.
Sleeping Dogs: Major FPS gain. Benchies from 12.8 Catalyst went up from 36+fps to 55+. And no slow downs what so ever during high speed driving around. Absolutely happy with gains.
Red Orchestra 2: HoS. Much smoother gameplay. But not know fps difference.
Diablo 3: FPS in hundreds. Doesn't look like gained alot tho. -
Guild Wars 2. Definetely fixed underutilization here. Even with 60fps limiter I still see screen tearing. Silky smooth gameplay.
-
Turn off AA and put 1x with v-sync off and my fps doesn't go below 59 in BF3. Nice.
-
Ok so however do I go about installing the 12.10s? I try to install and it says everything is up to date and wont install. This is after I removed everything 12.11 related.
...tapatalk... -
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
I'm only getting BSODs with afterburner, it has been stable since I removed it... I would like to be able to test out overclocks, but my benchmarks are higher now stock than they were when I was overclocked before, so I guess I can't complain. I'm going to try using this driver until the official debugged driver comes out, then I'll install my ssd and do a clean install with the official 12.11 release. As is, I'm very happy with performance, but the afterburner crashes are a pain.
-
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
when are u getting the BSODs? during gaming or right when launching afterburner? is it random?
-
damn u all with the 7970m
! ima try it with my 7750m and c what the performance boost is
